98 caravan side door latch is non electric and non working!!

when trying to exit from the back seat the door must be opened from the outside. where can I find a working diagram of the internal workings? I opened the panel everything seems like it`s doing what it should be except the latch area at the back of the door there the panel is still attached so what I`m viewing is from the push button area the cable and linkage but I`m just not seeing the issue. please I`m in serious need of input our grandson of 1 year rides in this vehicle. many thanks to a web site that helps those in need.

    Is it possible that a child safety lock is engaged? If you open the door and look near the latch (on the open edge of the door), there may be a lever or switch that moves back and forth.
