Thanks for the info. I'm 39 months into a 72 month loan, and the balance is $19k. Good to know I am not in a bad shape.
I've received some crazy bonus offers from Ford in the past week, so I am crunching the numbers to see if in any way it makes sense to trade out of the Sienna and into something like a lease of a Taurus-X or Edge for my wife.
It's funny how dealers talk about the "hassle" a consumer goes through to sell privately but refuse to acknowledge what a "hassle" it is to buy from them!
Thats a strange thing to say in a the middle of a thread that is filled with nothing but car guys taking the time to tell people what the ACV of there trade in is. :confuse:
Thinking about trading my Subaru in for something with more backseat. Here are the facts-
Seattle, WA 06 Forester X 4 cyl NA / 5MT AWD 22K miles Steel grey/grey interior Good condition save for one scratch in drivers door approx. 2 inches long. One [repaired] ding in windshield. Tires are very good, brakes at 90%, fully maintained by local Subie dealer with records.
Subarus are pretty popular here, so I would think a dealer could move it pretty quickly. Anyone want to give me a trade estimate?

Hi all- Need an idea what I'm likely to get from the insurance co for my current car, then an idea on a couple of pick-em-ups:
I'm in Northern VA.
My car: 2002 Mazda Protege ES 62k miles Green with grey guts 5 Speed Standard ES options only - cruise, PW, PL, A/C, sport seats, CD, foglights, alloys No other options like roof, ABS, side airbags, etc. Was in great shape before I got caught in the middle of an 8 car pileup.
Interested in one of these: 2005 Frontier 4x4 SE Crew cab (4 door) Red/grey 48k miles V6, 6 speed MANUAL PL PW Cruise CD Keyless Alloys
or
2007 Frontier 4x2 SE Crew cab (4 door) Black/grey 11k miles V6, 6 speed MANUAL PL PW Cruise CD Keyless Alloys
Any info on insurance payoff for the Protege, and what I'm likely to get the dealer to bite on for these trucks?
Do you like the 09 model? They stretched the wheelbase (and that back seat).
I wonder if they will have the guaranteed trade-in allowance program that they had during the Impreza launch.
People were getting unbelievable money for their trades. Someone got $17 grand for an 07 Impreza 2.5i that was used. You could buy a new one for that much at the time.
I'm not holding my breath because the rumor is the insiders at Subaru don't think the 09 Forester will need the marketing help that the 08 Impreza got.
The rumors around here are that the GTP won't happen for the Forester since they are pretty confident it will be a winner anyhow. With GTP, I'd give the '09 a long look. Without, well, those Pilot deals right now are awfully good...
i think the number they give you includes sales tax, so you may want to ask that question, if they don't volunteer it. You should go to carmax to see what they are selling similar cars for. It will give you a pretty good counter argument, if you are not satisfied with their offer.
sorry about your car.

