I am following my post from Feb. 2014 with this one from Nov. 7,2014-- I now have 75K on my 1996 LS400. I decided to change the Timing belt per rec. from the dealer, "The belt may have only 71K on it, but it is 18 years old! Lexus recommends 90K or 10 years--whichever comes first." Dealer cost: $1900 for belt, plugs, water pump, etc. My own mechanic: $1300 for all of the above. He also said the valves were fine and did no need to be adjusted. I went with my honest mechanic and the results seem fine.
Does anyone else have a comment on this?
