offer Driver's option. Has anyone had any experience with it or has to say something about it ?
Thanks...
Was just quoted $28,500 for a 2K3 Passat GLX w/ 4motion and ESP. From looking through edmunds (TMV) and other sources, seems like a fair deal. Any comments?
Thanks.
2003 Passat GL Auto (no add'l options)
$21,805 - Invoice
-$1,600 - below invoice
-$1,000 - VW rebate for having 99, 2000, or 01 VW
=$19,205 with 2.9% for 5 years
2001.5 Passat GLX
28,500 Miles
Silver/Blue Exterior - Black Leather
$19,599
Just sold my Camry (thank God!) and the wife and I really like the Passat. Questions:
1. On the GLX is Premium gasoline recommended or required?
2. Does the CD player/changer come standard with the GLX (This one has neither)?
3. Should I have any concerns with the 01.5 or should I look for an 02?
Thanks for the assistance.
I hope I do not have any problems with my new Passat and hopefully VW Credit will not cause any problems later.I was told that my car was in fine shape so I should be OK, in case I may be hit buy a wear and tear bill by VW credit I will be pretty mad.
The Dealership worked excellent, so I hope everything goes smooth after this point.
Congrats on your new car!!
I got a 4 motion GLX Station Wagon.
It looked like a no brainer, hoping that everything goes smooth from now on..
But an internet dealer in a city 300 miles away just offered me a 2004 with all those features plus the grey interior I want, at essentially the same price: $21,600. Seems like a no-brainer to go for it. But... with the latter I don't know what the financing will be, since it won't arrive at the dealer for a couple of weeks--maybe it will be a higher rate?? I'll have to go on a weekend trip to get it. And is there any danger they'll change the price in the intervening weeks, or something could go wrong?
I don't know.
Anyway, yes, it seems far more sensible to get the '04 at the same price than the '03, and also get the interior I want. But maybe not? I gotta decide soon on the '03, so I'm under pressure. I'd appreciate feedback and guidance. Thanks.
Good luck.
What is the mileage and is the dealer
GLS for 20.5k ?????????
that is very very good deal
One of the last few left. Brand new not a demo.
What do you think?
It's left over from last season and brand new.
The sticker price is aproximately $24,500, including the dealer installed alarm system and prep fees.
What do you think I should offer for this car considering it's an 03?

I don't mind to drive 300 miles if a dealer offer me such a good deal.
1995 Passat GLX Wagon, auto, 63k miles, black/black, certified, asking $5995
Seems like a good price for a GLX with fairly low miles. Haven't seen it in person yet, so who knows what might be wrong.
Thanks for your input!
Any purchase/trade-in advice I can get is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!!
I am considering buying a Passat W8. Any advise?
But the car was in pretty good shape, needs some normal work. When it came time to talk price, they conveniently ignored the price on the website and pulled up prices from Kelly, NADA, and Edmunds. Of course, they pulled up the highest possible prices, far above the price on the site. We didn't stand for that, and ultimately got them down below the web site price.
Anyway, the wife's happy to have a reliable daily driver, and I'm happy to have a speedy VW sport wagon to haul out on weekends. So it all works out.
Thanks for your advice,
Matt
I am trying to lease an 2004 with Leather. Can anyone share what the lease quotes they got were. So far, I have been quoted $370, $1000 down/cap cost. 15,000/yr 36 months.
Any help would be appreciated.
The lease seems high compared with other vehicles of similar value.
Bob
I think I could get it for $28k, but haven't begun any negotiations yet. Anyone have any thoughts on a fair price for this car? Is it smarter to just get an '04?
Thanks very much.
Only things I would do differently are:
1) LEASE it - depreciation is going to hit W8 hard for several reasons.
2) Buy the Sport Package - I chose not to wait and it was not available.
The car is a pleasure to drive.

Happy motoring . . .
If you can find one with a color acceptable to you, I'd say go for the '03. The only difference between the years is that the '04 has a new wheel style. My wife likes the '03 wheel better, anyway.
Don't get a cd changer--they're not that reliable. Get an iPod and connect kit. No more changing disk magazines in the trunk.
Buying experience on the whole was better than average, but I'd attribute that largely to the fact that it's an '03 that the dealer clearly had to sell. We were in and out in about 2 1/2 hours and were IMHO BS'd just a little here and there along the way.
I'm told that the dealer here has at least 4 more '03 GLX wagons in stock -- 3 in reflex siler with 4MO, and 1 in black with 4MO.
Thanks to all for the great info on this thread -- Mark
Two questions. What could I realistically expect to get the dealer down to for purchase? What interest rate would I expect to pay?
Thanks.
If you are buying VW Passat, you are buying for handling, styling, quality and prestige of driving a car that is more unique and not often seen, hence the lack of incentives and price point.
Really like the car by the way -- quiet, good power, and way more cush than the CR-V we traded. Hoping we don't have reliability issues, but if we do I'll be posting them.