Want to buy a new 2008 Expedition Eddie Bauer MSP of 37,750.00. Dealer is selling this car before trade for 29,817.00 plus taxes and dealer fees. Kelly values it at 21,350. Nada at 21,700 Edmonds at 19,660. Why the big differencw? Also what is the black book? it lists values lower than these. Thank you . JIm K
Cincinnati, OH area '08 Honda Accord EX-L V-6 Sedan 3.5 liter V-6 Front wheel drive 125 miles (yes, 125) Alabaster Silver - black leather Moonroof, power/heated seats, satellite radio, climate control Condition - new
Located in Sault Ste. Marie, MI 2000 VW Passat 4 dr sedan 4 cyl turbo FWD 103,000 miles Carbon Blue (very dark) exterior, black interior Major options: Alloy wheels, auto sport shift tranny, CD changer -- other standard items on GL model, Condition: Very Good to excellent, always garaged (I am original owner), almost always serviced at VW dealer (few oil changes at local tire place), tires are 1 yr Goodyear Eagle all-season with about 8K miles on them, one accident (front-end all OEM replacement parts -- no probs as the repair occurred 3 years ago. Only driven by adults.
The repair was done exceptionally well -- as I mentioned it occurred over 3 years ago and I've not had any problems. In fact, I would think that as all of the parts were replaced with new OEM items, that would make the value of the car higher!
Well, I also have an '07 Accord SE V-6 that I bought last April, and still only has 500 miles. I was going to give that car to my wife, and I was going to drive a new '08 Accord.
So here's the deal, I went to the dealer and was originally interested in either an EX V-6 or an EX-L 4 cylinder. Both are pretty much the same price. I was aware of the VCM "issues" on the V-6's but wanted to see for myself. I test drove an EX V-6, and really couldn't see anything wrong with it, but mind you this is about a 25 mile test drive. I then took out an EX-L 4-banger. It seemed to have adequate power, and I did like the leather and other upgrades that come along with the EX-L package.
Now it was decision time, and while I was trying to decide between the power of the V-6 and the leather of the EX-L 4-banger, the wife said I should just quit being a cheapskate and get the V-6 AND the leather. So I did. The problem is that I did not test drive the car I was actually going to purchase. I know, my mistake.
Well, fast forward a couple of weeks and 75 miles of driving later, and I am disappointed with the VCM in my particular car. The part that bugs me is when it goes from 4 cylinder operation to 3 cylinder. And back and forth, and back and forth numerous times depending on road conditions, traffic, etc. I'm pretty anal about my cars, and I frankly just don't see myself being happy with this long term.
I've monitored the VCM thread, and nobody seems to know why some of the V-6's seem to have this problem and some don't. Maybe it's the sensitivity, or lack thereof, of the individual drivers. Maybe it isn't. If it a problem with specific cars, it doesn't seem like Honda is really pursuing any type of a fix. the operation of the VCM system certainly isn't seamless, and "unnoticeable to the passengers", as the Honda advertising states.
Anyway, sorry for being so long-winded, but this is the reason I'm wanting to get rid of the car. And the dealer who sold me the car DOES NOT give a rip.
Bottom line, what kind of hit did I take for driving the car off the lot two weeks ago?
I have a 2003 Silver Lexus LS430 with navigation, Levison audio, moon roof, with 55,300 miles. It's in great condition. I'm in the Hartford, CT area. I want to try and figure out the trade-in value. I looked at NAS, KBB, and Edmunds but the dealers are only offering me from $18-20K for it. I feel like I'm being ripped off. All of the dealers say that KBB doesn't matter because it's the market price, but yet I look at their used car inventory and see almost the exact same cars listed for $29K for retail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gerry
If you really believe there is a problem with your car, you should take it up w/ Honda Motor. Either they fix it, or Lemon the car. Trading the car and taking it in the shorts doesn't sound like a reasonable option to me.
If she takes this one, you can hold out for the Forester diesel! (and all of those other things that will magically appear on the car one week after you bought one)

In FL, I am looking for trade-in of a 2005 Sienna XLE Limited with 29,000 miles.
Color is Pearl White with Grey Leather Interior. The only option package is the DVD Rear entertainment. Just about everything else was standard.
It is in nice condition. Just a small scratch on the exterior at the bottom of the rear bumper. Interior is clean.
All service is up to date, tires have about 20% remaining.
Thanks.
Location is in FL.
Thanks Again - Damon

Sorry, I've never heard of having an accident will bring the value to higher unless we're talking about a beat-up car v. a repaired car.
For a 27-29K car, I guess it might be around 3 to 4K assuming you will trade for another Hondas? :P
Well, that made me chuckle this morning

Lemme know what you end up doing. It's not really what we're looking for, but I think she'd go nuts for one of those.
Funny thing is she wants a compact AWD crossover. Lexus LS is close enough!

I doubt you'd get much discount.
Couple grand at most.
You'd think it be worth more, but it's still an 02.
