chiefdoc2 - what is the URL to track your quad order online? I've called D/C chrysler service with the number BooKitty gave me and I always get a live operator (there's a switch!) who just comes back and says it's in production and will ship the first week of October. Operator says it will take 19 days to ship to my dealer in Southern California.

bsparx - thanks for the excellent info! I live in an urban area (Los Angeles/Orange County) so obviously on-road performance is important (although the way they're tearing up the LA roads you better have 4x4 just to go to the friggin' market these days! Talk about lousy road crews). My off-road usage will mostly snow (mountain driving in the sierras and off-road in snowy areas) and desert/sand ala Baja. I am around construction sites, so a good tough tread and sidewall are important. Speed is not an issue as I'm not a racing guy and rarely will get the truck up beyond 75-80 highway. Never go more than 25 off-road, less in black ice and snow for safety, obviously. Your last point about putting appearance factors last is extemely important. As is the safety issue, as we all know re the headlines. I don't know why people don't give more consideration to tires? I From your comments, it sounds like a P-rated tire (do the BFG's only come in LT?) would be the way to go. Wish I knew a way of testing each brand I'm looking at in real-world conditions. Guess I need to start writing for C&D or Edmunds Online to pull that one off without forking out any cash! ;)

The engine badges on the front fenders appear to have disappeared for 01. My 01 Quad has the 4.7 but no markings. I sort of like that. Especially when someone pulls up along side and my V8 is rumbling through the dual exhaust. Makes them wonder what's under the hood. I like the "sleeper" effect.

By the way, I've found acceleration a bit better if you disable overdrive. Of course, I only use that at certain times like when some hot-rod kid is next to me and I need to boost my ego a bit!

Y'all are really doing us a service with your information on tires and the other subjects. Can't get over how much better it is on these threads than on some of the other topics. Thanks again!

gaquad- I think its just an accident if the door being opened next to your truck lines up with the body side moulding. Most of the time it won't. In my opinion, Quads look much cleaner without that chunk of plastic glued onto the side.

I'm on my 5th different set of tires (@ only 25k miles). Why? I am (was) in the enviable position of living near the Firestone - don't laugh (too loud anyway) - tire testing facility in Ft. Stockton, TX. and the Goodyear Facility in San Angelo, TX. I have 'relationships' with them going back about 25 years to my early racing days - with a stint or two of test driving. ;-) Anyway, I get to try some neat stuff now and again out of the local Discount Tire shops. Currently for the last 8k, and as far as I can see into the future (tire wear), I'll be running those Kelly Springfields I've been talking so much about (sorry). The main sale for me is the RIDE. Absolutely none of the others I've tested, plus those I know about from my older Dodge & Chevy trucks compare favorably in the ride and noise areas. Handling & serious traction needs are a bit of a different story, but I'm commuting about 150 miles per day to an oil lease out in the boonies near the Firestone track.

For mostly off-road I'd absolutely go with the BFG tires. The Michelins don't work out here in the Mesquite trees (thorns), and the Pirellis, well they just plain suck! But on my Datsun roadster they stick like glue... they just wear quickly, like Dunlops D40-M2's.

Strong caveat: These are MY opinions, relating to MY driving conditions, notably: HIGH heat most of the year, high(er) road speeds of 80-90 mph for short spurts, very little below freezing weather, lots of sand, human sized potholes, LOTS of thorns and screws and stuff, 80% on road / >10% caliche 'fireroads' / <10% medium to heavy duty off road muck. And absolutely NO help for hours if you come up with a tire problem. I know, I (and my dad) had to walk in August mid day heat for 3 hours with 2 brand new General tire blow-outs (bought at Sam's the day before) back in '90. One of the counties I have wells in has the lowest pop. in the U.S. (Loving County, TX pop. = about 6 and covers umpteen thousand miles), and no tire stores (but a first class little Post Office). :-O

A nice bonus: they're the cheapest tires I've ever used on a truck (about $380 per set out the door with a lifetime 'NO hassles' guarantee). Amazing.

For what it's worth, I ordered black SLT bodyside molding through a dealer for my '00 Quad Sport and applied it myself (very simple). Not sure about '01, but you couldn't get factory molding on the Sport in '00.

In my case, the molding looks great because the entire truck is trimmed out black-on-white (brush guard, step bars, tonneau, etc.). Whether it'll someday save me a ding or two is questionable... Though I did do a "test crash" at a local supermarket... At least it fended off one wayward shopping cart!

