    Any help appreciated! Hers's the repost:
    2001 Maxima GLE with ALL the options, AUTO, beige, very clean in and out, top-notch maintenance, new tires and 80 K miles.
    Need to know private party value.
    Here's the thing though - got rear-ended a month ago – bumper’s slightly bent (you have to really look to notice), and a few scratch marks left on bumper.
    My dilemma - buy, paint and install a new bumper for about $500, or do nothing? What is my private-party value, AS IS vs. with NEW BUMPER?
    Thanks!

                 ==============================

                 It will depend on how much damage there is to the bumper .. if it was tapped, pushed in and it has spider webbing showing the hit and you hafta look close, then I would leave it alone - it's got 80k, not 28k ...

                   Anyway .. it's a 01 GLE with 80k, auto, good color, you say the service is 100% ... the rubber is deep and if it runs, looks, feels, handles like a 28ker and no other Wal-mart kisses or repaints ... then depending on where you live ~ trade side, in and around the low/mid $9's, maybe "might" find a dealer to drop the low low low low $10's in it, depending on the barometric pressure and the location .. the miles hold this one back ...

                       Down retail Rd, a super detail, all the service history hanging from the mirror, a wonderful 4/5 liner Ad, $11,900 *asking* and $10,5/$11,5 should get a new owner - again, the 80k is the Bad News Bears on this dude .... let me know what happens.!

    ...... Everything is just hunky dory ...

    2002 Subaru Legacy L wagon, AWD/auto, silver/gray, power windows/locks, cruise, am/fm/cd, a/c, no hits or runs, car is in very good condition. Has good snow tires on it now (yup, I bought those too). Miles are hanging around 40k I believe (I haven't been home in 12 days, so

        =========================

            Hows the baby doing.? .. not you - your daughter.!

                These things get some serious money, even in the land of mooses'sss'sss ... you know the deal, clean, no we carried 8 tons of wood to my neighbors house thing ... winter is coming and it only has 40k, it's gotta be worth the mid/tall $10's, I've seen dealers in the Left Coast area drop $10 on 70kers .... Retail Rd, $13,900 *asking* and off it goes for $12,5/$13,5 ............................. ;)

    Glad you are ok. My daughter is doing ok, not getting better very fast so we are looking at another 7-10 days I think. She's going as nutso as me, she wants to go home, she has a big brother to fight with and a cat to play with. However, we don't want her home until she is well again. We haven't been home in almost 2 weeks.

    Just came from the Nissan dealer, my Titan is finally fixed. As far as my mom's car is concerned, she be buried in it unfortunatly, guess I'll just keep making the payments for her. If she hadn't rolled the $2k from her other car into it she'd be doing *okay*. Ah well, the other one gave up, so wasn't much choice there. As soon as her shoulder is better I think things will improve for her. The Subaru is a GREAT car, no trouble with it at all, I'd rather see her keep it since she drives 150 miles/day.

    I just followed a guy into Walmart who just bought this car. In a word...OUTSTANDING! Beautiful lines on the outside and the interior was a bulls-eye. The front seat felt wonderful, even with my bad back. I would definitely buy this car if I were in the market for a mid sized car. Ford rocks with this baby!
    On a sad note, my mother in law passed late tuesday nite. She was a wonderful woman, a true lady! We are devestated!

    sorry to hear about the MIL. consider yourself lucky to feel that way, because MANY people wouldnt give two spits. glad to hear you had a good relationship.

    as far as the five hundred, it is a very nice car. i was a little underwhelmed by the engine power, but the interior dimensions rival that of the crown vic.

       ..... Sorry to hear about your loss, good ones are hard to find .. my Mother in law was more of the Lizzie Borden type, so I'm sure she will out live me ............... ;))

               I think the 500 will do fine and it's priced right .. I'm just a little surprised on how Ford shipped them across the country, some dealers have had 25/30+ for almost a month, some dealers have -0- ...

        ============================

              $16,5 ..?!? ... The miles are low for the year ~ and ~ if it glows in the dark, seats been hovered in, knee deep in rubber, the guy walks around with an umbrella over it on cloudy days, it needs nothing, no repaints, no touch-ups, it's puuuurfect and it needs -0- .. then it's a $8,5, maybe a $9ish vehicle depending on the dealer come trade side ..

