Our truck is a 2007 with 148,000 miles and have had our brake lines rust and break while we were driving. We have also had our transmission cooler line, shock absorber, support brackets, gas line and bumper all rust out. Our brakes went with only 106,000 miles.

Do you live in an area that gets snow and road salt? The items you're talking about would get a lot of exposure to corrosives, and 12 years and 148K miles is a lot of time for that.

106K miles on brakes doesn't seem unreasonable for a vehicle that weighs 5,000+ pounds. And if you're in any kind of mountainous/hilly region, that's hard on brakes in a heavy vehicle

The truck was bought and kept in Tennessee. It has never been up north and exposed to salty roads.
