Paid $20.5K for Vibe GT: Black, leather interior, "moon & tunes" package, 17" wheels, spoilers & roof rack. In Brooklyn, NY. Sound right?
If you subtact the $1500.00 from the "invoice price, then I assume you received a good deal (but just remember this model is now one year old as far as trade-in would be considered; however, if you are intending to keep the Vibe for many years, then that part would not be a major factor.
Let us know. Did that 20.5K include tax, tags and title??? Was it AWD or FWD.???There is almost 3000.00 difference in that alone. We need all the facts.
06 FWD Vibe---500.00 rebate + Concourse 1,000.00
Auto trans.
Power package
Dealer window tint---230.00
I'm paying 17,725.00---Is that a good deal?
Thanks
If it was before TT&L...then here is what I can tell you:
MSRP $18,690.00 Invoice $17,418.00
Tint 230.00 230.00
Total $18,920.00 $17,648.00
rebate -500.00 - 500.00
Conquest - 1,000.00 - 1,000.00
Final before TT/L $17,420.00 $16,148.00
This does not include the fact that the taxes are always on the MSRP, in this case$18,690.00. so I really can't give you an out the door figure unless I saw your actual "sales invoice".
Another thing, when I questioned CarMan about the Conquest incentive..my understanding is the Conquest incentive was only for the 2005 model Vibe, not the 2006 models???) (you mentioned a "Concourse" $1000.00....I don't know what this is.????
I really don't know if you received a good deal or not...you might have paid
$300.00 over MSRP or you might have paid a lot less if it is with TT&L:

Your trade-in...I don't have any idea what it was worth, plus you owed $3,846.53 on it that they evidently had to pay off!.
Motionman: the bottom line is this; As long as you are happy with the deal...THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!!!!
From now on, your best bet is to pose the question, "Did I get a Good Deal" BEFORE and I repeat BEFORE you buy the vehicle...not afterwards.
Enjoy your Vibe and I wish you many happy and trouble free miles. ENJOY!!!
Thanks!!!
Like I said before...ENJOY IT! Keep us posted as to your experiences with the Vibe in the "Pontiac Vibe" topic here at Edmunds.
Go to Google.com and type in "Pontiac Vibe Clubs" and get some views from other clubs as well.
I will enjoy it...thanks! I just do not want to be a victim of a car stealership.
Thanks for all your help!!!

I don't really want the Moons & Toons Vibe the dealer has on his lot, but he said that offer was $100 over invoice and he would do the same ($100 over invoice) if I ordered a Vibe without the Moons & Toons.
So does that seem to be decent or should I keep shopping? I was hoping to get one for about $18,100-$18,300. Please suggest away.
Yes, you probably could xfer a title from a family member into your name...but there is cost involved and the motor vehicle red tape....and what about insurance once you get that title???....and usually, when getting a title from another person (in most states) requires you to pay a sales tax on the amount that the vehicle is worth according to your state's blue book. Is it really worth $500.00 to go to all that trouble. $100.00 over invoice is certainly a fair offer for a new 2006.
As I stated previously, check out the "Invoice price" here at Edmunds.Just make sure that the offer is"$100.00 "over invoice' and do your figures from there.
Now I need to rant about GM's new Red Tag Sales Event. The Vibe I was quoted a price on last week will now cost me about $500 more this week. :confuse: After calling dealers they all told me the $500 cash back GM rebate does no apply with the Red Tag Sales Event price, even though GM's website still states $500 cash back on the 2006 Vibes. Can anyone else contradict this?
Does GM want people to buy their product?

I am quoted $17,700 not including tax. What say you on this DEAL?
I'm interested!
On 12/27, I bought a 2006 Vibe with Power Package, Auto Trans, Sun and Sound and ABS for 20,379 (includes tax and doc fees), minus $500 Conquest Rebate (I owned a Nissan and was therefore eligible) and $2,000 GM Mastercard dollars (I have the older GM Card and can go above the $1,000 limit on the newer cards). I used that combined $2500 as part of the downpayment. So....my out of pocket expense was $17,879. I used GMAC for financing (2.9% for 4 years). The GM Card savings, Conquest rebate and good financing terms is what led me to the Vibe vs. the Toyota Matrix. A similarly equipped Matrix would have run me about $19,500 (and the financing terms were in the 6-7% range).
Got the GM dealer to include a few small items (pinstripe, door guards and rear mat) as part of the deal. He would not include the luggage rack crossbars (a small gripe of mine is why they are not included in the first place). I have not researched them as yet. Does anyone know what they cost and if the dealer is the only source for them?
Enjoy your new Vibe if you buy it....I pick mine up at 0930 today. Enjoy the Holidays!!! :shades:
I'm using $3000 off my old style GM card also. I figure if it isn't used soon, I will be considered an "unsecured creditor" when GM files bankruptcy.
I'm real close on pulling the trigger on this deal unless someone can give me a good reason not to do it.
Good luck with your new VIBE!
BTW, I do not think GM will be going bankrupt any time soon (although anything is possible), but they are in for some hard times for sure. Uncle Sam will not let them go South, is my guess, but their days as #1 are short lived; Toyota is about to take the crown from them.
Picked up the Vibe as I indicated and so far, so good. Found out that the cross sections for the "roof rack" are $149 each (there are two, so it is about $316 for both) and they are only associated with the 2004 Vibe in the database. "Should" fit the 2005/2006, but no assurances (and they are not returnable). This came from the parts dept. of the Pontiac Dealer. He recommended using Thule cross sections, which cost about the same, but are more sturdy. I think I will wait a bit before I buy anything.
Does anyone out there have any experience with extended warranties? The Vibe should be very reliable (according to Consumer Reports and other online sources), but I am intersted in potentially getting one anyway. I only drive about 6,000 miles a year (work is real close) and in the three year GM Warranty period, I will be well under the 36,00 miles allotted. I am interested in 6 or 7 years coverage and 60-75,000 miles. This seems to run about $900-$1100 based upon an hours surfing. I have done a little research and Warranty Direct (http://www.warrantydirect.com/) seems to be a good deal, but I have no referrals other than their website, Edmunds and a few others (and I do not believe everything I read). So I would appreciate any input as I know there are more than a few poor companies out there (and the GM warranty was around $1600 and they did not have a formal warranty contract for me to review at the time I bought...and it was "buy it now or never").
Anyway, enjoy whatever you decide to buy and be sure to let the Forum know. Happy 2006 (soon)!
I agreed to the $17,500 offer and they are driving it right to my home next week.
End of year is what did it including last year model. I do think I got a sweet deal. This years' model (2006) is easily $2000 more under the best of negotiations as far as I can tell. AND the models are identical in standard features.
By the way, I found through research, that the right arm rest is too low making it uncomfortable for some people. I found where a new higher one can be obtained for 1/3rd the price that Pontiac wants and it's a direct replacement I am told.
Good luck!
Where do you see the replacement armrest? Was it on a specific website? I do agree that the one provided is too low for practical use and would be interested in a reasonably priced higher on.
Let us know how things work out after you get your new Vibe. Enjoy the highway!!!
The sticker was 20,885 purchased for 15,685. Then I had $1000 off for GM Card and also additional off from another Credit Card. I am thinking if its not too late they should be able to do more for you on the pricing. The 06's are out there and plentiful now and I considered mine 1.5 years old when I purchased in in September. Look into it a little further and perhaps check out the 06's? Good luck! And bottom line is as long as you are happy with the deal then its a good one!