The part # for a K&N filter to fit my 00 QC was 33-2084. Same one as fits a 4.7. Fits perfect. Bought it at Autozone for $48.00.

Ahhhh! I just picked up my '01 QuadCab last night from a dealer in NY. 4.7L, auto, power everything... I live in PA and it's about 130 miles away. 4 miles off the lot, my malfunction indicator light came on. I stopped and turned the engine off and then back on (my usual fix for such lights). No good this time. I drove back to the dealership, but they had closed for the night. I read in the manual that it's engine control/emissions and that it's safe to drive unless it blinks, blah blah blah.

Between 1200-1500 RPM at constant speed, I have a terrible shake. It is very noticeable. Your cheeks vibrate, etc. Also, when I accelerate and it kicks into high gear, the light starts blinking.

I stopped at my local dealer first thing today but he can't get me in until Monday. I asked if it was safe to drive until then and he said, "I wouldn't say that."

Anyone else have any similar troubles or advice?

If he cannot get you in immediately and will not tell you that the vehicle is safe to drive, he is not interested in your well-being. Any dealer worth his salt would at least give you a loaner until your vehicle could be fixed.

asta: Ordered my 01 QC on Saturday, August 24. Checking this morning, I see that it has arrived in Dallas for transfer from rail to truck carrier and its final leg to Temple (120mi). I figure a Saturday (09/16) pick-up. That makes less than a full month from order to drive away.

nthdgreee: I called DC with my VON (vehicle order #). They gave me codes as to where it was during manufacture. THEN, I got the VIN once it was built and ready for shipment. I asked for the name of the carrier (in my case Norfolk & Southern RR). DC gave me the SN of the rail car on which my QC was loaded. THEN, I did a net search for the home page URL for N&S-RR and clicked on "Track a shipment." Using the SN of the rail car, I've been able to track its movement from Warren to Dallas.

Sounds like a lot to do but I sure enjoyed the process. It was like watching your child grow in your wife's body - imagining all the parts coming together and the whole becoming a "living" thing that will be an important part of your family.

New vehicles are like young women. Beautiful, crisp, spotless but without personality for they have no experience of life. My '92 Chev 2500 has 130K+ and I'd not trade her just to get that "young thang." I know her every mood and quirk. She knows mine. The smoothness of her steering wheel in the two places I always hold her is MY indelible mark just as the dented tailgate and scratched front fender. We have aged together. She has taken me many, many miles in all weather and done it safely. I owe her respect and care.

Oh, we will be delighted with the new Quad but, like a toddler, she will have to be trained and will train us.

Best of luck to us both ........ chiefdoc

Scott, that light may come on for a simple a reason as an improperly sealed fuel filler cap. It happened on my wife's vehicle, and the dealer could not look at it until the following Thursday (this was on a Friday). As all of the "vital signs" were okay, we continued to drive it (we were out of town). After recycling the ignition several times with no positive results, I stopped for fuel. The filler cap did not appear to be on correctly (my wife never buys fuel at self serves so it is possible that the attendant did not properly tighten the cap) and after I refueled the vehicle and reinstalled the cap, the check engine light did not come on, nor did it ever happen again. I think that themacguy also had a similar experience. I hope that your problem turns out to be that simple (fuel cap or gasket seal). We no longer patronize that dealer. He has successfully demonstrated that he already has more business than he could possibly wish for, so we are complying with his wishes.

RAIDER -- Thanks for the number (33-2084)on the K&N drop-in. Only trouble is, I got a slightly different number (33084)from WETWILLIE on the other Dakota board. Guess I'll wait for KMEENE's number to come in... Hopefully 2 out of 3 will be the same!
  • wetwilliewetwillie Member Posts: 129
I was on my way to a tee-time when I threw those part numbers out. Raider is right - the drop in # is 332084. The part # for the Filtercharger is correct however. Visit www.martelbros.com or www.accessconnect.com for more application info. BTW, when they list model years in their application charts you'll notice '00 model year is not referenced, however I make assumption that the current year has just been neglected (updating website app. chart stuff must a low priority). Maybe a big assumption on my part, (Filterchargers are not cheap!) but you'll notice the model #'s are surprisingly generic.

what is the order code for this option as i have not found it hear on this site nor any other truck price site either. is this a factory order item or dealer install?
  • towcrazy2towcrazy2 Member Posts: 337
SLICKWILLIE-- I would be surprised (but pleased for you) if you're ordering a Sport and body side moldings are available on that trim package. They were not for MY 2000 (confirmed by 2 dealers, so I ordered SLT part number and installed myself).

