He is dreaming in technicolor. If he can get $20K for it he is also clubbing someone over the head. Thats a $14K wholesale piece that you can get $17-18K for.
Tell him to take the stupid wheels and stupid stereo out of it and go back to stock. They'll scare off a lot of Rover buyers.
Yes, Chawton White is nice. Its a good color but the thing is miley.
I have a 2001 Audi S4 Blk with onyx interior, 6 speed, all options except nav and sports package. Excellent condition inside and out. Just high miles, 40K. Let me know
So.....what's it worth now?? Hubby is dying to get rid of it and after its little stunt Monday I can't say as I blame him. I do want to prove to him that he's married to it until we get some serious down payment though. Here we go....2001 Dodge Ram 2500, 5.9L V-8, 4WD, SLT, x-cab, short bed, alloys, good tires, tow pkg, pwr windows/locks, cruise, a/c, tilt, am/fm cass, white/gray, bedliner, 20,802 miles on it....when the tow truck picked it up Monday. Oh and its getting a new transmission.....don't know if that helps or hurts.
Also, just curious but what is my baby worth....he says its gonna have to go too so we can get a new truck. :-( 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo SE, 60K, Select-trac, 6-cyl, silver/gray, new tires, new brakes, new shocks, very nice and very clean.....looks like an 01.
I'm trying my best to hold him off for another six months until the new bad boy Cummins Ram comes out, but it ain't workin'. Looks like we are trading the Ram this weekend on a 2002. Hopefully they are being fair about it. Let me know what you think its worth.
what should i pay (Subaru Outback Wagon 2002 auto)? (from previous post:)
Granted, we haven't seen the vehicles, but according to the VINs, they are clean. Now, the vehicles are turning up local, leased out in july, looks like someone got a lien...ok, so they're clean.
the question is, what to pay? where should we even start to negotiate...edmunds TMV shows $22k new, but less 15% (a nebulous number, I know) depreciation, or so, and you get: ~18700. now, they prob. bought it for, what?
someone's going to get a sale out of me, i just want to pay what's fair.
That just might be true. We had no intention of trading again anytime soon, but dang, we can't keep our truck in our driveway, its always in the shop. Its pretty bad when the service department is begging you to trade it in cause they are tired of fixing it every 2 weeks.
Yes, It is Montclair. We bought our '90 from them and have been happy with the service dept. over the years, so now that it's time to upgrade, I want to give them first shot at my business. Customer loyalty, whatever you want to call it.
As for the cloth, the website doesn't say leather and the picture of the interior looks like dark gray velour. Personally, I'd like leather, but the sunroof is nice too.
So then, those prices seem pretty firm, or do you think they'd wiggle a bit?
From what I am seeing.. Looks like this is an easy $17,500-18K car at the auction, so figure $20-21K retail. I doubt it can be bought for close to $18,000 (I saw your other post..) Ugly secret revealed: We dont make money on new cars, but do on used cars.
I'd start em at $19K.. see what happens, but $20K-20,500 is realistic retail. Ifyou can get a new one for 22K though... thats close enough that it may not pay to go with a used 15K miler...
What are they asking for it?
I think its Hertz or Enterprise that rents these in VT and such, my guess is that's where it came from.
As far as the cars go.. the GLT looks liek the deal... Still, I'd haggle a bit. it is a great price, but it was rare for us to be totally firm. Even if they are firm, you no asky, you no getty.
As far as time on the lot, they'd sooner trade the Jag franchise for a Daewoo franchise before they let anything sit on the lot that long, unless it was used as a service loaner for 4-5 months, which is quite possible.
What salesperson you dealing with over there out of curiosity?
Right now I'm still in the 'research' phase so I haven't talked to an actual salesperson yet. I just had knee surgery a couple of weeks ago and only began driving again Monday so I've been scanning the web looking for what might interest me. Also, it's not alot fun going car shopping w/ a 5 & 2 yr old so finding someone to sit with them while we go shopping is another matter.
If he can sell you a used Volvo... talk to Paul Davis. Probably one of the best salespeople out there. And he knows the product very well and has been there forever. Very much a "here's what we can do" kinda guy. Doesnt play games.