I have never used the discount before
that uses the same two screws that hold on the original lid for mounting.
It comes in charcoal grey.
This is listed as for a 2003 Toyota Matrix but it fits exactly and will
solve the problem of the low armrest. I have already ordered mine!
It can be found at Mechanicsville Toyota in Mechanicsville, VA. Can't post the phone number but it is in the 804 area code.
The part number is 58905-02210-B1.
Order it by phone, not on their website because you will pay more on the
web. I paid $76.74 including shipping.
This is by far cheaper than you will find anywhere else as it sells for an
average price of over $220.00 everywhere else I have been to.
p.s. Mine listed for $20,995.00 so I still am happy with the deal. Not worried that it is last years model as I will be keeping it for a long time. I believe I saved about $1000 over this years model in all with the features I got.
Auto Trans, because shifting got old on above after 145000 miles.
Preferred package , because no cruise got old after 145000 miles
Sun and Sound Package, because she wanted a convertible by the time she is 45 ... she is 44 so that’s her convertible.
Side air bags and antilock brakes IMO GM should include in base instead of lowering base sticker more. IMO
My wife took it on a trip this weekend and also said it is fine.
I actually only find the lighting system a bit confusing along with all the radio knobs but hey, if I keep it for 18 years like the last one I will have it figured out.
As for options, mine came with the "monotone appearance" package (body color cladding), the "power" package (windows, locks, and cruise) and that's it. It meets my needs. The base stereo is fine, and I don't like sun roofs, so I'm happy. The cruise is nice to have since I do quite a bit of highway driving.
The only options I wanted that I didn't get were safety-related. Good luck finding any 5-speed with anti-lock brakes. They just don't make them that way, so you'll have to special order if you want them. I was in a hurry and haven't had anti-lock on my last two vehicles, so it didn't matter to me. I agree wholeheartedly that anti-lock and side airbags should be standard on every vehicle and included in the base price. My 1996 Cavalier had standard anti-lock brakes. GM should have never stopped doing that on their vehicles. Shame on them.
That's my two cents worth. Hope the Vibe works out for you. I love mine and have been averaging well over 35 mpg on the highway with the 5-speed!
Loaded Vibe $21,600 they took my 04 envoy which i was upside down $10K and my old clunky 98 jeep that leaks like crazy and gave me $5K...then gave me employee pricing even though it has ended for the public...$2,000 Rebate and 3.9%....and still walked out at $1,000 under window...woulda been much lower if it were not for the envoy...but it dropped my payments by $266/month and cut my gas expenses in 1/2 compared to the envoy.....
Oh and I recieve free window tinting, free $100 auto detailing, 3 free oil changes.....
Love the hands free cell phone blue tooth adapter and on star...
Nice auto.....if your looking for a fair deal try this dealership i was treated terrific.....
Another factor to consider is that your resale value will likely remain at least a bit higher because you will have a 2005 that doesn't start racking up miles until 2006. That happened with my last car - a 2000 Ford Contour SE. I bought it with 70 miles on it February of 2001, so when I traded it in, the miles were "low" for what's expected of a 2000 model year car.
If you're OK with the GT engine and six-speed, I would say go for it! Hope you like to live in high-RPM land! :-)
I test drove both, and actually thought the GT felt more "sluggish" in "regular" driving than the base Vibe with a 5-speed. The automatic, of course, felt the most sluggish of all.
Just wanted to pass that along in case you hadn't heard that yet. I've heard that the GT engine is sweet for those who like to drag race and wind up their motor.
Looking forward to the pics!
EDIT: I didn't use any rebates or anything, not sure if I could have since it was an 05 that was listed as used although it had only 270 miles on it. It was a GM demo that was brought to auto shows I was told. Carfax tells me it was sold at auction to a dealer in ME and then a few months later again to the dealer I found it at in MA.