As to pricing sites, my recommendation would be
    invoicedealers.com

When I ordered, their specs and pricing lined up EXACTLY with the dealer order book.

    Good luck!

ssk109 - same thing happened when I picked up my '01 quad. About a mile off the lot when the check engine light came on. I drove it a few days to see if it would go off (I assumed it was some emissions problem) but it didn't. As soon as I notified the dealer, he sent someone to my work with a loaner and took the quad in to check it. Computer code said something about a transmission sensor so they replaced it. No light since then.
  • themacguythemacguy Member Posts: 417
First, cycle the ignition switch off and on three times in an easy manner. Then read the code on your digital odometer's LEDs, or if you have the overhead computer - I believe someone has said here - that it shows up there. Ask us the code: usually a P xxx or whatever, we'll give you the answer (probably), bpeebles (definitely), and then at least you are forewarned as to what the dealer 'might' tell you is wrong.

Note: Someone has mentioned here (way, way back in time) that you have three days (that would be uhhh tomorrow) to consider your purchase a 'done deal.' Supposedly most states will let you 'give' it back to the dealer - I'm sure with him kicking & squealing like a stuck pig. Not sure how that works - IF it does, but I'd sure look into it.

You might get the codes and work from there (actually, here), first.

I have been reading along for awhile and now I have a question. My '00 4.7 Auto Quad cab w/1500 miles seems to sputter in the morning. It hasn't been too cold yet theses mornings and I am wondering why my truck is almost stalling when I try to take off in the morning. It will almost stall and then take off when I first get going. I live up here in Vermont and wnat to get this taken care of before it gets real cold. Anyone else having this problem?
  • ssk109ssk109 Member Posts: 6
Okay. I got my Quad into another local dealer ASAP. They found it was a bad injector. Of course no parts in stock. Today with the benefit of Fed-Ex, it should be fixed. Thanks to everyone for their advice!

On a lighter note... Can anyone tell me what the 3 loops of belt are for along the top of the back seats? For the life of me, I can't figure it out.

    Thanks again!
  • nthdgreeenthdgreee Member Posts: 24
Chiefdoc2: Thanks for the information. It was good stuff. I have the VON and I've been resisting the urge to call everyday just to see if they have moved the build /Ship date up. Does that ever happen? I would like to think it does.

Thoughts of my truck rarely leave my mind. I'm probably driving my wife crazy. It's really fun though.
  • steve234steve234 Member Posts: 460
Those are the new child restraint points that all new vehicles are required to have on the back seats. Last year they were a for free option.

Well, After lurking for months and waiting for finances to straighten out ( they never do...), I have bit the bullet and went to the dealer. I am now the proud owner of a piece of paper that says Dodge will build me a truck. It's a 2001 Dak QC, and I got it for invoice less $500 FB discount. I will list the details below.
Now a little about me, I'm a lifelong Mopar fanatic and only strayed from the fold once ( 1988 Mustang Police Interceptor..pretty peppy, but not brutally fast). My employment (it's definatly not work) is as a product safety technician, which is a fancy way of saying I get paid to break things for a living and make sure you all don't get hurt. I'm a former part-time Firefighter/Paramedic and Dodge dealer employee. Hobbies include Cars(duh), woodworking, camping, looking for Mrs. She'll Do, and reading (especially anything Mopar or musclecar related. I live and work in the northern Chicago suburbs. I am also a member of the Chicago Mopar Connection car club and would encourage and others in the area to check us out.
Anyway, enough about me, back to the truck.

I just went to the dealer yesterday and test drove a DQC with the 4.7L V8. As I am going off road (know I shouldn't on a test drive) I come to the realization that this truck rocks. Note that I was in MI and the closest thing I found to off road is some mudy bumpy sand and dirt. I fell in love with the truck. the problem came when I got back to the dealership and found was told that my truck was NOT a 4x4.
They are out of 4x4 with the optons I want. Does anyone hink I should go ahead and get the truck (21k with most options and bed cover+ side bars), or wait for the 4x4 to come in. I do travel to GA and I am not sure if the Rw drive will cut it on the harder stuff yet alone the snow up here. Please help.

    P.S.
I took it to the car wash before I went back to the dealer.

