I am thinking of buying a new Mazda 6, How is the ride?

The dealer gave me a test drive but did not take me to any bumpy roads. I am replacing a 1998 Avalon. How would the rides compare?

The Mazda will be firmer. I'd never buy a car without an extended test drive of my choosing. That's the only way to figure out if the car's combination of ride, handling, quietness and seat comfort is to your liking.

thanks for your answer. A new Avalon is not in the cards for me. So I am choosing between a camry, accord and Mazda 6. Any feelings about either car?

The Mazda would be #1 on my list if it had a bit more headroom (I need lots). Any of the 3 are good choices, the Camry would have the edge in reliability.

The Camry would be closest to the Avalon in terms of its ride, the Accord 2nd and the Mazda 3rd. I just test-drove a new 6 GT and thought the ride was quite good. Also drove the new Accord Hybrid which had a smoother ride than the Mazda and was significantly quieter. The headroom of the two cars was comparable - I'm 6'1", 250 lbs. and both were comfortable. The Mazda had a noticeably narrower cabin, however. Of the two, I liked the quietness of the Accord Hybrid (and in Sport mode it had a surprising amount of 'zip') but the Mazda was more fun to drive and had the nicer of the two interiors (not an entirely fair comparison, though, since the Accord Hybrid was the Base model with cloth seats, an entry-level stereo, and no sunroof - I would prefer the EX-L trim which would also be more comparable to the Mazda 6 GT).

Ellio, you gotta put butts in the seat because ride and comfort are individual preferences.
