Your discussion of drive trains for Toyota Seqouias and other 4WDs was very helpful. I wonder if you might be able to help me diagnose a problem so I can get it fixed before I break down in the wilds of southern Utah whre I guide tours. When my 2002 Sequoia is under load on steep or rough roads, it makes a growling noise. I don't know if this is a gearbox or ABS or what. It does not need to be in 4WD to make this noise. In the past when driving through mud holes, I have lost power. Not sure if turning on VSC makes any difference. It seems to be getting worse. Could it be the chain in the transfer case or something? I appreciate any advice or trouble-shooting you might recommend.
