I can just see it now at the Airports, -- "We have a special going on right now, and we can upgrade you from the Daewoo to the Aztek for only $25 dollars more a week ~~ naaah, we'll keep the Daewoo" .. -- hehehehe.
Terry ;-)
Here's the bad news ~ the miles are on the tall side, it's a 6 banger, it's a short box And a hi-top strippy .. Whoof, who ordered this one, Chris Rock.?
This musta been ordered as a price leader .. sorry, nothing positive going on here -- I would have to say you are lookin' in and around the $8's on a trade.
One of your options is to have it detailed to the max, do any service, lot's of rubber going on, then drive it to Retail Rd and ask $10,900 then say night night at $9,5/$10,5 .. the miles, the 6 banger, the hi-top, the swb is flat killin' ya.
Terry :-(
There is a huge difference.
I would never think of not disclosing the accident. If it was a minor dent, I'd blow it off but, this was too much. I've showed the paper work from the body shop to those who drove it (2).
It's actually been on autotrader.com for a month. I've had pretty good response at $8300 considering where the market's at and the time of year. I have a girl whose interested and she brought her brother out to drive it with her. We'll wait to see what they offer.
Seriously, this car was my baby and it looks great. It's difficult to convince people that I'm not selling because of the accident. But, it was for sale prior to the accident...dammit.
This is my parents car, they replaced it with a Honda CRV for better visibility with all the SUVs around here (Denver).
BTW, Terry, thanks for the pricing advice on our Exploder (#10781). It sold for $15000, right around your mark!
Thanks, Pete
2000 Passat GLX sedan, White, manual trannie, black interior, 6 CD changer, 32,000 miles. Everything's stock.
Very well taken care of - garaged, waxed regularly. No scratches, dings, dents; a few minor chips in front from driving in Colorado winters.
What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Looking at a 1995 Lexus GS300 Touring edition. 133,000 miles
Leather, sunroof, CD Changer, dual power seats, fog lights.
Gold with tan interior.
Has slight dent on hood and a small repairable hole in the front bumper. Needs a REAL good bath but starts up and runs like it's new. No stains on the interior, just dirty.
No paintwork, clean title history.
The car is in Atlanta.
Thanks in advance.
Well we got a handshaker going on here and 8k .. so if it's still lookin' and driving new, you should be seeing in and around the high $12's, maybe the low $13's on a trade depending on the dealer .. a little trip down Retail Rd, $15,9 would be a good "asking" price and drop it off to one of the Atlanta Falcons for $14,5/$15,0 ..
Hey, good luck and let me know ..!
Terry.
*** Seriously, this car was my baby and it looks great. It's difficult to convince people that I'm not selling because of the accident. ***
If things don't work out with this young lady, you may want to get a little real on the price .. -it has frame damage- .. the vehicle is maybe worth around the $3's on a trade - not everyone will be as blunt as I will. They will just say they have another vehicle to look at, or their knitting class starts in 15 minutes or they will call you right back .. so cut the cord on the this "loved one", it's been slammed, folks don't like to buy slammed vehicles.
Hello - wake up..!
Terry.
Let's say with all the miles it's still nice, no real paint or body work, the seats don't have that "I keep razor blades in my jeans look", a little ding, kiss and a love tap over here and there, it's a good color, so with new sneakers and the service is 100% .. trade side, it "could" be worth $5ish, a fair asking price would be around $7,5 ..
What are they asking ..?
Terry.
Which brings me to my next question ... should I be able to pull $13,500 out of my 2002 SI. It's white, 5-speed (as all SI's are), 12,000 miles, perfect interior, tires rotated, oil recently changed, sunroof, power everything, CD, keyless, and fog lights. Car has one slight scratch on the bottom of the rear bumper, otherwise it's flawless. I know the market has been soft on these but I hoping $13,500 is still doable.
This sounds like a pretty nice little rig, auto, it's a wagon, it's a Sub, it's a AWD and the miles are nice and low for the year and it's a good color ..
This is a Great vehicle for Retail Rd, especially up there in Sonny Bono country ..
You know the drill .. a detail, a nice ad, yatty yatty yatty, pull the CRV out and throw the Sub in the garage .. this shouldn't last long, $7,950 in the paper and $7,0/$7,5 takes it out ...
Not much luck needed here .. let me know.!
Terry.
The SI at $13, nope that's a wholesale price or a trade price, that you should see standing on your head .. naah, start it at $15,9 if you are going down Retail Rd and $14,5/$15,0 get's a new owner ...
I hope this helps ...
Terry :-)

1999 Nissan Quest SE. Pretty well loaded, including factory moonroof, upgraded stereo w/changer, etc. Bright Silver, gray cloth insides. Only 37K on it. One owner, no problems.
Recently had new Dunlops put on it, along with front brakes and a full 30K service (at dealer). A few minor door dings, but never hit and I have all the records. Needs a detail, but everything in NJ does right now.
Stupid to sell now I'm sure, but when you get the bug...
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
Can this vehicle be Honda certified?
Thanks for your comments I really appreciate your time.
My bad
I am thinking $7500-8K.. Terry?
$9200-9500 if it's Covered in Smucker's Strwaberry Jam, I mean Jam up.
In any case, our dealership had an S80 2.9 they were selling at a reasonable price (see the Sedans/S80 section of this site).
However, we currently still have 12 months left on our lease on the T5 wagon. After shopping trade in price (2000 S80's are not in short supply due to 3 year leases ending soon), I have gotten offers for trade in on this wagon as low as $20,500. Residual value for the car in 1 YEAR will be $22,500. I have gotten as high as $22,500 for it as a trade-in value now.
These numbers seem really low for a 2001 (picked up in 2000) with only 27,000 miles. If its any help here are the options:
Leather
Headlight Washers
Homelink
Convenience Package (cargo net etc.)
Volvo-Installed Handsfree kit for Nokia 5100/6100/7100 series phones (has a microphone and speaker built into the headrest which is the color of the leather in the car).
Geartronic Transmission
Am I missing something here with regards to value?
AS
This was a $22 car new.
CarFax reveals an in-service date of Feb01, then one owner until July '02, and since that time, it hasn't moved off this particular dealer's lot... (why didn't they ditch it?).
Car had 10yr/100k warranty on the powertrain, of which 5/50 is transferable to the new owner... so they get another 20k miles and almost 3 years... good idea on a turbo.
For $11,900.
A little brinksmanship should have taken that down another notch, but what the heck.
For all my insistence that new is often a good option, that sounds like a deal to me... too bad it's someone else buying the silly thing.

