defroster air flow only

My H/VAC has the air flow through the defroster even though the indicator changes.I have the dual side H/VAC with the manual and auto setting.There is no thumping or grinding or any noise from the dash thank you

    turns out that it is the mode actuator above the gas pedal but replacing it is a bear!!!!

    Sometimes more work is less work. When I have to go under dash to service something like that I will remove the front seat to give myself more room. It actually takes me less time to replace that actuator by improving access that way.