I have had my Quad since late March, and in the last two weeks I have noticed the same. The past few morning here in Michigan have been cool, and the truck feels like it will stall. I have the 4.7 with the 5spd so I just keep my foot on the gas a little more.
I'm thinking that maybe the computer needs to "learn" that in the fall, the air is cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon. I do park in an insulated garage so the truck is warm when I get in it, but I don't think that is making the difference.
  • bookittybookitty Member Posts: 1,303
Chris, I would definitely recommend the 4X4 with the part time system. However, your finances are your business and that might have to influence your decision. The weather in MI certainly would justify the purchase of a 4WD, and the retained value is also increased. I used to spend a great deal of time in the UP, and I live in PA. My job involved traveling PA, NJ, DE, MD, NY and New England as well as Ontario and East in Canada. I have driven 4WD vehicles since the late 1960's and never plan to change from that decision. So, I may not be the most objective person to ask, but the general consensus within the forum seems to lean towards 4X4 especially with the guys from areas where ice and snow are more or less regular
in the winter season. Whatever route you choose, we wish you the best, and someone is always here to help answer your questions. Good luck.

Purchased an 01 Quad about three weeks ago. Silver, 4x4 (full time), 4.7, auto, leather, SLT, and every option except fog lights and body side molding. My sales person called and said they had one backing off the truck and wanted to know if I could go look at it, which i did and then ending up buying it. Love the truck!! I was worried about mpg, but I got 15.5 on the first tank and 16.8 on the second. I added a drop in K&N after the first tank. Don't know if that made a difference or not.

I plan on adding splash guards, step bars, fiberglass bed cover, and maybe a Gibson muffler later on. No problems at all with the truck so far.

nthdgree and other interested parties - called up DC Customer Service. Been calling last few Fridays since I ordered the Quad on Aug. 29. Last week they told me the vehicle was in production and would ship out first week of October, arrive in So Cal at my dealer probably last week of OCtober. Called back today (you never know, right?) and after the rep wasted about 10 minutes searching for the wrong vehicle (Ram 4-door not Dak) he came back and said my Quad was built and shipped on September 12! So, to answer your question, nthdgree, YES, they do move up the build and ship dates, in my case by nearly a month. Should arrive at my dealer in 2 maybe 3 weeks. had no rail code or number to give me as of yet. It's funny, because after reading a few posts here and seeing various vehicles on the road, I was almost ready to call the dealer and see if I could nix the body side molding and the sliding rear window (go for the defog package). That's not even an option, now. (no worries). still have yet to see a silver 01 quad here in LA so hopefully I'll be the first! Can't wait for winter and the mountains. But a little run to baja might just be the call to test this puppy out in October. more later.

I ordered the slider before I read all the posts here about it. I keep thinking I will enjoy listening to the radio through it when I am putting stuff in the bed. Then today I realized that may also be able to hear the exhausts through it. Of course that could be a bad thing (MPG RIP).

I don't want the full-on off-road look but I'm wondering what a grill guard/brush guard combo would look like. I'm definitely going to purchase Nerf bars, but I think it could use a little more. Any opinions?

This is for freous and livlrn. I live an hour north of Toronto Canada and own a 2000 Quad with the 4.7 motor and automatic transmission. I have about 20K km's on my truck. I too have a problem with it stalling and idling rough when it gets warm. This problem has been ongoing since 5000 km's. When I start it up first thing in the morning or after work, it almost stalls when I pull away. After it gets warm, the idle goes down to about 500 RPM's and it begins to shake all over. On a few occasions when I have arrived home after work and shut the DAK off for about 15 minutes and then start it up, it stalls about 15 feet from the house, once I come to a stop. I've had it to the dealer numerous times and they have cleaned the throttlebody twice and did something else to it and it still has the same problem. The mechanic told me that someone else has the same problem. Also, he told me that a flash is coming for the PCM to correct it but gave me no timeframe as to when it is going to come in. I'm getting frustrated with the whole thing - especially since this is a new vehicle. Spending over 30 K for a vehicle and it has stalling problem !! Give me break. And they wonder why the Japanese vehicles sell so well. I'm giving them a couple more weeks and if it isn't fixed I'm dumping it.
I'll keep everyone informed of my progress.
P.S. The truck is great in every other aspect but this kind of mechanical problem bothers me.

I saw some mentions of getting cat back exhaust from Gibson in some earlier posts. I looked on the Gibson web site and couldn't find the Quad Cab listed in their applications. Is their site not up to date? Has anyone got a quote on a cat back system from Gibson? Any other quotes from other manufacturers? Not really interested in a stainless steel system due to the cost and that I won't probably keep the truck long enough to have a rust issue. Appreciate any info.