OK, Good deal or not? I am trading Black 98 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS with 60k miles, leather, sunroof, brush guards, etc..in very good shape (So I've been told) ON a platinum 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo with Infinity CD Audio and Power Seats as the only options...TMV on my trade is about $13k, TMV on the Jeep is about $17,300..Heres what Ive been offered:
$17,200 on the Jeep $13,300 on the trade I am about $1k Upside down on the Montero So overall Id be paying $18,200 +TTT
Looking at TMV, I am coming out better on both ends, but I can probably go a little lower..What to you think.
You hit it just about right on the money for my trade. I believe you said 10,500 to 11,000. Their offer was 11,800. Most likely aggressive because the dealership owner also has an Acura Dealership next door. Go figure, they must have missed all the cigarette burns I hid under my collection of Dancing Hula Girls on the dash, just kidding.
Thanks for the help. I have a lot more peace of mind, now.
Have a 97 E320. 91000 miles, ASR, Bose, Sunroof, Phone, CD, Seat Heaters, Headlight Washers, Leather. Nice shape (tires 50%). What do you think on a "real money" trade? Ohio location. Audi dealer offered $15K. I thought it was low. He's calling around.
'96 Aerostar with 135K. Soiled carpet and interior, brakes and tires tired. (forgive the pun). Normal dings, normal wear on the paint, etc. KBB says $4500, Edmunds' evaluator says $1500, used car manager says $2500 in a push. Another dealer is allowing her $3750. I feel like a ping-pong ball.
Where do you hit an Atlanta 97 BMW M3 Arctic silver/black 55k on the clock, auto, slider, _all_ the toys, say 50% on the rubber...
Speaking of which, it's wearing Michelin Pilots all around, but the front has SXs, while the rear has Sports... Maybe a heavy foot and a light wallet?
Too, the lot is listing Inpection I on the window sheet - Isn't 50k a little late for that? They also list a 131 pt inspection, but no warranty... just a junk fee I assume.
No paintwork I could see, but a little road love on the air dam.
Just whenever y'all get a chance, and as always thanks in advance.
I was hoping maybe you could lend me some insight. My employer has an affiliation with the Dodge Corporation. Apparently, as an employee I can receive 1% under invoice in buying a new truck this way. So, I was able to look at the factory invoice for the new truck I'm "buying". At the bottom of the invoice, it listed the destination charge of $585, but then it also listed additional fees.
There are as follows: Washington Metro PPA / EB-PF $210 Washington Metro DAA $230
These are in addition to the destination charges. Any idea as to what there are? And if they're just to inflate the cost since I'm getting invoice anyway?
Also, the base of the truck price was a little inflated from the edmund.com invoice price. How close are the edmund.com's invoice prices to the "real-life" invoices?
...... How is our Alaskan Princess doing ..? -- besides running over Moose's ..and tearing up trucks. l..o..l.....
OK ... let's see here. It's a 5.9, 3/4 ton that's a big add, it's a quad and a SLT with the tow pack, 21k (21k in Alaska is like 11k any place else) -- and of course it's a 4x4, which is worth all the money in Moose country --
They wanna give you $19 for the vehicle .. that's very nice of em'. I can't speak for Alaska, but in the lower 48 that vehicle will do that same money -- IF -- it has 35k or better ...
I'm sure these are nice folks .. but you need to get them, to come up a little. You can't buy one like this in Dallas, Denver, Atlanta or Philly for $19, and with the Alaska market being around 5 to 10% higher than the rest of the country .. why do they think $19 will do it..? Probably because they have your vehicle on a *hook* (that they sold you) -- I have a feeling, if I looked at the UC Mgr's appraisal, it would read $21 -- to be fair on both sides, $20 is the real money here.
Happy Moose Day ...
PS. Your little Jeepster is worth around $11/$11,5 on a trade .. -- on the retail side, about $40 grand in the "Land of the midnight sun" .. l..o..l......
Thanks, they hit it at $19,800 and its got a busted windshield.......did I forget that part?? Of course they don't know that yet, but on Saturday they will. I think all things considered its a fair price for the thing.
Let's just say it's a 4 door .. it's the right color on the outside, but people don't forget what black interiors are like in Atlanta in July - ouch ..!
