07 trailblazer Cam sensor issues after replacement p0365 and p0366

Had problems with cam codes p0014, p0365, p0366. P0014 cleaed after replacong the camshaft sensor, but other didn't. Repaced the camshaft solenoid (VVT solenoid) cleared codes and they returned on the restart after driving. Any suggestions? Read that it might require a 're learn' procedure from an advanced computer scanner. Mechanic said he never heard of that and wants $$$ for a 1 or 2 day diagnostics. I'm a very skilled weekend mechanic but only have a basic obd scanner and can't run advanced tests or controls on that unit, just able to clear the codes. Anyone have the same issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

    Those codes mean that the PCM isn't seeing the correct number of camshaft signal pulses per crankshaft revolution. In some cases it isn't seeing any. So you really didn't fix the P0014 it's just that the criteria to generate that code hasn't been met, yet. Testing would be done with an oscilloscope monitoring the power, ground and signal leads at the sensor and the signal at the PCM simultaneously. There is no relearn, and it didn't need the VVT solenoid (not for these codes anyway)

    @thecardoc3 , thanks for your input. I was following the part change recommendations that were listed on most references I found. I did replace the cam sensor and VVT when the vehicle had those codes before because it was driven with barely any oil (didn't even mark the dip stick). That definitely affected the sensor and the VVT ports were gunked up. I assumed it happened again because of yep, low or no oil again, but she said she filled once or twice before telling me. At what point she added oil, is unknown. So I followed the same line of repair work. Burning oil is another issue that I don't want to even think about, I'll just keep filling it until she gets another car. I did ohm out and checked voltage to the parts, got proper reads on them, but I won't be able to do the oscilloscope test. I guess it's going to have to go to the shop to pin it down. Saw that there could be other issues with the actual timing that might require chain and camshaft adjustments. If that's the case, she's in trouble. Thanks again!
