Based on the name of the system and the changes that they've recently made, I suspect that there will be a very big settlement in the near future regarding the crashes/deaths of Teslas using the feature.
It seems to me that the technology wasn't unreliable, but the operators were...thus, Tesla had no choice but to update in this way.
PEBKAC can be cited in pretty much any industry, including this one.
For Tesla, they should have never called it "autopilot", and should have realized how the feature would play into the egos and fantasies of the tech dork fanbase.