    Ontario -

I just bought my '00 on Monday. The dealer told me that at 4000 mi. the computer automatically cuts the idle back. He said this was to save fuel. At the time I thought it was a cool thing, now I'm not so sure. I can't think of the conversion off the top of my head (mi --> km) but you might be right around there.

asta and others. Well I couldn't resist anymore. I finally called out to DC again just to see and hope that maybe they pushed my build date up. It was originally scheduled to be built and shipped during the first week of October. The last time I called them was this past Monday 9/11.

Imagine my excitement when I call them today and they tell me it was already in paint (code F) and would be hitting trim (code G) very soon. As far as the rep. knew she said it was scheduled to be loaded on the rails TODAY!! THIS IS THREE WEEKS EARLIER THAN WAHAT I WAS TOLD FOUR DAYS AGO!! I'm not complaining believe me.

I don't know how assembly lines work but can they ship a vehicle so soon after painting? It's probably not painted the way I think it is.

Anyway, you guys on this board are great! I've gotten so much information from you all that it has really made a big difference my excitement level. I'll keep you all posted as things develop.

well, i must say that i have had a let down today. i drove to my aunts house after work to feed their animals while they are gone, when i stopped the truck and got out i noticed a funny smell only to look up and find that the truck was spewing steam and anti-freeze. i only have 1520 miles on it, so here is the rundown 01, 4x4, slt, 4.7, auto, hd package, towing, and most of the other goodies, incl. bodyside molding. well anyways, the dealership is dropping off a loaner and taking the QC away to investigate, repair, and owe me another free oil change, lube, etc. by the time that i get done with them. not that it is their fault, but like they won't charge DC for it anyways. i am mechanically inclined and have a fair amount of knowledge of the working parts of the vehicle, and i could not spot anything that looked suspicious, so i am thinking that the thermostat is clogged.

tuvtest: i bought the mopar bed extender installed, which includes two bars that the extender snap into, and it extends further than most aftermarkets, for under $200. i know that most people are picking up the aftermarket for around $179 after shipping, but ask them how installation went. you might find that the little extra is worth it.

gaquad: i have the slider and have no problem with the noise, in fact i kind of like to hear the slight purrrr of the 4.7 when it isn't on a flatbed.(i'm not bitter at all).

any info from my fellow quaders would be greatly appreciated, and i will post on any progress.

victx thanks for the stereo info. greatly appreciated.

Just ordered a Westin- sportsmen grill guard
#40-0145 Can't wait to Install it. Should get it by next Thursday. This is a 1 piece so it has to be shipped Via truck freight.
I himmed and hawwed between Westin and Manik. Not an easy choice. In the end Westin has a 5 year warranty as opposed to the 3 year with the Manik. That said you could just flip a coin on the fit and finish..I'll post on the install when complete.
As far as going off road well,at least you know you can if you put one on yours..Just be careful as to not scratch the paint.

It seems that the only mouldings available for the Dakota are black.

Without taking a measurement, it seems that the mouldings for a Durango would fit. At least the front one for the Qcab. The front doors appear to be the same. The benefit is that the Durango mouldings come in COLORS !

Although the Durangos don't come in Amber Fire, they do have the Lt. Driftwood Satin. The same as the Tu-Tone Dak color on the bottom. If anyone has looked at this closer, please post your findings.

(jps3) I do not believe it for 2 reasons.

    1) The shop manual does not mention this "feature" at all. (This manual is quite explicit in operational characteristics)

    2) I heard this 4K mile rumor when I received my rig and actually slowed down and let the 4K mile mark 'click' past... no idle change at all.

I would sooner think that the programming for the idle is somewhat different for the first 4K miles to allow for break-in. The tolerances on the 4.7L hemi are VERY tight and it takes time for it to "loosen up".

There is NO QUESTION that environmental changes (cold mornings) will take time for a new rig to "learn" how to idle. Again, the shop manual describes the learning process which is an algorithm with many inputs for the computer to contend with. The learning process is based on "similar circumstances", time, and is continually updating the computer programming on the fly as more data is collected. (fuzzy logic)

As a programmer by trade... I can relate to what the designers have attempted to do. Its not perfect but should result in a better-running engine as more miles are accumulated.

I have already described in the past my opinions about the idle programming on the 4.7L and look forward to a FLASH to update the code within the computer. My rig did not begin to idle respectfully until beyond 8K miles and still has its moments when presented with uncommon situations.

