I'm just the messenger!!
The JDM models get two whites -- Satin White and Arctic White Pearl. It appears as though the US gets something in between -- Satin White Pearl.

"...it comes from a really nice vinyl cowette though" LOL - reminds me of the LeBra I had on my 87 Daytona Shelby Z. They kept saying it was better than other brands because it was made of naugahyde. I always wondered how many poor naugas had to die...

Though I read it long ago, I reminder one of the characters talking about, or perhaps purchasing, some clothing that was "100% virgin polyester."
I agree there's more VW discussion here than on the VW site; I was looking there when my wife was considering a NB convertible.
I got the Shelby right after college. All my buddies had Mustang 5-O's and IROCs. 196 HP/212 lb-ft through the front wheels!! Just a touch of torque steer. Biggest POS I ever owned but it was fun. Flash Red was the color.
You cant even sit 3 150-175lb adults across in the second row of the Highlander without feeling stuffed in there. The 3rd row may be alble to fit 2 children around 50lbs, provided they are flexable, have short limbs, and are really friendly.
Honestly, very few SUVs can put adults comfortably in the 3rd row. Expedition is the only one I've tried that would. Even the huge Pathfinder Armada only has room for kids.
If they can match the Pilot, or even the MPV, I'd be impressed.

A friend of mine had the Shelby Daytona and I remember having to drive him to the hospital in it. From what I remember the torque steer was as bad as the GLH.
Cheers Pat.
my MPV considerably smaller than Suvs, can confortably seat 3 adults for a long time

I gave up on SUVs very quickly because the access to the 3rd row is horrible. Parents/grandparents find it very difficult to get back there.
My younger brother must have been about 14 or so at the time and he fit OK, though.

re the Omni GLH - know what that stood for? Goes Like H...
On Topic - most 7 seaters in the SUV class are pretty bad in that back row IMHO.
Subaru's AWD and rear diffy are compact and much more space efficient. It'll be a bigger platform than the Outback, so I expect wheelbase will be in the 110-112" range.
Look at the Sienna AWD, Mazda also makes an AWD MPV in Japan (I think). Though the Toyota does give up the spare tire I heard.
I'm very much looking forward to see what kind of creative packaging Subaru comes up with.

Still, that was a pretty neat little car. Also a POS, but that can be said about all the Chryslers in the 80s....
I think the car that started it all was the Shelby Charger. Somehow, I think that would be a cool project car to stumble upon and restore. Later models were specialty built and numbered in Carrol Shelby's shop.

I much prefered the '91 Escort GT I owned at the time (1.8l DOHC).

I thought the 7-passenger was going to be more rugged and be able to tow, really go off road, and such things. Perhaps those were just rumors and its really going to be more of an Outback minivan. To be able to do the rugged, towing, hauling thing they are boing to have to beef eveything up which will take up space and get pretty heavy.
I cant complain about my Sienna XLE AWD in the snow. Its as good as my wifes 2k OB. Then again we have not has a ton of snow here. I had to go looking for it.
Subaru needs something bigger for folks like me to step up to. I just hope they offer a value-priced model, and don't make unnecessary things like leather standard.

As for the GLH I wouldn't have owned one of those things at any price, good car to killed in as the saying goes, all in all it was pretty crude.
Cheers Pat.

No optional DVD navigation- SOA doesn't feel the pricing would be in line with what is offered from the aftermarket. Adding the extra expense and price to the vehicle wouldn't make it realistic within the market they want to target. Hence, the audio choices will pretty much remain the same except maybe for a few extra added speakers.
The point of added weight and government compliance also was reason for this decision-
"If the vehicle is over a certain weight a large tax penalty is imposed. Any accessory that is over 3 lbs and applied greater than 33% is subject to being applied against that weight. According to Government Regulations any product that would knowingly exceed that penetration rate can not be sold by the vehicle manufacturer."
Also, no Legacy wagon (or any model) rear seat reclining feature.
No long term plans at this time for 300hp or an H6 Legacy. Top of the line Outback models will get a 250hp H6, the GT and rest of Legacy line will continue with H4 ranging from the NA 168hp to the 250hp turbo.
An LL Bean version of the Forester will soon be added to the mix, exact engine choice is not known at this time but, it will not be an H6 as in the Outback models. Most likely the turbo H4 with a small bump in power.
The 7 passenger SUV is slated to have between 280hp and 300hp from the new 3.0 H6. Rumored seating arrangement is 2-2-3, which shocks me since I'd figure the back to be cramped in that configuration.
Bye bye Baja! ('nuff said)
No Legacy pricing had been mentioned, the change is not expected to be more than a 5% increase from current prices. There's also the confirmation of FHI's new global badging initiative which would basically eliminate all model name badges from the car. The Pleiades on blue background and engine trim badges is all you're likely to see on the car.
So... it looks like the Baja may be dropped? And... another report of a LL Bean Forester!

I have to agree. I thought for sure it would be a 2-3-2 setup. If it is indeed a 2-2-3 setup, that means it will be a wide vehicle (remember the B11S concept is a wide vehicle), and that it could also be a 2-3-3 setup, making it an 8-passenger crossover.
I bet it will be as wide as the Pilot/MDX, if not wider.
Bob
Think a hopefully less obese Pacifica but instead of 2-2-2 you add one in the very back. I am still hoping for more of a SUV with at least 4,500 pounds of towing as compared to a minivan.
lol
Cheers Pat.
