Who was your salesperson/closer/asst mgr/whatever that dummy (JB) is calling his people now?

But you should be cool I think. If not, lemme know. Desk Mgr there is a guy I know well and a very straight shooter.

PS, SunTrust indirect can prolly beat your CU's rate if yer 720+...

Thanks for the help on the 96 Mystique LS, we sold it through the paper. We asked $6,900 and your right, we got $6,000 for it. The dealer was going to give us $4,200.
Got another question for you, our friend has a 01 Mistubishe Diamonte LS, with a roof, leather, the wheels, it has 19k on it, it's silver with grey interior, it's nice, they keep it clean. What's your thinking here.

Again thanks in advance, you guys are a super help. The next time your in Philly. give a call.
    Thank you.

Hey, thanks a bunch for all your help. A few more questions, if you don't mind.

    On the '93 Burb -
should we pay to have someone try to buff out the one long scratch on the rt quater panel (there's no dent, but it's a good scratch)?

Also, with two small (really - they're tiny) rock chips in windshield - should we replace the windshield first?

Those are the only real problems with it. I already fixed those mirrors yesterday, and they seem okay so far.

Regarding the newer burb we're looking for: We'll take 2000, 01, or even 02. We'd like the miles to be around 15K or less. How do we go about finding the used one out there that is exactly the way we want. (Like we said, we're not in a particular hurry- the '93 is humming along fine so far.....Just anxious - you know?!). As we visit lots and the various salespeople offer to try to locate it for us, do we let several be looking or is that considered rude? Is there anything else we can do on our own. (So far nothing on the net, but I'll keep looking).

Regarding 4WD or 2WD, is there a noticeable mileage difference? If not, then we'd take either (maybe even 4WD would be the plus?).

    Thanks again, man!

...... Anything you can do too put some "eyes" on that bad boy, is going to help. The rock chips .. let em' go.

On the new Burb, finding exactly what you want could take a while, so be a little flexible ... the 4x4's are super, but they will cost a little more. Depending on the vehicle "about" $3,000 more .. the good thing is, at trade time, you will see about all of it back.

Just to give you an idea -- a clean 15k 2001 LT 1/2 ton, 4x4 Burb will role through the block at "around' $32+ ... a dealer probably has it priced at $36 ... as a rule, they don't give em a way.

What exactly are you lookin for ..?

I hope this is some help ...

    Terry.

It's great help! Thanks a bunch, Terry! I found something nice on e-Bay. It's in Texas and we're in southern Illinois, so a bit of a drive, but doable, I guess. Is buying on e-Bay a good way to go. (We've bought plenty of other junk on e-Bay, just never a vehicle). The price sure seems good. If all my bugging you is getting on your nerves, just tell me. :)

    Thanks again!

ugh! I just ran the free VIN check, and it came up:
1 records found in our database
Stolen Vehicle Results: Stolen Vehicle record found

I didn't order the entire report yet. Probably should. If I buy the $19.99 deal, I can run as many VIN checks as I want in a 30-day period?

Sounds good! You know it's probably true what they say: If something seems too good to be true...it probably is.

    Bummer!

I am going to be ridding myself of my problematic VW. Due to the moral quandry of looking someone in the eye and telling them, "It's a good car," all the while knowing I will go to hell, what is a reasonable trade in value on the following: 1999 Beetle GLS, Black, 2.0 gas, 50K miles, new tires, good not great condition, spoiler, CD changer.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,733
Thanks for the numbers on those vehicles, Terry. I'm really surprised at the Axiom. I have only seen 1 or 2 on the road so it seemed to me that they are largely unpopular and I thought that might kill the resale.

Seen any '02 MPVs, though? The '01 doesn't have the 5 speed auto and 200 horses, so I'd definitely be looking for an '02. Thanks.

    Ahhh..

Syed Sherif! I know Syed, a GREAT guy.. consummate professional. Also a good friend of mine, please tell him Bill Weismann says Hi! You are in very good hands with him.

5.25%? No.. youre prolly not gonna beat that. SunTrust's A-Tier buy rate is like 6.25 or so.
The trick is now, finding the car. I know the guys there, and guys in South FL, and in Jersey, and in MO, and that is a hard as heck unbit to locate.. so be patient :)

    Ya done real well!

PS.. give him a perfect survey.. Jimmy the Jerk fines his salespeople for bad ones!

Hey, you are incredibly generous! I paid the $19.99 online for the 30 days of Carfax reports, but somehow Carfax keeps saying it doesn't recognize me. I don't want to re-register and get billed twice, and no answer yet from customer service. There is no way to get a live person for help, either, so I have to wait 24-48 (or was it 48-72?) hours for a response from them. Not being graced with a whole lot of patience, I am getting to gain some. lol :)

There are two possibilities on e-Bay right now. The one I already mentioned is VIN# 1GNFK16T21J285749 and the seller is matthews2002.

The second burb that appears to fit the bill (not sure if it has rear heat), is VIN# 3GNEC16T01G258379, and the seller is lyons_n_tiger. The biggest problem with this one is that it is California. I have no idea how we would get it.

This is really too nice of you! Wish there was some way to return the favor. By the way, your alma mater is right up the road. We live in Mascoutah - east of Belleville about 10 miles. Small world! (but, as they say, I wouldn't want to paint it. :) )

    Thanks a bunch, Dick

So.....what's it worth now?? Hubby is dying to get rid of it and after its little stunt today I can't say as I blame him. I do want to prove to him that he's married to it until we get some serious down payment though. Here we go....2001 Dodge Ram 2500, 5.9L V-8, 4WD, SLT, x-cab, short bed, alloys, good tires, tow pkg, pwr windows/locks, cruise, a/c, tilt, am/fm cass, white/gray, bedliner, 20,802 miles on it....when the tow truck picked it up today. Oh and its getting a new transmission.....don't know if that helps or hurts.