The miles are low for the year .. they don't match, but it has new tires (no biggie) -- all in all, it sounds like a pretty nice little rocket.
If it's nice, super clean .. all the maintenance is done and nothing on the vehicle than a little "road love" ( I like that, can I use that ..?) ... then this dealer probably has at least $21/$22 in it. These silly little things get all the money -- what's he asking ..?
..... Not to panic ... these are the DC AD charges for the area.
It's not a plot .. or a terrorist move l..o..l.. .. all dealers have a Advertising fee, some are regional, some are national -- So this is a legit fee.
Please advise on trade in value on 96 Mazda Protege LX, auto, pw, p.locks, am/fm cassette, michelin tires w/7,000miles, "sparkle green mica", AZ car (NO RUST) clean car, had some minor body work (RF fender replaced..paint matches) interior clean, non smoking car, glass was tinted in AZ, I understand that front door glass needs to be UNtinted in MI??? 46,000 miles being traded-in in Detroit area on a new 2002 (or 1 year old) Protege LX. Also realistic purchase price on 2001 LX auto 1.6L no moonnroof or alloy wheels, 13,000 miles, seabreeze (light green?). THANKS!
From the TMV on my grand caravan the trade-in value comes out to $3600. Dealer is only offering $2000. Says the market is full of these, and that's the best he can do. He did say wholesale is $4700. I believe the car I want to buy is priced right, based on TMV as well. So no games can be played on that end. Any ideas?
I have a 2001 Focus ZX3, dark blue, 13000 miles, auto, CD, power doors/windows. It was involved in an accident and had some bodywork done (front fender, hood, radiator) and airbags replaced, but no engine/transmission damage. How does this affect the resale value?
$13,300 on your trade is well over what they are doing at the auctions.
On to the Jeep.. a 4WD, right? V6? V8? Miles?
Say its a V6 4WD with 35K.. Its a $14,500 car at the auction, and yours is an $11K on a push, so that means that a realistic retail price on the Jeep would be $16,500-17K, and a realistic trade for the Mitsu would be $11K or so. With the miles I still think closer to $10,500.
$3,900 difference though? (And, when it comes down to it, thats what matters, right?)
It is a 99 Laredo V6 4x4 with 42k miles..Lease Return from Pennsylvania according to CarFax..I prolly will take the deal even if i cant get another $300 out of him, but I should be able to get him down since they have about 40 of these on the lot..Just waiting on my Credit Union to call me back on my loan..I was approved but I can't get in touch with em to get the details.GRR.
..... Ok, let's start again .. it has no miles for the year, plus it has new tires - and it's an auto and the power stuff-- so far, so good.
If it's as nice as you say it is, then this is a $3,500 vehicle, could creep to $3,7/$3,8 if it's perfect. (if not, start deducting)
The 01 is more towards the base model .. no cd, no slider, no abs, no keyless ... and the miles are fair. You should be able to trade your vehicle and "around" $7,5ish.
And yes, you need to shave off that dark tint -- unless, you want to be a household name, with every State Trooper from Grand Rapids to Detroit .. l.o.l....
Well, I am back in a market... sort of... Considering buying a used pickup truck. Doesn't have to be full size... Just something for occasional trips to Home Depot. What can I realistically buy under $5K at the dealer auction - which is where I will be going... Any suggestions? My pick would be a Toyota, but I am sure there are other viable choices.
Nashville, TN I am looking at a 2000 GMC SLT Ext. Cab 4x4 Z71, Black and Pewter, every option in the world, leather, power everything, yadda yadda yadda. Excellent condition 33k miles. Dealer's best price $21,900. Comments?
Looking to unload silver 2001 Civic LX 4dr 5 spd w/ 19k miles. All help appreciated.
What do you think a '95 Mercedes E320 Cabriolet, white/grey leather with a black soft top would bring wholesale and retail? Has heated front seats no CD. Also, it has 27,700 miles and new Yokohama tires. Excellent condition. This car listed for $79,000 new. This four seater convertible model on the E-class frame was only made in '93, '94 and '95.
Thanks, M.
