I admit, my choice of wording was poor and had that whining tone -- not my intention. I was chastised by Terry and I apologized. The ONLY reason that I chose to repost was because I was unsure if my request had been missed since later requests had been filled. I understand that I am getting a free service from people who have other responsibilities, and for that I am very thankful.
It was just meant as a friendly nudge. Sorry to ruffle feathers.

Please don't send me to my room!!! Thanks!
Thanks for your help!

GAJeep: be prepared to take a bit of grief for the miles. Apparently, they built Florida a little closer together than Georgia ended up. I put 4,000 more miles on my car in the last 3 weeks, and only saw the state line on one two-day trip.
We also went ahead and got the 1996 Civic EX for $1600 + our 93 Civic w/ 143k. They gave us $2750 for our 93 Civic so with the sales tax savings it ended up being closer to $3500. Not bad considering we only wanted $4000 WITH the stereo system, wheels, and speakers.
Terry.
Next time, you will go the back of the line .... waaaay back ..l.o.l..
Anytime you can do some basic work on a vehicle , it helps -- as a rule (if there is such a thing) .. 1 dollar in - 2 back.
Have a nice Easter...

Kidding ....!
Ok, we have a 94 ES300, with a lot of miles.
What will sell this vehicle, is the condition. If it's nice - clean - looks 98ish, deep in rubber, headliner and carpets are fresh ..ya know, the neighbor thinks it's a 98 or 99, than this will sell. Limited dings, dent's, etc ... and it shines.
This actually, is a great retail unit -- I have a friend that makes a great living on just selling Hi mile Lexus, Toyota, Volvo's, etc.
Get it detailed -- make it look new .. on a trade, it's worth around $4,0/$4,5 -- cleaned up, and on the retail market .. I would start it up at $6,950, then let someone slap me silly to $5,9/$6,2/$6,500 ...
I hope this helps ... and lets us know.
Terry.
If they have hit you with $20 (real money) .. I think they may be all in, there are trying hard to earn your biz. A few bucks here and there ...maybe.
It's time to cut that bad boy from the herd ..!
Terry.
By the way --!! Where is Dr. Bill, Bill Sr. Bill JR ... I hope he isn't getting another face lift, one more of those ..and his belly button will be on his forehead .. oh, well.
Terry :-)
1) 1997 White Eddie Bauer 4WD Ford Expedition with 80,000 miles and in good condition. It has all the goodies (including VCR entertainment center) except a moonroof. The car is in good shape with only a few minor dings and scratches. Tires, brakes, etc. are all in good condition as well.
2) 1997 White Limited 4WD Toyota 4Runner with 80,000 miles. This one has all the goodies as well including sunroof. The car is in good shape with a few little dings and scratches. Tires, brakes, etc. are also in good condition.
Thanks in advance!!!
1998 Ford Contour Sport SE, Silver, 67K, 5 speed, premium wheel, am/fm/cd, air, power seat/windows. Great condition, just doesn't seem like its worth much.
Any guess?
Thanks,
Eric
Mid-1998, Ford "de-contented" the Contour. The SE no longer came with the V6, all disks, etc. Mine is pre-decontenting (enough prefixes?), so it has the important stuff except for roof and leather.
Contours are very soft now, but I got mine originally for the same price as a 4-banger Civic, so it was worth it.

Thanks for your feedback.

Not saying turning a profit is bad here. It's just frustrating for the consumer.
Yours is the right color (kinda) .. it's an SE, so it has the toy's, plus those SP's are great tires. ... But -- it's a handshaker ..and the miles are stiff for the year..
For the market these play for .. a 5 speed can hurt em' bad.
If you have a dealer that is going to give you $4,8 for the vehicle, then grab it .. these folks are working super hard to get your business. Most dealers will be $4,0 or under ... miles and a handshaker ..? Ouch!
Good luck ...
Terry.
Thanks
LIKE the Friggin miles ....! Does it have 4x4, does it have new tires ..etc.
Thank you, for joining our little Jamboree!
Terry.
Nice vehicle... miles are in the "far side", and those "handshakers" come back to haunt you ...
IF .. the vehicle is deep in rubber, super clean -inside and out- looks 01, you will be in a far stretch for the upper $4's --
Sorry, I wish I had better news ....
Terry.
Maybe they are still giving outrageous trade allowances 8^)
I went back a week later, and they told me the price was still $69xx. I told him, it must have sit a while, the new tires you put on were down to about 20psi, LOL.
The sales guy was just downright livid that a customer would be so observant and armed with a bit of information.
I drove back to the office and decided to call and ask for the used car manager. (I kinda got worked up during the drive.) So I ask for the UCM and told him that my saleman must not like me, as I think he was a bit rude. I explained that I was interested in the Contour, but not at the $69xx price that the sales guy quoted. I also told him that his guy didn't make a counter offer, just rejected my offer. I said, he'd be lucky to get $2500 at auction on the unit. He said he had more than that in it, but again the previous UCM was the one responsible for that car on the lot, and they had $5400 in it. I told him it sounded like he was buried deep in this trade and it wasn't really worth even that retail. Further, I told him it really looked like the car had been there for a while with the brand new tires really low on air, and he agreed that it had been there a while. He said he might trade it to a dealer in Illinois, and I reminded him that I would like an opportunity to buy it before he traded this "No Deal Teal" car for someone elses dog.
He told me he would probably move the car next week and he might call me before the trade.
I thanked him for his time. Much nicer than the salesman.
But if anyone above mentioning the Contour trade is in the St. Louis area, I'm looking for a 4 or 6 cyl stick shift as a daily driver.

