The key to my Tribute sticks in the ignition for a time after I turn off the ignition. I have tried both of my keys and have the same problem. What could be the cause.

The shift interlock system is likely not detecting that the transmission is in park. This could be a switch issue inside the shifter assembly, a solenoid issue inside the column, or simply a sticking collar on the shifter. Here is a video where the collar is sticking and it can be cleaned and lubricated and restore operation "IF" that is what is going on. (BTW the Escape and the Tribute are the same car) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbp3F2WDEx8
