    I'm surprised that a vehicle of this cost does not have the ability to adjust the seat height.

    It does have the ability to adjust seat height - it's the knob in the picture above. However, the floor pan in the Tacoma is shallow, and the seat mount is low down in comparison to other pickup trucks/SUVs. It just feels odd.

    Isn't this kind of what is done for this type of vehicles. I remember small pickups, Jeep Cherokees, Toyota Forerunners, etc. having more of a low seat/legs out front seating position.

    When I sat in both the Tacoma and Colorado at a recent auto show, I felt more comfortable in the Colorado - both in the front and the rear seats. I don't think I necessarily noticed the Taco being too low though if I wasn't specifically looking for that - but it was just in general. I'm sure it's all personal preference, but I've read several Tacoma reviews that also mention the low seating position - so it does seem that maybe it's lower than most. It can't be unbearable though as plenty of people buy them and keep them. When I was in the Colorado however, I felt like I couldn't tilt the steering wheel up high enough to get a comfortable clearance over my legs. Maybe that seat was adjusted all the way up - I'm only 5'6" so it shouldn't have been a problem. I didn't try changing the seat height at the time though..

    According to people in these forums, seat lifts are a popular aftermarket item for Tacomas. It would be nice if they were not necessary in the first place...

    So, the steering wheel doesn't telescope close enough for your arms? I find the opposite in current Subarus; I get in, adjust the seat to the lowest height (which on modern cars is often higher than I like, especially with power seats) and then for leg reach, then try to adjust the steering wheel further away, only to find it's already as far as it goes. I'm only 5'8", and this one brand among the ones I've driven is consistently the one I can't achieve a comfortable driving position.
