I have a 2006 Saturn Vue v-6 all wheel drive. I just bought it and did not pay much attention to the sound coming from the front end. I took it to the dealer and he said it was my steering column that was making the noise. He said it would cost me $1300 to fix but that he had the same problem on his Chevy truck and it has been that way for a long time. It is a loose knuckle or something like that. To me if it is in the steering column then it scares me. This guy said he has put thousands of miles on his truck with no problem. He said that the majority of GM cars in that time frame had the same problem. He said that GM has known about this for years and never even fixed the new replacement parts.!!!!! So even if i order a new one it could have the same problems. Is there any way to find out if GM has fixed the part. If i take it to a dealer they will just tell me that i need a new one. I doubt they will be as honest as the last GM tech i talked to.
