trying to calibrate a new passenger blindspot camera

  What do you mean by calibration? Aiming? I've looked at the 2017 CR-V manual online and I'm only seeing references to the blind spot information system and not a camera. But I also found this video of someone demonstrating the use of the camera

  Just from looking at that, I think that camera has to be fixed and not moveable on the car. Appear to be a little bit of a fisheye lens so it gives you a wide view (even has "objects may be closer than they appear" warning). And it makes sense to me that you wouldn't be able to change the aim of that camera, especially since there are indicators that show how much room you have.
  
  So what exactly is it that you are trying to "calibrate"?

  Calibration of these systems is something that should be done only after someone has attended formal training and is bonded just in case something goes wrong. Yes some systems don't require a scan tool, you just have to know how to enter the calibration mode since it can be done through the human interface module. While the calibration software is resident on the vehicle success of the process relies on the target being the correct size and being placed in exactly the right location for it to be accurate. Attempting to use a smaller scale target at a shorter range isn't an approved process and can induce errors.
  
  So why do you need to attempt a calibration, did the camera fail or the mirror get knocked off of the car?