Also, just curious but what is my baby worth....he says its gonna have to go too so we can get a new truck. :-( 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo SE, 60K, Select-trac, 6-cyl, silver/gray, new tires, new brakes, new shocks, very nice and very clean.....looks like an 01.

I'm trying my best to hold him off for another six months until the new bad boy Cummins Ram comes out.

    Thanks!!

If I forgot anything I will be in my room.

Wow - thanks for all the digging on the suburbans. Unfortunately, we didn't catch it until last night that the Texas suburban has cargo doors and we are really wanting a liftgate this time. Our past two suburbans have had the cargo doors and they obscure visibility - my wife insists on the liftgate this time around. It's a shame, because that one had everything else going for it. The seller said in an e-mail that the third seat was stolen (probably where the stolen vehicle report came from, don't you guess?). Don't know what a replacement seat would run.

The CA burb is close to perfect except for no running boards or sunroof. The sunroof isn't a must, but it would be nice to have. And you or Terry said earlier that you don't like the after market sunroofs...so, probably not a good idea to have one put in?! Trying to decide if the shipping charges from CA would be worth it.

There are a bunch of Knobelochs in this area. They practically own all of the surrounding land. I don't know Megan, but I know a few of the tribe - and they are nice folk. If you're ever this way, drop an e-mail and we'll put an extra burger (or whatever the meat of the day is) on the grill for you. I appreciate all of your help.

One final question: Do you guys ever help locate vehicles for online folks like me? (For a fee, of course.)

Thanks again! Have a great day!

My wife and I live in San Diego, CA and are looking at purchasing either a brand new 2002 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4WD (MSRP = $45,175 / Sell Price = $40,750+TTL) or a brand new 2002 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4WD (MSRP = $43,520 / Sell Price = ONLY $32,000+TTL!!!). We like both but prefer the Toyota Sequoia.

My question is that the Sequoia is obviously much more expensive on the initial purchase (exactly $8,750). To us, we feel (and can justify) the Toyota is worth about $4,000 more over the Ford through a period of 6 years and 100,000 miles. Do you think we will regain the $4,750 ($8,750 initial price difference -minus- $4,000 Toyota cost justification = $4,750 needed on resale) difference in resale after 6 years and 100,000 miles on the Toyota on a trade-in? What about on a private party resale?

With a new 2003 Ford Expedition coming out that will be significantly improved/redesigned over the 2002 version (like the 2002 Ford Explorer over the 2001 model) and the fact that the market is flooded with Ford Expeditions we are concerned that the Ford resale will be extremely difficult down the road.

Please let me know your thoughts...

Looking for a commuter car. Thinking either a 98 Mustang GT Convertible or a 98-99 Eclipse GST Spyder convertible. (I hate the body styles on the new models.) How are these cars trading in the auctions and any input on reliability would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, I'm looking at manual trans only.

I've narrowed my search for upgrade to my '90 740GL Sedan to either of the above. The dealer where we bought it from and where we bring it to service (northern NJ) has a few cars I'm interested in. From their website I found the following

    '98 S70 Base 47.4k miles Silver cloth - 12,995
    '98 S70 GLT 42.8k miles Pewter cloth w/ Sunroof - 15,995

    '99 S70 Base 35.8k Blue cloth - 17,995
    '99 S70 Base 39.5k Green Lthr - 17,995
    '99 S70 Base 36.1k Silver Lthr sunroof - 18,995

Doing a carfax on the 2 '98's show they've been on the dealer lot since last Oct. Not too sure about the 99's, but probably a least a month or two.

I'm sure they want to move the 2 98's, and I am particularly interested in the GLT.

I previously got a quote from here of about 2,5 to 3 as a trade on my current 740. What do you think I can get the '98's for, or should I bag those since they've been sitting so long and concentrate on the 99's.

Also, would being a repeat customer who usese their service help in negotiations.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

My nephew is going to put this up for sale and needs some guidelines on pricing if you could ...

'96 Range Rover 4.0 SE, white (offwhite?), 80kmi,
big-[non-permissible content removed] 20" chrome wheels and Eclipse sound system (sigh ... he's young, y'know), very clean

He thinks he can get 24 for it but I'm thinking more like 20.
    What do you think?

$22,500-23,000 as a trade, real Money. If you're on an 02 Expedition, be aware that the 03 is coming out soon and will be a total revamp (And is supposed to be a lot nicer)

    This means:

    A) Soon deals will be better on 02s, but why not see if you like the 03 better?

    B) OTOH, your truck will only get worse valuewise.

    Hello!

Nice car, right color, wrong number on odometer.

If its nice and clean.. really looks like a 20K miler.. no paintwork, $10,500-11K.

If its been painted on, cig burns..etc... Start deducting.

    Hope this helps!

    Hmm..

First, I think the Sequoia is a lot nicer, but it is a lot more money.

So, we've driven both, right? OK. Good.

OK, will it be worth $10K more in 5 years? I doubt it. $5K more if I had to guess? At least. Look at 4Runners, A 97 4Runner Limited with 75K is worth $14K or so, and a 97 Eddie Bauer Explorer 4WD is worth in the $8Ks..

So take it from there.. but its just sooo tough to call this now.

OK, if its not Purple or Yellow or some Brown color.. and its clean... and really looks nice..

    $4K

The 02 325i? Shop around, but I dont understand that theyare doing much in the way of discounts.
