US Fidelis Ads Featuring Rusty Wallace - How Do You Feel?

Do you resent him for doing the ads, or feel sorry because he's contractually obligated? Other thoughts about this company, given the not-so-positive recent press?

I believe this was discussed in the "extended warranty" forum. I know I gave you my opinion.

You're right, you did - but I think this might be of interest to people who don't hang out there. This discussion is linked in a few areas to get other opinions! You are more than welcome to re-state yours.

Is Edmunds promoting us fidelis or what?? ;) Before it goes Bankrupt like warranty gold..

Depends. If ole Rustry knows US Fidelus sucks, and he still promotes their product, then yeah, I would resent that. At least Krusty the Clown came clean in the end... CANYONARROWWWW!!! :P

There is an investigation and a lawsuit being filed by the St Louis,MO attorney general`s office against US Fidelis for fraud and cheating customers. It is a full scale investigation on.Sheeesh!! And we are still debating whether Rusty Wallace lends any credibility.
Well Rusty got his money for the ad.That`s all that matters to him.C`mon,Get realistic folks. All these fraudulent companies deserve to be sued for ripping customers off. :lemon:

Hm... I wasn't thinking so much that Wallace would lend credibility - that ship has SAILED.

I was more thinking about whether his endorsement of a patently bad product is going to hurt his image - or whether he KNOWS it's a bad product, wants to get out of it, but can't? I don't think I'd want my reputation tied to a company that (it appears) is likely to go down in flames.

Excellent point, and I have to wonder why he and Steve Wallace signed on with them. A little due diligence on his part using Bing/Google would pop up way more than the usual number of complaints.

Money is tight and motorsports sponsors have cut way back. I think Wallace just did it for the money and sold his reputation down the river.

It's not going to help the NASCAR brand either as the AGs get their criminal complaints going.

Then again NASCAR hasn't cared about drivers selling dubious male enhancement pills either. (Just what is it with car mags and their enhancement ads all over the back pages anyway - are most motorheads really that insecure or what?).

"whether he knows it's a bad product, wants to get out of it, but can't"

He probably cannot get out of it...as the ads are STILL being played on TV. I see them quite often. You would think that any "well known celebrity" would have his P.R. person look into the background of such products before backing the porduct. In this case, "$$$$" is the first priority for them.
As for the VIAGRA ads done by (I believe) Mark Martin (they also sponsererd his team)...that product (from what a lot of my older friends tell me) actually does work!!!!

Yeah, but that's not Pfizer advertising in the back of Road & Track and the other car mags. It's the fake pill companies.

Actually R&T isn't near as bad as most of them. Only counted 4 such as in the September '09 issue. Some of the wax and brake ads do make you wonder what they are selling though.

I get all of the magazines (auto related) and I have to agree with you about those type of ads....but...I don't remember seeing any NASCAR drivers or other sports type figures advertising for them?????
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Ah, you're right. There was just the Mark Martin Ford that's sponsored by the legit Pfizer pill.

the guy who buys mechanical insurance for his beloved car/truck is the same guy who refuses to buy life insurance for his beloved. What's the hang up here?

I am not sure, perhaps she does not have any future earnings to protect against the loss of?

"for his beloved" = a policy on his life and earnings

"on his beloved" = a policy on her life and earnings
