........ These little buggers..are.. still doing quite well at the block......So, if I were you --- I would try to retail it first, before trying to trade it.......
2001's are doing about $18,500 / $19,500+....so perhaps this gives you an Idea...
........aaaaaah, yes ....Nissan the new frontier..
Ok, so its trade time ....the miles are great -- so thats a big help --- and -- it's an automatic..that's even a bigger help...
The sound of new tires..you get some help ...and to top it off....it's a Kingcab.......all righty then- if it's nice and clean --- and, you are not afraid to take it home to mother.....I'm thinking -- it may be worth something in that $8,000 to $8,500+ ish figure...( real money )
Yeah, optimally I'd like to find a 740, but they're few and far between up here, plus the ones that are here, they want an arm and a leg for, and something that old I couldn't pay cash for; not right now at least...I'll try to give you a call, but I'm only going to be there for two days, probably pulling 12 hour days, both. I'm sure you know what that's like. :-)
What can I expect for a trade-in on a 93 Grand Am with 87000 miles. It's the 5-speed Quad 4, A/C, Power Locks and ABS. The rear defrost does not work. Also, the stearing rack or gear, whatever the guy called it, could be replaced. The estimate was $340. I know the Quad 4 gets a bad rap but I've had this car for 4 1/2 years and the only repair beyond brakes and 2 new tires was the water pump had to be replaced. It's been really good to me. (Milwaukee, WI area)
Any pricing on the Ford Explorer Sport? It's got 25K miles, Florida West Coast, super clean, new in 9/1998, leather, SOHC v6, sunroof, rear A/C and radio controls, alarm, roof rack, new Dueler tires, In dash CD and tape, class III trailer hitch, garage kept. No 4X4.
It's the cleanest SUV you'll find. No marks/dings/scratches anywhere, you can see your reflection in the dash board it's so shiny.
Thoughts? Kelly Blue book says 20K, but they must have hit the crack pipe hard.
......Well, my friend.....is it a SE..or..a GT....based on the number you have received...I'm going to guess it's a SE model...and I will guess it's a 2 door.....
Hmmm, let's think about this for a while....It's got's lot's of miles....It's a hand shaker...it needs a ---whach a call it, Well..I'm thinkin' .. that appraiser is pretty darn close.......
Passat's ..great cars even with 87,000 miles...you will enjoy it, I'm sure....
.......It sounds very nice and clean --- the miles help it a bunch, it's a 2 door -- that doesnt help, it has leather-- that's a good thing...and the roof makes up for the leather....it's a 2 wheel drive and dual air- in FL, that's a plus ( don't tell us it's black ..or.. dark blue - that doesn't help )...and it's an auto..right..?
Ok, I'm thinkin'...this little cream puff is worth in and around that $11,500 ish figure...( real money ) ..--
Bretfraz - sorry about the multiple posts. I hit refresh after I clicked "Post My Message". I figured it would refresh the page, but it actually posted another two messages.
Terry - thanks for the info. It's hard to imagine a 1998 Nissan Frontier goes for 3.5K less than my Explorer, considering the list price between them 3 years ago was probably about 10k. Oh well, I guess that's what happens when they start flipping over.
Now I'm thinking of buying a "slightly used" 2000 Camaro to save money. I found one that looks real nice, every option in the book, only 3K mi - it was delivered in 12/00 - for $17,000.
Is that a good price?
It's at a regular used-car lot down in the Lone Star State. I have the VIN so i can do a carfax check but are there any warning signs i should look for in a car that has been traded after about 90 days of ownership? he says he got it at an auction; that seems very unusual for such a new car to be running thru the auction after only a short time off the floor! Of course, since it was delivered in 12/00 it was probably sitting around un-sold for 3 to 6 months because its a 2000 model. Do you guys see this a lot? Cars going thru the used dept. when they're so new? Or is it a sign that something might be wrong......
.........Just some food for thought here....Just keep in mind ---- a great option is "retailing" your vehicle.....
Whether or not, it's the folks in the Explorer...or.. the folks in the Frontier ...or anybody else...it's an option you can pursue --- and pick up an extra $1500, $2,000 or more depending on the vehicle.....
Does it take a little more time and effort..yes.. ---- but, sometimes a few extra dollars ..-- can be a great motivator....
I am thinking of trading my 01 Jetta GLS 1.8T. The car has power windows, locks, cruise, tilt, A/C, AM/FM cass. and the cold weather package. Its also a 5-speed. No leather, moon roof, or alloy wheels. It also has 2 sets of tires (don't know if that matters). Color is tornado red with a black velour interior. It has 4800 miles on it. I want to get an older (95-96) high mileage (75K+) SUV to beat around in and that I can pay off quickly ($12K or less).....am tired of the whole new car thing. My Jetta is clean, well other than the broken windshield which I am having replaced. I am a non-smoker and don't let my kids trash my car (they know what will happen if they do). Oh, and I live in Alaska. I have talked to one dealer (they didn't see my car) and they said somewhere between $15K and $19K...nothing like narrowing it down!! Thanks.
.......Mazda's are great vehicles.....and it's a shame about the marketing programs...I just don't get it....
But anyway, it sounds clean...and the miles are low --- one little drawback, it's a 5 speed..but, the 2.5dohc V6 will save it ...and I'm sure it has the wheels...I'm not sure where you are from --- but the black, will hurt it in Fl...But, if this is a yankee car..it sometimes helps .....Most dealers are going to looking in and around a $10,000 ish figure ( real money )..plus or minus...
I hope this helps......buy the way, what type of vehicle are you getting ready to buy...?
No alloys unfortunately. About as far away from FL as you can get meteorologically speaking. I'm in MN. Car is very clean except floormats ( snow and salt and all that ).
I was thinking somewhere between $16,000 and $17,000. I'm not too bad off in it considering I rolled negative equity into it from a Nissan Quest....now those things depreciate!! I owe about $20,500 on the Jetta, I may keep it until fall and sell it on my own.
they don't call the base model an "rs". It's a base model, not a Z or SS.
I'm still leaning toward the new one because this one has aftermarket window tinting & chrome wheels. I hate aftermarket stuff. I know a place where I could get a set of GM wheels for $800 but doubt I can remove the tinting. Looks like the difference in price may be $2000 between this one and the less-equipped '01...but then again, this one that they want $17K for has more equipment would retail for $23K on the '01. what I really want is the Y87 suspension and I could care less about leather & TTops.
that did indeed help. what a bummer! part of my down payment is acutally just paying the tax on the vehicle.
How come the title, transfer, and registration fee can vary so much from dealer to dealer? What should be the expected cost of this? ie 1% of sales price or some such thing?
I am looking at the end of my lease on a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT, leather, 21K miles, CD changer, most options but no sun roof. To purchase I will have to pay $16,950. Ford Motor Credit will not lower the price. What is the current market value for my 99? I am looking for opinions on whether it would be better to purchase the truck or look at a 2001 (and it doesn't have to be another Explorer).
........The Honda's are still hot.....and if this 23,000 mile Ody is in great shape.....no dings , no dent's....interior will stand tall...
Most dealers, will be looking in or around that $21,000+ number...maybe a tinge more..depending on the condition....these little wagons, don't surprise me anymore...
A friend of mine has a 1996 Camry LE sedan (four cylinder) with 32,000 miles on it. The car is dark green with automatic, the gold trim package, the wood trim package (interior), regular (not alloy) wheels, AC and AM-FM with CD. The front bumper suffered a mild hit but was professionally repaired. What can she expect as a trade-in on a 2001 Camry Gallery series with cloth seats, spoiler and a four-cylinder engine with automatic? And what is the invoice on the 2001 Camry Gallery series?
.......If, its a base.......not a LS..and the way you have described it, it sounds ....like a base...then my friend--- you are looking at some figure in or around $10,000 or less..
If it's a LS...you are then, looking around a $11,000 figure and less.....
I hate to be the bad guy on these.....but, it's 4cyl..and a handshaker.....ouch...
I know this won't help.....
Bill... On the grand - am.... I read it wrong...I thought she said - she was offered $3,000.......l..o..l..
I have no idea what cost is on a new Camry, I don't have a Toyota dealership (Boy I wish I did!) but from what I know, they generally have 1.5% of MSRP as advertising... especially in the southeastern states. bear that in mind when shopping.
As far as the 96 goes.. I think it's worth $8,500-9K or so.