Looking to trade-in or privately sell the following:
2000 Passat GLX sedan, white, 32,000 miles, manual trannie, 6 disc changer. Everything's stock.
Very well taken care of: no dings, dents, scratches; just a few minor chips in front, as expected from Colorado winters.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

I'm just consulting on this one, but I thought it'd look good in the laboratory parking lot... but I think I'm gonna recommend passing..
On the one hand, there's a good chance that there's nothing wrong and it was a one-time glitch. On the other hand, with all the beaters I've had, including some really questionable jalopies, the only time an "overheat" light came on even briefly was in an '80 Chevy van that had serious coolant flow issues.. hey, not to worry, for freeway driving, i'd pop the hood and take the thermostat out... voila, instant freeflow.
Anybody's got any clever ideas, don't be shy, now's the time...

I was wondering if someone could take a shot at the fair private party value for a 2002 Nissan Xterra XE-V6 4x4 (Gold Rush, AT, PS, CD, Tint, Tow Package, excellent condition, just hit 10K miles) selling in Idaho. From looking around the area, somewhere in the 18s seems fair, but TMV is showing closer to 16K. Many thanks in advance!
Looking for trade in and sell it myself values,
Well!! its a 5 speed with the 2.2 4 cyl Ecotec engine. Silver exterior,no dings or stone chips but does have bumper scratch. Clean interior.
17,000 easy miles. In SW Wisconsin.
All the usual power stuff PLUS----
Power Glass Sunroof
16" Chrome Wheels
Anti-lock brakes
Monsoon Sound System
Rear Deck Spoiler
Thanks Bill
Any suggestions on a fair price?
Located in the San Francisco bay area.
Thanks,
I'm 2nd owner, had it 3 years, bought dealer certified & has Clean carFax. Very clean well cared for car (aren't ALL our trades beautiful ??<G>)
This is (maybe) traded on new BMW 325/330 at a fair price to the same dealer who sold to me and the first owner, so I need a "real value".
The Edmunds Trade Values seem a little on the low side. Am I right about that?
Checked on-line trade prices, sale prices on-line and local sales( not much around here) and looked at http://www.roadfly.com , but there seems to be a wide range.
As always, thank you very much!

Camry??
Solara??
Could be a lot of things:
Honda will add more profit into the sale
Buick willing to make less profit
Buick thinks he can sell it for more
Honda plans on wholesaling it
Appraising a used car is subjective, and can depend on the dealer's situation (Ie: if they have eight 99 Toyotas they can't sell, they don't want another very badly).
Some low-ball the trade and discount what you buy; Some offer a great trade, then want sticker. They may do what they think you want out of the deal: great trade or great price.
You can ask what they would pay cash for the car (of course they might lie if they think you're just feeling them out)
You need to look at the whole transaction to evaluate a particular deal. Good research up front on the trade and on what she's buying is important. Getting a few appraisals of the trade helps too, but some may inflate the trade hoping it will get you back in for a sale.
Info ..!
Terry ;-)
Down Retail Rd, you should know the drill by know .. spend the xtra $$ and get a great detail, fix any odds or ends, a great Ad in the biggest newspaper in your area for $9,900 and let it go for $8,9/$9,5 ..
Good luck ...
Terry.
You should be able to purchase a ultra nice, ultra clean, 20k, 00 S80 for under $19,9 - what are they asking .?
Terry.
Terry.
I think since they only offered $5,7, the only place this vehicle will going, will be to the auction .. this dealer just doesn't have a home for it and doesn't want to take any risk.
Terry.
Ok, let's take a look .. it's got a handshaker, no help there .. miles are ok for the year and it's a good color .. so if it's has no re-paint, no invasions from drive-in driveways and deep in rubber, then trade side you should be seeing in and around the low to mid $14's .. down Retail Rd, $16,9 in the paper and $15,5/$16,5 sends it down the Elway Highway ..
Let us know ..
Terry.
It has nooo miles, it's it an auto, it's a LX, it has all the nice LX stuff and it's a good color .. unless someone has beat the $#*& out of it on the NYC streets and parking, then trade side you should be seeing an easy $12, probably more towards the $12,5 range ..
Terry.
Perhaps you didn't push the right buttons and such for the Xterra on the TMV Edmunds program, plus depending on the vehicle they can be off, way off .. but anyway, these dudes are kinda strong all over right now, they are doing the $16's all day long in Florida on the trade side .. so they gotta be worth all that and then some in Idaho .. $18 is more than a fair asking price on the retail side, most dealers I know are getting $19 for them with 25k ..
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Gr Am's are like love bugs, there all over the place .. gheeez, what can I say, it's gotta handshaker, the miles are kinda on the high side, it's a 4 banger .. but it's a 4dr, the slider and the tunes, a saving grace ..
Trade side, you are looking in and around the mid to high $6's .. a little trip down Retail Rd, $8,900 in the paper and $7,5/$8,0 makes it go away ...
Terry.
Good luck ..
Terry.