               I see your from the western NY area ... at the first smell and look of the falling leaves or the first "hint" of snow in the air you won't be able to give these sport types away, especially vehicles like Trans-Am's, and in another 2/4 weeks anything past the Mason/Dixon line ..... $16,5 .? .. this guy is standing waaay too close to the Jim Beam - the books can show anything they want and owners can ask anything they like, and if it's a one owner and they have kept it since day one, then they think they have something really special, and it probably is - too them ...

                 The reality is, dealers are paying the tall $16's for the 01's that are "in-the-wrapper" with tiny miles and will cut em' loose for $19,5 or less ........ $16,5..? maybe in Argentina .. it's a $12,9 vehicle on the retail side and it's a $16,5 vehicle if you want to make a planter out of it for Christmas ....................... :)

                     May the force be with you ....

    LS package
    tinted windows

    3door
    excellent condition

             ==============================

               Hmm, sounds like it could be a nice one .. ecab 15 pass, LS, 1 tonner, 5.7, low miles, hot and cold running breeze, power pack .. hey, if it's a nice one, clean, no KFC, no meteorite hits, deep round things and it's not some kind of whacked color ... then the dealer might have the super tall $12's, low $13's in it, maybe a little more because of the short miles and it's a Ecab 5.7 ... down Retail Rd, I would think mid/tall $14's ... whats he asking.?

    private seller, $15,100. Title shows 12,000 miles in last years ownership by this seller. 3yr/36,000 expires November 2004. Claims to have all maintenance records; have not done test drive yet. Vehicle has lien to credit union; suspect price reflects payoff.

    Hi everyone,
                I would appreciate an estimation of dealer trade or private sale value on this car:
    2001 Accord LX 4 cyl. sedan,71,000 miles, dark green. The interior is good but it does have a few small scratches & stone chips on the front exterior. It's been well maintained & runs & drives very well. Tires are OK (40-45%). I recently had the transmission replaced under the Honda extended warranty for the 2000-2001 model years. I'm in Ky. near Louisville.

    Thanks for your assistance.

             Brembo brakes are nice to have, especially if you live in a school zone ... I have know idea what you paid for the other stuff, but it means -0- to a dealer and not to many "real" buyers care to pay the extra $$ for it - can we spell STOCK.? ... take as much of the stuff off and go Ebay with it ....

                 If it's a nice clean "stock" SI, then trade side, in and around the super high $10's low low $11's, might "could" see a dealer wander up towards the $12 figure if you take off all that hinky Banzai business ..... the miles will save this one, but the other stuff has the resale of 3 day old cabbage ............ :)

                           let me know.!

    I put my pride in my pocket and realized and cant get a new vehicle. So, went to a local resale lot and came up with this car. I have to tell them by 9pm tonight if I want it any ideas?

    Location: buffalo ny
    Year: 2000
    Make/Model:buick lesabre custom
    Mileage:86,500
    Engine:6 cyl 3800
    Transmission - auto
    Color - ext - dk blue/int - tan leather

    Condition: "detailed" couple of minor pings on paint no major that i can tell.
      Tires - new
      Brakes - very good
      Maintenance - no info as of yet
    Other: chassis and engine compartment very clean asked them where it came from cause it had no corrosion at all, they said FL

    rode great on city and hiway roads nothing out of the ordinary. any ideas on price they're asking $8950.

    thank you!

    ..... I wanna shuffle off to Buffalo - or maybe not .....

                 Ok, we have a 00 Buick lesabre custom with almost 90k ... we have the no-sale blue thing going on, but we do have the tan guts in leather, we have cold breeze, the rubber and the stoppers seem to be good, Florida vehicle will show up on the Carsmack and he's only *asking* $8,950 ... if it's a nice one, clean, serviced, no K-Mart classics, no funky history, no funny stuff in the ashtrays ... then your lookin' down the barrel of a $5,000 vehicle - dealer side that is ..

                     $8,950 on the Retail Side.?? .. not a problem, If ~ it has 35/40k and the service is from yesterday and it's been stored in your Grandma's garage ...... a 90k Custom.? $7,500 is ALL the cookies in the cookie jar.!

                 I doubt anyone will be breaking down his door for this one -- is it 9PM yet.?