Good Luck...
Terry.
Ya got my #, right? Melbourne aint that far away... maybe an hour or so from where I live near Orlando.
Gimme a shout.. I'll buy ya a beer.
Hmm, what about an old 240/740 or something? Better than the Cav...
Bill
Turbo Beetles are still hot, a lot of VW dealers have no problem selling the new ones at over list!

Man, at $11.5 I'd snag that Exploder in a minute!
You can see a pic here...

A whopping three days of ownership, but I am in love with it:)
Is that a good price?

Excellent shape - no dings.
Any of you experts have a ballpark idea ? Trading on a 40K car but drove a hard bargain on the price.
I know Mazda's poor marketing and great new deals make this fine car less than great for resale but hey let's see what I'm looking at.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 extended cab, 4 cyl, 5 speed, A/C, CD, white, tinted windows, bedliner, with 8,000 miles on it.
Any idea what I could get for it on a trade in (in Florida)?
Thanks.
New car is Audi A6 2.7T.
Leo
I think that $3,000 is a bit too much for that car. Retail yes, But as a Trade-In I'd peg it at about $1,000-1,500 or so..
Sorry to be the bad guy here.

Well, partially. Consumer rebates are taxable.
Here's an example:
2001 Volvo S80 2.9: MSRP $39,575
Selling Price: $38,250
Trade-In 98 Volvo S90: <$17,000>
Dealer Fee: $ 299
Difference Total: $21,549
Tax 6% $ 1,292.94
License Plate/State Fees: $ 106.50
Sub-Total Sale Price: $22,948.44
Rebate: <$ 1,000.00>
Total Sales Price: $21,948.44
Balance Owed On Trade: $10,000
Amount Due: $31,948.44
=============================
Less Down Payment: $ 5,000
Amount to be Financed: $26,948.44
Hope this helps!

$17K seems OK... methinks $15,500-16K is a better price for ya.
But, like I keep saying, get the car you WANT!
That being said, I see Camaro values about to tank myself...
Bill
Reg and title vary state to state... we cant mark them up, but we generally charge a doc fee to cover our getting your new reg for you.
Here in FL a transfer is about $100 and a new tag is about $220 or so...
Bill
IMHO, $21K-22K... depending on color and condition..
Bill
$15K at best on a 2WD... $16K is to the moon on a 4WD wholesale... So if you like it it's not a bad buy at all on a retail level.
Ford never, in my experiences, negotiates their buyouts. Which is of course idiotic.
Hope this helps!
