2001's are doing about $18,500 / $19,500+....so perhaps this gives you an Idea...
Good Luck...
Terry.
Ya got my #, right? Melbourne aint that far away... maybe an hour or so from where I live near Orlando.
Gimme a shout.. I'll buy ya a beer.
Hmm, what about an old 240/740 or something? Better than the Cav...
Bill
Turbo Beetles are still hot, a lot of VW dealers have no problem selling the new ones at over list!
Bill
Ok, so its trade time ....the miles are great -- so thats a big help --- and -- it's an automatic..that's even a bigger help...
The sound of new tires..you get some help ...and to top it off....it's a Kingcab.......all righty then- if it's nice and clean --- and, you are not afraid to take it home to mother.....I'm thinking -- it may be worth something in that $8,000 to $8,500+ ish figure...( real money )
I hope this helps...
Terry.
Looking to buy a 2001.5 Passat!!
Thanks!
It's the cleanest SUV you'll find. No marks/dings/scratches anywhere, you can see your reflection in the dash board it's so shiny.
Thoughts? Kelly Blue book says 20K, but they must have hit the crack pipe hard.
Hmmm, let's think about this for a while....It's got's lot's of miles....It's a hand shaker...it needs a ---whach a call it, Well..I'm thinkin' .. that appraiser is pretty darn close.......
Passat's ..great cars even with 87,000 miles...you will enjoy it, I'm sure....
Terry.
Ok, I'm thinkin'...this little cream puff is worth in and around that $11,500 ish figure...( real money ) ..--
I hope this helps....
Terry.
Thanks
Terry - thanks for the info. It's hard to imagine a 1998 Nissan Frontier goes for 3.5K less than my Explorer, considering the list price between them 3 years ago was probably about 10k. Oh well, I guess that's what happens when they start flipping over.
Man, at $11.5 I'd snag that Exploder in a minute!
You can see a pic here...

A whopping three days of ownership, but I am in love with it:)
Is that a good price?
It's at a regular used-car lot down in the Lone Star State. I have the VIN so i can do a carfax check but are there any warning signs i should look for in a car that has been traded after about 90 days of ownership? he says he got it at an auction; that seems very unusual for such a new car to be running thru the auction after only a short time off the floor! Of course, since it was delivered in 12/00 it was probably sitting around un-sold for 3 to 6 months because its a 2000 model. Do you guys see this a lot? Cars going thru the used dept. when they're so new? Or is it a sign that something might be wrong......
Whether or not, it's the folks in the Explorer...or.. the folks in the Frontier ...or anybody else...it's an option you can pursue --- and pick up an extra $1500, $2,000 or more depending on the vehicle.....
Does it take a little more time and effort..yes.. ---- but, sometimes a few extra dollars ..-- can be a great motivator....
Terry.....
Terry.
Excellent shape - no dings.
Any of you experts have a ballpark idea ? Trading on a 40K car but drove a hard bargain on the price.
I know Mazda's poor marketing and great new deals make this fine car less than great for resale but hey let's see what I'm looking at.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I have talked to one dealer (they didn't see my car) and they said somewhere between $15K and $19K...nothing like narrowing it down!! Thanks.
But anyway, it sounds clean...and the miles are low --- one little drawback, it's a 5 speed..but, the 2.5dohc V6 will save it ...and I'm sure it has the wheels...I'm not sure where you are from --- but the black, will hurt it in Fl...But, if this is a yankee car..it sometimes helps .....Most dealers are going to looking in and around a $10,000 ish figure ( real money )..plus or minus...
I hope this helps......buy the way, what type of vehicle are you getting ready to buy...?
Terry.
I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 extended cab, 4 cyl, 5 speed, A/C, CD, white, tinted windows, bedliner, with 8,000 miles on it.
Any idea what I could get for it on a trade in (in Florida)?
Thanks.
New car is Audi A6 2.7T.
Leo
I think that $3,000 is a bit too much for that car. Retail yes, But as a Trade-In I'd peg it at about $1,000-1,500 or so..
Sorry to be the bad guy here.

Well, partially. Consumer rebates are taxable.
Here's an example:
2001 Volvo S80 2.9: MSRP $39,575
Selling Price: $38,250
Trade-In 98 Volvo S90: <$17,000>
Dealer Fee: $ 299
Difference Total: $21,549
Tax 6% $ 1,292.94
License Plate/State Fees: $ 106.50
Sub-Total Sale Price: $22,948.44
Rebate: <$ 1,000.00>
Total Sales Price: $21,948.44
Balance Owed On Trade: $10,000
Amount Due: $31,948.44
=============================
Less Down Payment: $ 5,000
Amount to be Financed: $26,948.44
Hope this helps!

I'm still leaning toward the new one because this one has aftermarket window tinting & chrome wheels. I hate aftermarket stuff. I know a place where I could get a set of GM wheels for $800 but doubt I can remove the tinting. Looks like the difference in price may be $2000 between this one and the less-equipped '01...but then again, this one that they want $17K for has more equipment would retail for $23K on the '01.
what I really want is the Y87 suspension and I could care less about leather & TTops.
How come the title, transfer, and registration fee can vary so much from dealer to dealer? What should be the expected cost of this? ie 1% of sales price or some such thing?
Leo
Most dealers, will be looking in or around that $21,000+ number...maybe a tinge more..depending on the condition....these little wagons, don't surprise me anymore...
I hope this helps ...
Terry..
$17K seems OK... methinks $15,500-16K is a better price for ya.
But, like I keep saying, get the car you WANT!
That being said, I see Camaro values about to tank myself...
Bill
Reg and title vary state to state... we cant mark them up, but we generally charge a doc fee to cover our getting your new reg for you.
Here in FL a transfer is about $100 and a new tag is about $220 or so...
Bill
IMHO, $21K-22K... depending on color and condition..
Bill
$15K at best on a 2WD... $16K is to the moon on a 4WD wholesale... So if you like it it's not a bad buy at all on a retail level.
Ford never, in my experiences, negotiates their buyouts. Which is of course idiotic.
Hope this helps!
Bill
If it's a LS...you are then, looking around a $11,000 figure and less.....
I hate to be the bad guy on these.....but, it's 4cyl..and a handshaker.....ouch...
I know this won't help.....
Bill... On the grand - am.... I read it wrong...I thought she said - she was offered $3,000.......l..o..l..
Terry.
I have no idea what cost is on a new Camry, I don't have a Toyota dealership (Boy I wish I did!) but from what I know, they generally have 1.5% of MSRP as advertising... especially in the southeastern states. bear that in mind when shopping.
As far as the 96 goes.. I think it's worth $8,500-9K or so.
Hope this helps!
