Yo Q! I did the GT Dream Cars Groupon thing this past Sunday. All I can say is WOW! I've never driven a Ferrari before and was blown away by the F430. The car was an F1 Style Automatic & they basically just have you leave it in (D)rive. Everything about the car was just amazing. That Ferrari V8 screaming behind me was worth the price of admission. I definitely wouldn't pay full price for the 4 laps, but it did get me interested in taking my car to the track. I think they actually will rent the track out for 6 hour periods for a reasonable cost.

NYC, you could join the BMWCCA. They rent track time at various places, Monticello, LRP, etc.

    Hi all,

Would love it if someone could give me some auction info on my car. :D

    I'm in Long Island, NY.
I am looking to trade in a Silver 2004 Volkswagen Golf GLS Automatic 4DR.
    Heated seats and a moonroof.
    It has 79k miles.
One of the latches to fold down the rear seat doesn't work, but otherwise it is in good condition.
  • tjc78tjc78 Member Posts: 16,946
    Hey Q,

May be selling my Fiance's 2008 Elantra.

    GLS,
    35000 miles
Great overall shape, original tires 50%, interior as new.
Bad Carfax. 9K damage when new.
    South Jersey (near Philly)

I'm thinking maybe listing at 10,500 and take 9K. Or.... just get a buy bid from a dealer and take 8500.

    Am I in the ballpark?

The pain is we still owe a little on it, and that always poses problems with PP sale.

    miles around 80,000 or so?

Having trouble figuring out a price on this one because the miles are fairly low for the year. Dealers have them listed for about 9000 but this one is private party.

a few feelers, a couple of low balls without ever seeing it, and 1 guy that came out, seemed to like it, but I have not heard back from.

I do have someone from Delaware that was real anxious to see it. Emailed with him earlier in the week and he wanted to come out tonight or tomorrow, but I will be surprised to actually hear from him today.

I expected a lot more interest, especially after I dropped the price 1K, and put it on cars.com too.

Oh well. Live and learn. I guess I should have tried to sell it before buying the new car!

Assuming no runs, hits, errors, and maintenance up to date, knee deep in rubber, etc, a dealer will probably hit you between $3500-$4k on it.

Sounds like a good private party car. $6495 asking, and $5500 taking.

Not even close, I'm afraid. Non-damaged ones with those miles are only getting the high $7s at the block.

As always, its real tough to judge without seeing the repair work, but assuming all is top-notch, that's still gotta be a good 20-25% hit on it. So maybe worth $5500 to a dealer??

color combo and options would help here.

$9k would be bold unless it was really special.

Here are your under 100k comps:
    08/24/12 FT LAUD Regular $5,700 74,302 Avg BLACK 6G A
    09/19/12 NY Regular $4,000 92,178 Avg BLUE 6G A
    09/12/12 SAN DIEG Regular $6,200 95,704 Above SILVER 6G A
    09/19/12 CEN FLA Lease $4,700 97,960 Avg SILVER 6G 6
    08/23/12 PHOENIX Regular $3,300 99,182 Avg BLUE 6G 6

So... private party? Pretty much the same as the above Golf: Asking $6495 and taking $5500.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

OK, I thought I might be high. PP sale will be the way to go. There are a couple for sale at dealers nearby and they are asking $11,500 and two for 13k!

I have a friend who may be interested. Not sure how I would price.

Repair work is pretty darn good and was done with all brand new parts. It probably also helps that the repair was done when the car had less than 200 miles on the clock.

Based on the auction data, no way a dealer on a straight buy bid would offer more than 6K.

    Thanks!

Well, based on what Q reported, I am going to have to drop my offer down to 5K.

if a dealer can get 13k for that same basic car, something is wrong with the world! For what, 17 after incentives you can buy a brand new one?

Transactions prices on those have moved up. They're now higher than Civic or Corolla. The Limited models have heated rear seats, even.

With higher new car prices that dealer is fishing for someone who sees a sticker price in the 20s and can't afford new.

I went and looked it up. So it appears to have premium and cold weather. Aftermarket head unit, which can be a problem if they didn't keep the stock one wired into the car somewhere, so I've read.

The price actually worries me a little. I would think a dealer could offer $17k on it, especially a bmw dealer. Then again, I guess they couldn't certify it. Anyway, at $17k, that means $18k with the tax incentive. So why bother going through this trouble for less than $500?

Anyhoo.... I would get it checked out. Nice color combo.

A friend was put in touch with a guy needing to unload the A4. Anyway, he offered the guy 8000. The middleman is the mechanic for the A4 who somehow concluded the car was worth 8000. I haven't seen the car but 8000 for a 10 year old A4 just seems a little high. Then again, will defer to the mechanic regarding condition but it seems as if he is paying retail for a private party sale.

How much should I expect that value to change in a month? I got my quote with intent to buy a Countryman on the lot but then ordered it. It's being delivered in port on the 3rd so I should take delivery around the 10th of October. I was told they'd need to reappraise the car at that point. Mileage is a couple hundred higher but otherwise car is exactly the same.

    Thanks!

picked up a 2013 Audi A6 prestige tonight, white over beige with 20 inch wheels, full led headlights and all weather mats. Sticker was 60995. Showed me $20000 for my car. Difference was $37987 less $1000 conquest cash (so $200 over invoice). Dealer traded for the car - only white/ beige prestige in Indiana. Got lucky as I am friends with GM and sales mgr. Got 1.9% financing for 63 months with no prepayment penalty too. Woo Hoo!

Can someone please let me know what to expect to receive for trade-in on a 2001 QX4?

    2001 QX4
    4 door
    Automatic
    2WD
    90,800 miles
Tow Package, Sunroof, Factory HID, no navigation, no DVD
Interior is clean - no rips/tears/stains/etc. The cupholder has the top part missing, which seems common on these.
Exterior is clean for the most part. The car is two-tone, and the lower part is a little faded. I'd imagine it would look much better after someone spent some time with an orbital buffer. The power antenna snapped off in a car wash, I was planning on replacing it before selling. The front bumper has minor paint chips from rocks, etc. Nothing major. No dents or scratches else where on the vehicle, it has never been in an accident or repainted.

The brakes of fine, the tires have were replace 10-15,000 ago, they have plenty of tread left.

The oil was recently changed, as was the front fan and one of the belts (not sure which one, it was toward the front).

Thank you in advance for any help!

East Lansing, MI. This is being offered at work.

    '06 Volkswagen Jetta sedan, black.
    56k miles, 2.5 l 5cyl engine, manual transmission.
Usual power options, accident-free, maintained, garaged.
No roof, I don't think. Let's assume alloys.
    Non-smoker.

What's it worth at the auction?

    Thanks in advance,

hmmm... nothing with those miles to compare to. All examples with 75k and less were in above average condition and were right around $11k.

Sooo... I dunno... I'd take a stab at $10,500 at the block. Maybe, if its real nice and all serviced, someone might throw $10k at it on a trade.
