Smartkey Problem

After a week and a day at the Jeep Dealership, my 2000 still will not start after much troubleshooting by the mechanic. I talked to him in person on Friday, which was day 8, and he is at wit's end. Nothing that he's done has worked including replacing some of the electronic modules. He has worked at this dealership for 42 years and not too many of his difficult repair jobs equal this one. He is starting a week vacation on Monday---I am hoping that will help the situation somehow.

Did he give much detail as to what he has found up to this point? If he wants to get hold of me, I can probably help him out.

Thanks for the offer. After the mechanic returned to work after a weeks vacation, I got a phone call on Tuesday July 26 telling me the Jeep was fixed. Turned out that there were two problems---the PCM (powertrain control module) was faulty but the second problem they discovered was a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When they replaced that with considerably difficulty because of its location, car started ok.
