  • A new tranny at 60K on a 98 and you're thinking of getting a Sable? Are you a glutton for punishment? Read Post #45. Do yourself a favor and go with either a Honda or Toyota. I have a 99 Accord and an 89 Camry. The Camry is rusting away, but it takes licking and keeps on ticking. Spend the extra $$ on a Honda and Toyota…
  • I definitely feel for all of you. It's puzzling that Ford would ship out and hype such an inferior product without thorough quality assurance testing. You see all the commercials about how safe and sound the car is, and it's a piece of crap. Poor engineering, poor build quality. And to think at one time, I was actually…
  • I had two Toyotas in the 1990s. The paint jobs on them were terrible.
  • Rocky - I don't buy EVERYTHING at Wally World - just using it as an example. You know - why buy a widget for $20, when I can get the same widget for $12? at Walmart :) I don't buy clothes there either! Seriously, I believe GM makes quality vehicles overall and they are continuously improving. I'd rather buy say a Chevy…
  • I don't care about GM's profits. Why should I care? It has no impact on my life. That would be like saying I care about Target or Wal Mart's profits. I don't. I just know those are the places I can purchase quality items at the best prices. I care about getting a quality car at a good price. Looking out for #1! GM's…
  • Don't fret. With all the quality problems Toyota has been having (i.e. Camry transmissions) let the suckers pay MSRP for a Toyota and the rest of us will get the quality cars at invoice.
  • The Edge and the Fusion. I see lots of Fusions driving in Massachusetts. However, for all the hype where's the Edge? I've only seen one so far on the road - and that was on a business trip in Florida. The silly decision to rename the Five Hundred to the Taurus is bizarre. I see lots of Five Hundreds, too. All Ford needs to…
  • GM should stay the heck away from Chrysler. Concentrate on the development and evolution of their own brands, while eliminating brands. GM should dump Saab and Saturn. The Aura's getting good reviews, but it still has to overcome Saturns 17 year legacy of lousy cars. I don't believe the Aura is going to sell well. I'd like…
  • An 84 month loan is the height of personal finance stupidity. If a person needs 84 months to pay off a car, THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT! Car dealers are like credit card companies. They prey on the stupidity of consumers and their willingness to pay astronomical amounts of interest to make a personal statement. If you need an 84…
  • Make the front a little sportier similar to a Pontiac (not too much though), and maybe change the logo.
  • LaCrosses aren't bad looking cars. I'd like to see Buick make a change to the front grille on their cars, though. I think the front grille is the biggest contributor toward Buick's senior citizen image. What I find strange about GM is Buicks have had very strong reliability ratings over the last 10 years. I had the…
  • I had a 2003 Impala as a rental for 10 days and thought the car was cheap and not well made. However, the 2006 redesign looks really nice on the exterior and has received good reviews. I see them all over the place in New England. Besides the nice styling, is the build quality tighter on the 2006 models?
  • That's a hoot! No surprise that it was a Honda that could handle that type of abuse. Unreal. :P
  • The decision by Ford to rename the Five Hundred the Taurus is one of the stupidest things I've heard coming out of the auto industry in a long time. The most recent generation of Taurus was synonymous with rental cars and poor resale value. The Five Hundred is a good car! Granted the styling is bland (it's certainly not…
  • Toyota FJ Cruiser - homely looking vehicle. Pontiac G6 - looks like it is cheaply made. It's advertised as a midsize, but seems a bit small for that segment. Scion xB - cartoonishly boxy vehicle. Ford Explorer Sport Trac - What's the point? Why not just get an F150?
  • 1.) Any Hyundai or Kia - if you're a single guy and you go on a first date riding around in one of these, chances are you won't be going on a second one. Hyunda and Kias scream, "I'm poor." 2.) Toyota Corolla/Camry - nothing says "I'm boring" quite like a Corolla. Camrys are the most overrated vehicles around.…
  • I may be going against the grain, but I think Ford's turning the corner and the future is bright. Based on the number of Fusions I see in New England, that car is a hit. I've yet to read much negative about it. They pulled the plug on the dreadful Freestar and retired the Taurus. They delayed the Edge in order to get the…
  • Of course Honda is all over that list. Despite Toyota's "reputation". Hondas blow them away. Honda makes the most reliable cars and and they aren't a vanilla ride like most Toyotas. The most underrated Honda feature is the manual transmission. It is bulletproof. I've had two and various family members have all had the…
  • We just took our 2004 Ford Explorer XLS Sport 4x4 on a 1440 mile round trip vacation. The Explorer did a great job. We averaged about 75 mph on the highway and were able to get 19-20 mpg. We had a lot of luggage, and it all fit with room to spare and with no obstruction of the rear window. A very nice ride. While on our…
  • We just cracked the 10,000 mile mark on our 2004 Explorer XLS Sport 4x4. We've had it since September. Both my wife and I are HUGE fans of the Explorer. Roomy, nice ride, good power, easy to access dashboard buttons and controls. After driving Hondas and Toyotas, this was our first Ford, and we have been very impressed.