    So maybe I'm easy 'cuz I'm spending your money, but methinks $7000 and maybe a couple hundred is a lot of car for the money -if- this bad boy checks out at the dealer or a competent mechanic... you're in the "sweet spot" for used cars; $7 buys three times as much car as $3,500, that's for sure...

    I despise Buick interiors, but I think the car has a nice classic shape, the engine is GM's best, and if the ride/handling works for you, sounds like a winner.

    Not to be a wet blanket, but I'd try to finance this for a "short" period of time. And CARFAX the thing once you get the VIN... why don't they post it, that's silly...

    I see a price of $7271 on that page... Looks much better than $9k. The engine is one of GM's best, except for the intake manifold gasket (~$800 repair)... The good news is, at 85,000 miles, it has probably already gone and been replaced. Check for oil in the coolant and vice versa.

    .... You were just on the cusp, so you guys got to miss all the fun .l.o.l.. .. lots of damage from New Smyrna beach down and not far from you, Martin/St Lucie took a big hit, lots of folks without power, phones, water, gas, etc - and lets not forget all those roofs and flood damage from Frances, which makes it 10 times worse .. I drove down on Tuesday and you couldn't get much farther south than Sebastian unless you stayed on the main roads ... lots of folks without a place to live .. it's bad.!

    I told them that I would wither call or come in today. Any suggestions about these 2 items.

    Ha, you think that's bad, look up a 2000/2001 Focus, its got recalls and TSBs out the rear. I'd imagine the Titan is getting that way too, I got a recall notice in the mail yesterday.

    Buick makes a good car, I have a friend who has an 89 Lesabre with 240k on it before it needed an engine and tranny, he did both and the car drives like new again.

    Called buick they say that all but one Recall/TSB has been completed.

    Feeling better, now. Cover me I'm going in.

    I cant thank enough all that have helped and all the responses on the board as a whole.

    Terry, Steine and Corvette may you drive long
    hard and successful.

    look closer, though. the focus hasnt had a single recall since 2000. only 2 TSBs too.

    You sure? I checked the NHTSA website and for the 2000 Focus I come up with 13 recalls and 275 TSBs.

    For 2001 there are 9 recalls and 154 TSBs.

    For 2002 there are no recalls on the regular Focus but it has 112 TSBs and 1 recall on the SVT and 2 TSBs.

    2003 has 70 TSBs and no recalls, 2004 has no recalls and 22 TSBs, 2005 has no recalls and 4 TSBs.

    The Titan is at 2 recalls and 13 TSBs so far, not too horrible I guess.

    1998 BMW 740IL, 4dr, V8, Auto, RWD, etc.
    87,800mi
    Silver W/ gray leather interior
    Sunroof, power everything, DSP, DSC, side shades, powered rear shade, heated seats(frnt).

    Interior leather is spotless & supple. Rugs show little or no wear, mats are stained. Everything works and the headliner is clean.

    Outside, never in a wreck. Front, rear, and side lights updated to the 2001 euro style. Typical tiny nicks here and there on the nose, the front of the car isn't peppered with them though. No door dings at all. Scratch on rear bumper the size of a quarter. Scratch on passanger side front to rear door (pencil thin, no paint broken).

    Tires are Michelin's about 3 to 4 months old, maybe 8000 miles on them.

    Front brake shoes and rotors are coming due in about 500 miles.

    This car has been inspected (Major 1 & 2) every 15000mi, by an indie shop. Oil changed with synthetic every 4000 to 5000mi. No Mechanical issues what so ever, just the brakes mentioned above

    No priors and a clean carfax....

    Thanks,
    Mike

    2001 Montero Sport XLS
    4dr
    3L V6 4WD
    60,000 miles
    Standard XLS options - CD, Running boards, Privacy glass, A/C
    Clean with no glaring imperfections other than small chips, 1 and half year michelin tires (50% or better)

            ============================

                 Aaah, the old Montero Sport .... this one is an 01 4WD XLS V6, we have the boards, the solar glass and we lookin' at 60k ... if we don't have any Wal-Mart battles, no visits to Maaco, deep sneakers, no soccer Mom interiors and the service is from yesterday .. depending on the color, then trade side, in and around the super tall $9's, might get a dealer to struggle and roll into the low $10's - if it needs stuff, start deducting ...
