you should go to the Trailbalzer/Bravada/Envoy forum too. Many more post there (over 8000). Quite a few on the Envoy. Most people just post there instead of these other ones.
Be sure to cut/paste what you wrote here in the other forum too. You will get a better response.
Take care,
Mike
Someone wrote about the heater. I put the heater on for the first time this morning and when I put it on 90 degrees it blasted me with heat and when I tried to turn it down a few degrees it was lukewarm air. I don't know if there is a problem with the heater or if that is the way it works.
The Envoy has a lot of the features I'm looking for, but I'm also considering the Volvo and Volkswagen SUVs. The Envoy certainly has more space, and the ride was surprisingly quiet and it handles quite well.
the dealer sent a tech out with me and we recreated the problem and also in another 2003,
no correction was available.
anyone with the same problem.
other than that no other problems, except for the front tires cupping and needing to be rotated often.
my last was a 1995 Jimmy that I sold with 160,000 miles and still running good.
If I were you I would buy a foreign car. I regretfully am looking to get rid of this vehicle... Hope I helped you somewhat.
We rec'vd a letter in the mail from an attorney asking what problems we have been having with this vehicle.. So far we have had these problems:
*Air conditioning not woriking- blows hot air- took to dealer 3 times.
* Vehicle will sometimes stall for no reason.
* Car did not start back on 8/4/04- dealer had put in a new computer-
Anybody has any similar problems?

Does any one know of any aftermarket or GM parts to fix the annoying in-seat belt design? The built-into-seat safety belt is so annoying and uncomfortable. I have leather seats and they are great themselves but wearing the belt for more than 2 minutes creates discomfot. It connects at top of seat at too low a position and hurts the collar bone and shoulder. Any ideas? Pads do not really help the situation. I would like to raise the point of where the belt emerges from seat by a few inches, or if there is a part that connects to seat or something that can raise the belt away from shoulder...Any ideas would be appreciated.
But... despite these few problems, we love the Envoy. The XL is needed for our family. My wife is the primary driver, and she does a lot of hauling of 'stuff' as well as people (mostly kids). This replaced her Caravan and she calls the Envoy "her van". We bought a road trailer for hauling our snow blowers and lawn movers. My son has a summer job of mowing peoples lawns and in the winter blowing out his pappy's driveway. I've even used the Enovy-n-Trailer to haul rubish to the land fill. On one occasion, my father was driving his 3/4 ton truck and me the Envoy with the trailer. It had rained for 3 days previous. Father got stuck in the 1 foot deep mud. Our Envoy pulling a 5x8 trailer loaded down, went thru the mud so easy.
The ride is nice and easy. Handles well in the rain and snow. Is roomy. We once squeezed 7 adults and 1 child in it. MPG is between 16 to 18.
Up until this SES light issues everything has been covered under warranty (we are over 40k in miles) – we have been told that this problem will cost $900 to correct. Seeing that there are other problems that we have not had . YET . I would be interested in finding out more about this attorney and others that may be in my situation . :lemon:
Has anyone else had this problem? What do you have to do to get the GM delaership to acutally work for their money?

1) Lack of Instant Mileage readout on the DIC. scroll thru the mileage readouts, you get fuel remaining, fuel used and avg fuel economy, but no Instant MPG. i know the current Tahoes/Yukon's have this feature. Doesn't the Envoy Denali?
2) engine temperature. Engine temp runs about 210-220. seems a little warm to me, i was expecting 190-200. anyone else with this setup?
thanks in advance!! i called the dealer, and got the standard "oh, thats normal" answer. didn't instill much confidence.
Did you ever find a solution?
The rear passager door handles do not work, especially when the sun directly hits the door for a while (live in the south...sun/hot/all of the time). Anyone have this problem.
How did you get it fixed or did you? Safety issue as far as I'm concerned.
front lower arm brackets making noise, and transmission fluid coming out from transmission dip stick splashing under the hood and smoking!! this could cause a fire!!
I purchased it as is no warranty, i have a problem!
refrence: 02 GMC Envoy
sunroof-6disc-xm-leather, hot seats, just about everything. We do qualify for the General Motors purchase discount program. 24 month lease - 10,000 mi/yr. no $$ out of pocket other than the first pmt. and tax on the rebates. $ 287.14/mo. Go for it. (central Indiana)
It's a shame that I hear about such problems. I was all set to buy one, and now that I'm doing some more research- it's scary.
Leaky dipsticks are acceptable. Engine's exploding after just a few years are not.
Still thinking.
Thanks.
Dennis
The dealer said i can bring it in and it will be free of charge under the extended warrantee.
Thanks for any help offered!!

We've driven our Envoy nearly 50,000 miles now without even a hint of a problem. It still feels as new as the day we brought it home. I'm surprised at the negative comments I read here, as two of our relatives also have Envoys and they have never had a seconds trouble with theirs either. One is a 2002 with 100,000 miles on it at this point. I know a lot of cars get unfairly blamed for crappy service departments. I suspect that is the case with a lot of the complaints. Our previous SUV was a Ford Explorer, and although it was a very good and dependable vehicle, comparing it to the Envoy would be like comparing a Hyundai to a Lincoln. If it weren't such a gas hog (19mpg) we'd buy another Envoy in a heartbeat. As it, we'll most likely opt for something that gets better mileage.
