So better to sell privately in MHO.
WOW!
Kinda scary, really. It would need all the fluids changed out to start. Probably belts, too.
Hope there hasn't been fuel sitting in the tank all this time, cause then the tank needs to be removed and cleaned, as well.
Tough to put a number on such a thing. Galves tells me that a "used" '04 LSE with, say, 200 miles, is worth round about $11k on a trade. SOOO... I think this is one you gotta think about "what is it worth to me?"
I know some folks put a premium on "untitled," but it doesn't make a difference once you buy it because then its worth what any other used LSE is worth with ultra low miles.
I had an '03 LSv8 for a while. Nice enough car, but it still managed to bore me, and 21 mpg on premium wasn't worth it. I get similar mileage now with my G35X, but I love the car so its the price I'm OK paying.

as far as the fluids go, i would change some of them.
my soon to be 18 year old mustang has some pretty darn original fluids in it.
i would be worried about the interior fading due to just sitting in the sun.
like i said, i will probably take a ride over to see it the weekend after next.
my wife is looking for a new vehicle, so i can check out some of those at the same time.
Year/Make/Model: 2001 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer

Tires - less than a year old

Other: It was in an accident once - I felt bad for the owner of the ‘68 mustang it destroyed. Front fender and driver side front panel were replaced
I think that wraps it up....what do you think I could get??
Thanks!

I have 1999 Honda Accord V6 Coupe EX , in very good condition and low miles. CarMax is selling the exact same car with higher miles for $10,000. And they don't negotiate the price. They really charge a lot for Accord Coupes with low miles. They had two other Accords like that and were charging $9500 to $10,500. Mine is fire engine red, so it will be worth more I think . I just had it repainted and all the small dents and dings removed.
The guy offered me with a straight face only $3500. What a joke.
I am pretty sure I can sell this private party for $6500, if not more. This model really keeps its value. What do you guys think?

Actually, I put a Bazooka subwoofer in my trunk on this installation. Do people still use those? It has greatsound
The appraiser didn't say anything about the stereo or fog lights as they are both Honda upgrades.
I would never ever buy a '99 that has already been repainted, and I'm sure many other buyers feel the same way, hence the huge hit to the value.

Small scrape on left rear. Otherwise excellent condition.
It has an extended factory warranty but I don't know if it is transferrable.
Even with the Newly repainted fire engine red, Bazooka subwoofer (!), & OTW insults from the owner??? What more do you want? :P
Every couple of months we hear some very weird story here, often involving Hondas it seems, not sure why.....this one is very entertaining......
The people who are questioning the value of my Honda V6 Coupe are not as knowledgable as I would have thought.
check this out: http://tinyurl.com/carmax99coupe
Maybe I should be asking $9400, not $6400!
Meanwhile, the phone has been ringing off the hook . .
I may have to raise my price.
gbrozen has been around here for a long time and asked a perfectly valid question. What's with the tricycle thing?
Your response indicates that, well, something is being painted over.
He gave me a lowball appraisal. I then asked him whether he intended to sell my car on his lot.
He gave me a double talk answer, saying only that he wouldn't make it one of his "front-line" cars on the lot. As if I thought Carmax would be putting it on their front line of featured cars.
He was obviously going to keep the car . . but he wouldn't give me a straight answer.
I might have just gotten a bad Carmax appraiser. I was surprised about his silly word games that he was playing, ,and the ridiculous offer.
End of subject. I have moved on to bigger and better things.
Folks here are trying to help you fairly.A car is worth what its worth.
No need to tell someone that he can afford a tricycle. If you can afford so much,,why are you worried about a paltry, measly, miserly $4000.
Folks here are helping u-- don`t berate them or be sarcastic
The car you mentioned selling for 10k-- well its never been repainted and its only 40 k miles.
No reputable dealer would ever buy a repainted car.Even if he does,he will send it to auction.
Any repainted car-- it kills,,rather hammers the trade in value ..Who knows what else is wrong with the car?
List it for 6500 or whatever u want and let us know what it sold for and be truthful about the selling price!!!
Actually , the car they were selling had 117,000 miles on it, not 40,000. Oh well.
What's 77,000 miles between friends?
And who knows whether it had any paint work? Most 10 year old cars have had some paint work done sometime or another.
Carmax sells them at that price without haggling. If it sits on the lot for more than 4weeks with no test drives, then they lower the price a little bit.

I was tired of it looking like that, so took the plunge and get a fresh coat of paint . Most people would think that a plus, as opposed to a dulled paint job that was worn out by the sun.

On the other hand,Carmax is the best place for buying new cars .They have the best price including TTL for the new cars. And so,,it is the best place to get a new car-- low upfront price,,no pressure or bait-switch.
But used cars--totally different story. It is totally useless for buying used cars.
If you just want to sell your car--then u can get it appraised it at Carmax--take it or leave it-- or use it when negotiating with a different dealer.
Nobody likes repainted cars. Instant value killer.
The most expensive cars in the world have been repainted.
It's amazing the stuff that you read on these boards. Amusing, if nothing else.
If you have to have one, please take it elsewhere.
Second, as has already been discussed, repainted cars trigger a red alert w/ a car dealer.
Whatever you tell them doesn't matter, they won't believe you anyway.
Neither will most consumers.
Third, who cares what Carmax asks?
You can ask whatever you want. Getting is a whole other matter.
If some fool pays them $10 grand for a 99 Accord, more power to them.
Put your car on Craigslist and move on.

2000 Toyota 4runner Limited 4wd
Mileage: 135,500
Color: off white/"Sand Dune"?
All the usual options in Limited trim
Overall in average condition. No accidents, the usual minor scratches for a 10 year old vehicle. Tires near new, brakes near new. I'm the 3rd owner and it's had regular maintenance since I've owned. No records from previous owners.
CarMax knows what they are doing. If they don't sell in two weeks, they lower the prices.
Carmax is not the only dealer in the world. If they are selling them for 9k,,go ask them to give you a trade of 7 or 8k.Complain to them.Argue with them.Be sarcastic with carmax agents. Why grumble here?
Why come here and berate people? No one is forcing you to trade in.You asked a value--you got it,,that`s it.A car is worth what its worth.
Repainted cars have horrible resale value...period...
Good luck to your phone ringing..Answer it instead of wasting time here and posting... :confuse: maybe you will get lucky..
Perhaps you are jealous that I lucked out and got a model that really keeps its value? Every teenager and college student wants the car that I am selling. Perhaps that annoys you that I can sell the car at a tidy profit?
Oops , I have to go now. Two prospective buyers are trying to set up test drive ASAP. I had no idea it would this easy to sell my 10 year old car.
me jealous??? dude,,,i dont keep my cars for 10 years,,I can manage that..
Post back your sale price...we are interested

High miles for an 06 model.
Volvomax can give you a more accurate value.
By the way, next time you have an oxidized and faded car, take it to a good body/detail shop. You'd be amazed at what a good professional buffing can do. It will cost a couple hundred bucks, but its way cheaper than a paint job.
Anyway, we've taken up enough board space trying to answer your questions and be helpful. Short answer you may like is that you should ALWAYS sell a 10-year-old car privately. You'll get much more than trading it in. And I'm sure you've already sold it with all those phone calls you've already received.

NOT a selling feature on a 60k car.
I agree w/ del, $5500-6000 is the money.