Hey, you supposed to watch the Crimson Tide -- not run over them with your Honda .. gheeeez.
The color is right, the miles aren't, it has the V6 .. so, you have some help there.
But we have one small little detail ------ $6,000 of damage to the vehicle. What ..? did you hit the Linebacker ..? I will bet he's mad as heck.
On that much damage -- I gotta think you are lookin' at a $6/$7,000 vehicle. Your lucky you didn't hit 2 of the tides Lineman ... it would have been a total .... l..o..l....
Goooo Tide ...!
Terry.
The miles are a little stiff on both -- but the Ford will take the hit here.
If the Expedition is super nice and clean - inside and out, your lookin' around the high $12's low $13's ...
The 4 Runner, with it being a Limited .. will bring all the money - even with the miles .. IF, it's looks new and needs -0-. The high $14's, the low $15's for this one.
I hope this helps .....
Terry.
Re-post ..or drop the post # ...
As soon as we get Bill out from underneath that Porsche -- he will be right as rain. Hey' . ..I told him to use better jacks! l..o..l...

SCENARIO:
I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on a scenario I am working with right now. We are replacing one of our vehicles with a new SUV. We are looking at both the 2002 Ford Expedition and 2002 Toyota Sequoia.
A local Ford dealer is offering their 2002 Eddie Bauer 4WD Expedition for only $31,975 which is about $10K UNDER total MSRP and $4,700 UNDER standard invoice. The NEW redesigned 2003 Expedition will be out in a few more months so they really want to move out the older 2002 models.
A Toyota dealer has offered me $40,550 for a brand new 2002 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4WD which is only in it's 2nd year. This comes out to $500 OVER standard invoice.
We are planning on keeping the SUV for about 6 years. We will end up putting on about 16,000 miles each year which comes to a total of 96,000 miles at time of resale. I know the Toyota Sequoia will resale for more but want to get an idea of how much more it could be worth over the Ford at this age of these vehicles.
My guess is that the Ford Expedition would be worth around $10K based on current depreciation for these SUV's. I would guess that the Toyota Sequoia would be worth around $15K based on Toyota SUV's great resale values. Do you all agree that this $5K difference in resale would be possible or do you believe the gap will be tighter? If tighter, how much?
I want to justify the Toyota Sequoia but want to get an idea of what the total cost of ownership would be on these two SUV's to find out the true overall cost. I know the Sequoia will be more expensive than the Ford which I can justify since there are quite a few things that I like about it over the Ford (smoother ride, nicer looking IMO, better quality, more reliable, etc.).
Which would you choose and why????
Thanks for everyones feedback. I really like the car, but just need something bigger. Seems like I'll be lucky to see mid $4K.
The books are a reference point .. they can at least give you a "ball park" .. these are not black and white -- and certainly not concrete figures. Even those who are in this business for a long time .. have some difficulties trying to figure, what can and should be.
As far as what vehicle will produce the best effect in 6 or so years --- that's a tuffy.
In my own stupid, humble opinion .. Toyota is not going to sit on the laurels. I believe they will expand their factories, produce more vehicles to meet the current and future demands.
Water seeks it's own level .. as does production goals. Ford has a Kazillion vehicles on the road, most good .. some bad. As Toyota builds more, I feel their values will equalize, as does all vehicles -- how much .. I could not say. Besides, my "crystal ball" is in the dry cleaners ... l..o..l......
Have a nice Easter ....
Terry :-)
My Saab is going in the shop .. again. l..o..l....
Oh well .. Get it cleaned up, make it look NEW, inside and out.
Take a nice 5 liner out in the paper .. describe it well - (not the part about it's in the shop) ..l.o.l.. Start it up at $23,950 -- and let some nice person take it for $22,5/$22,9/$23,3 ..
Hey .. Good luck, and let us know ..!
Terry.
Hit him at $3 and and stop ... then look somewhere else.
Terry.
$2,0 sounds a little weak, but $2,5 would flat kill it, based on what your telling us ...
Terry.
We're not letting Sequoias go for less than $1500 over, so if you can get anywhere near $11-12K on your Expedition on a trade, don't walk, RUN into the finance office and sign up.

I have a 2001 Toyota Camry I'm selling since January. I received a few offers. The best is $16000 for Carmax, a well know used car dealer here in Va. My interest in selling the car is to either lowering pymts or buy the truck I really want. Otherwise, get out of a lease that was a bad decision to begin wiht. Just wondering if $16,000 is going to be a solid offer .... here are the stats on the car:
2001 Toyota Camry LE V6 Gallery Series
No Accidents, No dents, No damage
Purchase date: 02-2002
12,647 miles
Two-tone Paint (no scratches)
Garaged, very clean, still has new car smell
Two-tone sport fabric
all the gadgets
sunroof, JBL cd/tape/radio system, ABS brakes
power everything, keyless entry
TMV.com website shows trade-in value as $17,553. I've been everywhere locally that I "trust" to go; and then some, just wondering if I could seriously get more.
Well anyway, it has the 2 tone paint ... hmmm, sounds like a Jim Moran vehicle ..l.o.l..
It a LE V6, slider and JBL -- can't get much more on this puppy ... it's loaded. And based on what you are telling us --- it's NEW with 12 klicks.
If the dealer has offered you $16 ... then you need to grab it ..! that's all the money and a bag of chips. They are certainly working hard, real hard, to get your business.
It sounds like a "baby doll' .. the $17,500 is more of a retail figure ..or darn close -- most dealers would tag this vehicle around the ultra high $14's, low $15's even with all the stuff ---
Terry.
Kevin
How's that go again ..? Roooooooll TIDE ..!
Gotcha ..!
Good luck ....
Terry.