A WORD OF WARNING Be wary of 'fixes' the dealer does by "resetting" the computer or disconnecting the battery. The computer may end up jut like a BRAND NEW system that is "stupid" (ALL PREVIOUS LEARNING MAY BE FORGOTTEN)

Warren, I have the slider (would not be without it) and it really cuts down wind noise when driving with the windows lowered. It also reduces the wind turbulence in the cab. The only little glitch is that it cannot be closed from the front seat in the Quad like I used to do with the club cab. I have a hearing impairment, and wear hearing aids. Without the slider open, it is impossible for me to hear people in the cab with windows partially open or fully open. The slider rules as far as I am concerned. I can't reall hear the exhausts any better, partially because I have an A.R.E. LSII fiber glass tonneau.

    Tuvtest,

Just wondering what you paid for the truck. Looks like the same options I would like to get. I have seen quite a bit of disparity in costs for DQC's with similar options.

Does anyone know of the availability of an aftermarket electric rear sliding window. In my s-10 I can reach it and it does balance the airflow through the truck. Will order the QC with solid rear glass and rear defrost and hope to add electric rear slider later if available.

YOU MAY BE ONTO SOMETHING with the idea of fitting up color-matched Durango moldings to the QC!

I purchase the moldings (black, fitted standard on SLTs) for my '00 Sport and slapped them on myself. For my purposes (all black-on-white trim), it works perfectly.

BUT... For those with colors that match the Durango line, provided the Durango moldings are as long or longer than required, trimming them would be a simple matter!

You'd need an angle-cut on each non-tapered (90 degree) end... Very simple! Measure and mark the molding, slip it into a miter saw and make the cuts... CAUTION!!! When cutting any plastic or hard rubber material in a power miter, remove and install the blade in REVERSE first.

Wish I'd thought of that! Might have gone with white molding on my QC!

For all "yall" up north, please try using the air selector switch in the defrost mode in the mornings until the engine warms up. I don't have cold enough air here in Texas to try it.
Doing so should increase idle rpm slightly and I would be interested to see if it makes a difference. I am woundering if I will face the same problems when the first "blue northerner" rolls in, probably about January by the way things are going....92 degrees today!
If anyone has already thought of this please inform the rest of us.
    Thank you

JPS3 -- Lots of guys prefer the gusto look of a full-width brush/grille/lamp guard up front, and a few might even use them for their intended purpose. If you're hesitant to hang that much plumbing off the front end of your truck (as I was), you might consider one of the smaller, centered guards.

I went with the small, simple Westin brush guard/light bar. I chose it for two reasons: First, as a "sacrificial" component in honor of those who can't resist practicing the art of "touch-parking." Once the mounts are installed on the frame, the bar itself is easily removed/replaced quickly/cheaply by popping two bolts (much cheaper than a bumper replacement). Second, I chose it simply as a place to hang some decent fog lamps to supplement the pitiful factory lamps. A word of caution on the Westins, however... It AIN'T easy to install the mounts to the frame and still retain correct bumper-to-body alignment and clearance!

ROADMASTER -- Has anyone installed the Roadmaster Active Suspension units on the rear of their QC??? I've been researching them... VERY impressed with the engineering simplicity, and encouraged that these supplemental units have what it takes to eliminate minor rear-end squat while towing without resorting to the cost and hassle of a load-equalizing hitch.

The price is right, and the install looks relatively simple... Just wondering whether anyone has installed a set.

George, in the event that you have not tried to access C. R. Laurence Company, here is the link to their site. www.crlaurence.com. If you have accessed them, forgive me for posting the obvious. There is a dealer link within the site. I'll try my area to see if I can come up with a price. Hope that this helps.

Does anyone know if the 2001 Quad Cabs come with a air bag switch?

Anyone ever thought about pulling a fifth wheel with a Quad Cab? I'm concerned about the distance from the cab to the hitch.

Air bag switches are not available on vehicles that have rear seats where child seats may be properly anchored. As a rule they are limited to vehicles where a child restraint seat must be anchored to a front seat. In this case, the air bag may present a danger to the child and thus it may be disabled via a switch (sometime a keyed switch is utilized). I have I believe answered this question recently for you within another topic.

Your answer beat me to the punch. That is a question that should be in the FAQ site..What do you think?
    Allen-

PS I'am not very good at "cutting" and "pasting" how about you? LOL..