2010 Land Rover LR4, 2013 Honda CR-V, 2009 Bentley GTC, 1990 MB 500SL, 2001 MB S500, 2007 Lincoln TC, 1964 RR Silver Cloud III, 1995 MB E320 Cab., 2015 Prevost Liberty Coach
..... If the Z is clean, "all there" and nice .. he isn't to far, from what he has in the vehicle. He probably owns it for $20++ even with the miles.
The Honda is a little stiff in miles .. and it has a handshaker - no help there- if it's super nice, no burn holes, no coffee fights, no "close encounters" with "cart wars" .. then your Honda is worth "around" $11.
A good deal would be your vehicle, and let's say ..$10,5/$11, plus the tax, the wax and the roof racks. (that's a difference figure)
It's the right color inside and out .. Bang, more help. Yoke's aren't my personal favorite, but they will sure get the job done right.
If it's stand tall, no touch up's, no paint work, all original, all records, needs -0- and looks 01 .. it will do all the money ..and then some. I just bought a 00 yesterday with 19k.
This "baby doll" should do $29/$31 on the wholesale side depending on the dealer. Now on the retail end -- this where you have to be careful. The books will draw it waaay up, but .. unless you have the "right" buyer for it, they mean nothing and you will never sell it.
1st class Ad, 5/6 liner .. present the vehicle and start it up at $37,950 and let some nice Scout Master take it off your hands for $36/$37.
I went to one of those high end used lots with my wife, They happened to have a Chrysler Minivan she wanted, lord please help me. The Van is 1997 Town And Country Lxi AWD 64k, Leather all power etc. appears to be in good shape. They are asking $12,999 they say already reduced. Oh yeah forgot to mention that it is purple. They also have a 1997 Volvo 850 Turbo wagon red with tan 70k auto leather, heated seats etc. etc. They are shopping it at the same price as the mini. This being said I told my wife to look at the wagon, she says okay. Later, she tells me the salesman pulled her off the volvo as fast as he could, telling her that if either car needed repairs it would be much cheaper to have the chrysler worked on. Am I crazy or will it also be a lot more likely to break down. Please send ammo I do not want a barney mobile. Do you think there is a bounty on the van? Is there anything especially good or bad about the wagon. Thanks

98 Mitsu GST ragtops? Pretty much similar $$.. $15Kish.. maybe $15,500.
Bill
Montclair??
The S70 GLT looks like the deal on the 98s... $15,900 is cheap for that car.. but.. did it say CLOTH?
The 99s are priced really close to what they'd do at the sale.
Those seem like very agressive prices.. Sounds like Montclair to me (Theyre generally the cheapest in Northern NJ on used cars)
Bill
$24,000? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

5sp, sunroof, alloy wheels, cd player, power, ac, etc.
It just hit 45k and i just replaced the tires. A couple door dings (nothing unusual) but overall it is in good shape.
Kbb is 6500 to 7000, what do you think?
thanks

I was gonna say $6K-6,500.. Less if its had paintwork and all.. $5,700-6K in FL, CLoser to $6300+ in CA
But KBB is reasonable on this one suprisingly...
Hope this helps!
Bill
HOW many miles? Yeesh! =O
Yeah, we both know that slaughters it...
Well, I see ones with miles in the mid-teens doing $31-32K or thereabouts...
But 40K is gonna hurt you. I think $27K is about where it would end up..
But stick it on eBay for $29,900 and I bet she sells
Bill
Im not the guy to ask on Pickups. I have NO idea.
Honestly.
TERRY? Paging Mr TERRY?
I think he ate too much Honey Baked Ham Sunday night and he is still sleepin

Strong deal. Take it!
Bill
You didnt mention the Hula Girls. those are a solid $500 add
Bill
What are they offering them $3,750 against? An 00 Windstar 3.8LX with 30K miles for $17,995?
Bill
In a disturbing sort of way!
If it's as nice as you say it is, then this is a $3,500 vehicle, could creep to $3,7/$3,8 if it's perfect. (if not, start deducting)

$16K...16,500... Past that, with 91K... you're dropping off the end of the earth.

Thanks for stoppin' by.. and let us know.
Terry.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
Thanks
