    The Takata airbags used ammonium nitrate as the excelerant. This is very unstable and becomes even more unstable in high humidity. I read that when they replace your airbag, they are putting the same engineered airbag design, using the same excelerant, but with the addition of a desiccant bag. When the desiccant bag gets saturated, the same issue will occur, unstable ammonium nitrate that will go off for no reason.