  • Teo, Sorry to hear about your problems. I own two Honda Accords, but being a car enthusiast, I check many different boards. I've read a lot of your posts on the boards, and you've long been an enthusiastic supporter of GM products. That's inexcusable and quite troubling that your car is having such problems at 13K. If they…
  • Go with the Grand Prix. You had crappy luck with the Impala, why go down that road again? Sure there are some nice features in the Impala, but the Grand Prix has been one of the best domestic sedans for a long time. Also, read the Grand Prix posts. You hardly read anything negative about them. It's a big car, too.
  • Oldsmobile being phased out is a shame. It could've been avoided. No advertisement at all, lack of selection, and a high price that is the same as an Accord V6, Camry V6 and Maxima. Oldsmobile makes handsome cars, but considering the stellar reputation of the three above mentioned cars, why would anyone want to buy an…
  • Honda says the same thing about the oil changes - every 7500 miles. My parents have two Accords, one with 208,000 miles and another with 175,000 miles. No problems with the cars. They change the oil according to the book -every 7500 miles. Changing your oil every 3000 miles is unnecessary. It's propaganda put out by the…
  • A buddy of mine just bought a used 98 Camry LE, 4 cylinder with 33,000 miles on it. Just curious as to the experiences people have had with this car? Any pitfalls to look out for?
  • Big snow storms up here in Massachusetts. My '99 Accord LX 5 speed handled the snow like a champ over the past few days. One of the best cars I've ever had at handling the snow.
  • arnols The gas pedal vibration is not normal. Go see the dealer and tell them to fix it.
  • I have a 2 year old Accord LX with 40,000 miles. No problems, whatsoever. I also have a 2001 LX with 4500 miles on it. Great cars. Reading the posts of many different kinds of sedans, it seems that Honda still makes the highest quality cars at a reasonable price.
  • I'm so mad about the 2.9% APR on the Accord 4 bangers. I bought a new Accord at the end of November, and my rate for a 4 year loan is 7.75%.
  • Ho Hum. The 4 door Honda Accord is the only 5 star rated vehicle in regard to rollover risk. Yet another reason to buy one.
  • My 2001 Accord is Naples Gold. My sister has a 2000 that's Silver. I like the Naples Gold much better. It's really sharp looking. The Accord is a great car in the snow. I live up in Massachusetts. Also, don't worry about rustproofing. The Honda paintjobs are all good. My parents have two 9 year old Accords and neither have…
  • Just bought a new gold 2001 5 speed Honda Accord LX a month ago. Love the car. I have 2100 miles on it. I replaced a 1989 Toyota Camry, which had gotten to the point of diminishing returns. This is my second Honda Accord LX. My other car is a black 1999 5 speed Honda Accord LX with 37,000 miles on it. Zero problems with…
  • On my 2001 Accord LX 4 cyl 5 speed, I cracked 97,000 miles yesterday. This morning as I was driving, I noticed for the first time that the Malfuction Indicator Lamp (the engine light) was lit up on my dashboard. I know that my gas cap is on properly and clicked three times after each fill up. Does anyone have any idea why…
  • 380K on a '91? That's a helluva lot of driving. Very impressive. How many domestic autos do you see with that kind of performance? Your case is a classic example as to why Hondas are the best cars on the road for overall satisfaction. The 5 speeds are great. You can't kill 'em.
  • Who says that you should turn in your Accord after 3 years? To me, that's silly. Honda Accords are designed to last over 200,000 and a good 8-10 years (if not more) if properly taken care of. VPs are fine. An Accord is an Accord. Sure all the bells and whistles are nice, but all Accords are extremely reliable, whether it…
  • Milindc, Wow, the new Civic is really sharp looking.
  • I was noticing this morning how nice a ride my Accord 5 speed LX is. I lightly tap the gas, and I'm doing 80. The handling is fantastic. No 4 cylinder has better pickup than the Accord. Honda makes the best manual tranny in the business. They're flawless. I've got 30K on it and have had it for almost a year and a half, but…
  • Funny story about your test drive. I like and agree with your recipe for building the perfect car.
  • Thanks for the feedback. I can't afford the GT or GTP, that's why I checked out the SE. Even with the 3.1, I found the engine to have a lot of pickup. The 3.8 must be like a jet. I have a buddy who has a GTP and he has the leather seats, which he says makes a big difference in the look of the interior. I also just thought…
  • I come from a family of very satisfied Honda Accord owners (I own one myself). My 89 Camry has reached the end of the line. I need to buy a new car and wanted to look at something different. After researching the car and the many positive posts that all of you have written, I went to test drive a new Grand Prix SE. I got…
