Answered my own question - took about 3 more pumps of fluid before it started to run out the fill hole. By the way, this is a VERY easy service to perform and there is no way you should pay $149 (what my dealer charges) to have someone else do this.
I have the exhaust rattle every morning I first drive my 07 mdx and give it a little acceleration. Does not happen when coasting, just under the first acceleration and it never happens again until the next morning start up. Its very minor sounding and to be honest after the first couple drives I did not even notice it. On a similar note though my last three vehicles made the same noise in the same situations so I was not concerned about it at all
Hi, My 2007 MDX is having some sort of clicking noise coming from the front area every time I accelerate from stop. I hear the same noise when I stop. This only happens at low speeds. Does anyone have the same issue?. I called the dealer about the service bulleting for the rear bolts but he said it is something else. They have not been able to figure out what's wrong, they just say that they are in contact with Acura support.
I'd appreciate any information, this is really annoying.
You are not alone my friend...have the same problem. Since I only have 1,300 miles on it I'm waiting for the first oil change to bring it back to the dealer.
I have the same issue - It sounds like the spare tire underneath or something else is loose in the back of the car. The dealer has ordered the bolts but now they tell me they are on "National Back Order". Oh boy!!! Bigger problem than Acura originally thought. Any one else out there with the same clunking/knocking/banging, etc. noise in the rear of their 07 MDX? By the way mine is also outside of the VIN range for the TSB. :confuse:
Just a thought - if Post 1307 isn't the casue: Could it be as simple as the spare tire is not hoisted up tight enough to the bottom of the vehicle? It would be worth checking to see. I have not experiened any of this rear baning on my 2007 MDX.
I was so excited for the new, '07 MDX to come out but so far, the quality has been disappointing. I bought mine in Dec and has about 5k miles. 1 month ago, I was having problems with the driver door. I couldn't pull open the driver door even though it was unlocked. Several times, I was inside the car and I couldn't get out of the driver's door no matter what I did. The door would work 1 minute and the next, it wouldn't. The dealer replaced something called a lock accentuator(?) and had to had a loaner for several days while they waited for the part.
Yesterday, I noticed that the side of the dashboard, both on the driver and passenger sides are falling off. Also, the dashboard appear to be coming unglued (or whatever is holding the bottom of it). Some areas of the dashboard have started to rise. Also, the shiny plastic thing on the doors (around the windows) have also started to become unglued. Today, the passenger seat airbag is on. It always shows off when I don't have a passenger and there is nothing weighty on that seat.
I'm worried what else would start falling apart. I am so disappointed I am ready to trade it in but afraid I would lose so much money on it.
Has any else been having issues with their '07 MDX?
1336 Are you kidding? Read this message board. It sounds like every single new owner has some issues with theirs. I own a 2005 MDX, which I am quite happy about, and was seriously considering getting a new one until, luckily, I discovered this site. Yes, I was very impressed with the new 07 MDX at the showroom but once started reading the less than enthusiastic reviews I have made up my mind not to get one. Sounds like you have a solid case of lemon. I strongly recommend that you contact a lemon law attorney to consider your options or search online. http://www.lemonlaw.com or 1-800-LEMON-LAW are two good places to start (and no, I am not affiliated). Good luck! Gary
The TSB to replace the bolt didn't work so I brought it back. The dealership replaced the rear suspension and noise went away. Unfortunately they scratched my rims and didn't admit it. They scheduled me to have it repaired as a courtesy since the car is still new. They still won't admit there is a wind noise when driving past 40 mph. The seal or bad aeronydamics are horrible. I have to turn the radio loud to enjoy my ride. **Dealership doesn't like me...

Just keep in mind that people posting here are the ones having problems. It could very well be that the 07 MDX is full of problems in general, but I wouldn't base my decision on this message board alone.
Nope; the spare tire is not loose it is tight as a drum underneath the vehicle. It's the suspension or something else underneath the vehicle. By the way it seems the vehicle is not very well insulated to keep out road noises; our 05 MDX is a lot quieter than the 07. The 05 seems to be better put together too and has better materials and build quality. I've also noted (on the 07) loose panels (not snapped in properly), one of the wiper arms was set so low on the windshield it banged the bottom, a dash vent that kept poping out, it even came with three small dents on one of the rear exterior panels at no extra charge. Is Acura skimping or do they just not care anymore? Pretty SAD considering this is a high priced product. You would expect better quality. :confuse:

What exactly did the dealership replace to stop the suspension noise?
I considered quite a few vehicles before purchasing the MDX including Jeep GC SRT8, Audi Q7, Tahoe/Yukon,etc and finally went w/ another MDX because of my 1st ones success. I realize that some new owners have legitimate problems but overall the Acura line has a fraction of the complaints that other automakers have (for example the Jeep GC problems thread on edmunds forums is a mile long)
(for example the Jeep GC problems thread on edmunds forums is a mile long)
I own a Jeep GC and I wish I could say you were wrong. I owned two Acura Integra's before the Jeep and I can't remember having any problems other than maintenance stuff. The Jeep on the other hand, err, well, it's a comfortable car and it looks good. I can still hear the radio over the road noise if I turn the volume up really high. Oh, and the A/C still works sometimes, at least on the driver side. I have also been lucky with the break rotors because I have about 20k miles on the last ones I replaced and the car still doesn't shake too violently when I break. I think you get the idea. I don't consider these problems acceptable on a 5 year old car. But hopefully it does put reliability into perspective for the Acura MDX owners out there. There are of course lemons with every brand, but in general your odds of having so many problems with the MDX are much lower. So enjoy your rides! I will be trading in my Jeep very soon for a car that, umm, runs.
I had a Jeep GC Limited before my 06 MDX. I loved the look, the ride was smooth as silk and the seats were super comfy. The stereo was leap years ahead of the Bose in the Acura and the power seemed to be unlimited. Unfortunately, it was a complete POS and was always being repaired.
My company has a Chrysler discount, and I could have gotten a new Jeep for 1% below invoice. Pricing a new Limited, that was about $6,000 in savings. I still couldn't bring myself to buy another one.
Too bad they're such crap... I loved mine.(When it wasn't broken)
Well, I didn't mean to cause a Jeep bashing discussion but the bigger point here is that again, you have to look at the numbers when it comes to reliability. Honda/Acura is always way ahead of the pack (at least when compared to most US automakers.
I had the (apparant) common problem of a rear clunk. The dealership not only did the repair recommended by Acura, they also removed the rear shocks (I have a Sport), lubricated the mounting points and reassembled it. The clunk has gone away. My dealer seems to have a lot of experience with making this problem go away. Acura might be wise to speak to them.
Also, on a lighter note, I had a terrible rattle in the back of my MDX, I thought it was the cover to rear compartment. Nope, it was the license plate bracket put on by the dealer. Gone! That was a simple fix.

I didn't mean to bash the Jeep. I actually think they are very nice cars and unbelievable off road and in snow. I have driven past many other SUV's that were spun out on the side of the road in the snow, not to mention the couple of times I actually went off road. The point is more to put the quality of Honda/Acura into perspective. Even if you end up having a problem or two with the MDX, that is still miles and miles ahead of some other cars with lesser reliability records (like the Jeep).
Sorry to inform you that nope, they have not fix it and the dealer does not want to give it another try to fin de root cause of the problem, they're just telling me that Acura support has not find a fix for the issue. I'm thinking on sending a letter to Honda of America to express my frustation, I may also take my MDX to another dealer to see what they say.
This is my second MDX. Traded in my 02 for an 07. The only issue I have is a sporadic issue with the radio presets resetting on both the driver one and driver two settings. This is a pain and a waste of time since I have to reset the am and FM stations all over again. The battery is fine. It only resets while parked. The dealer has not seen this issue before and since it only happens about once a week, it will be hard to find the issue. Has anyone else had this?
I picked up my mdx last month and had the same problem. I took my vehicle to the dealer in Norhern VA (pohanka) and I was given two differnt stories. First, the advisor stated that it was a cheap ethanol from either costco or unkown brand. Unforturnately, this had happened with three differnt brands (exxon, shell, and sunaco). Then, he tried to tell me that it was the way how I placed my cell phone. I tried with on/off position and still happened randomly. It seems to me it is a form of powersurge (as if the lightening can turn on your TV and makes a loud popping sounds on your speakers). I think Acura is aware but does not want to admit that there is a problem. let me know if you finally find a solution to this annoying problem.
Have a 6 mos old '07 MDX and suddenly the AC didn't work. Took into dealer and they informed me that the condensor had been hit / had a hole in it and it needed to be replaced for ~$700 and that it isn't covered under warranty. I asked how this could occur and the service consultant said a rock could do it etc and it was akin to a rock hitting a windshield. I find it unfathomable that a part under the hood as important as the cooling system is susceptible to be damaged / ruined by a rock going thru the grille(?). My wife drives the car and said she noticed nothing that sounded odd etc during the trip when the AC stopped. Needless to say I am escalating thru sales / mgmt at the dealership. Any advice?
That is, unfortunately, something that does happen. It's akin to a rock breaking the windshield. Not under warranty. I happend to a friends two week old Camry.
Just bought a 07 MDX last week. The AC compressor sounds loud when it kicks in, radio is off and car at idle. Does it seem so to anyone else? Wanted to see if that was normal or if I should have it looked at.
Finally had the bolts replaced on the rear suspension on my 07 MDX. It appears that the sound of something knocking in the rear is normal as the new bolts and lubrication of the mounting points did nothing to alleviate the knocking noise. It is sad that a $40K vehicle makes these "normal" noises. The service department and Acura corporate say that the rear noises I'm hearing are normal for this vehicle.
Don't accept that. Mine did the same thing. They fixed it and it doesn't do it anymore. Did they do both sides? Did they do it correctly? Mine doesn't have the knock/thump anymore and yours shouldn't either. Now, I still have a rattle which I think is the cover the rear compartment, but that is another story. Bring and back or go to another dealer who knows what they are doing. My dealer also removed the rear shock and lubricated the mounting points, that may be something your dealer wants to try.
Check the license plate holder. Could be that simple as that was my problem on my last car.
Anyone having issues with the Michelin Lattitudes? I think they suck. I feel every dip, bump imperfection in the road and they're 'jittery' at high speed. I'm bringing the Sport in with 1K+ miles next week to address the tire thing. If it's not the balancing, and they can't find any imperfections with the tires themselves, I'm changing them out and I'll throw them back on 6 months before my lease is up.
I've been play around with switching out the base steering wheel for the wood one. I did a 4 hour trip with the base steering wheel; I don't like it. It's too small in diameter, the stiching is of inferior quality, and it's just where my hands grab the wheel. For longer rides, I was looking for a comfortable hand position but never really found it. Is the wood/leather wheel that much more superior to the base wheel?
A few nit picking issues while I'm at it...
-can't have am and fm station together on one band. must shuffle back and forth -radio doesn't show who's playing on radio -can't change audio specs while in AUX position -can't keep outside temp on the dash visible -back up camera is useless since i can't judge the distance to an object -a/c keeps regulating itself on-off, on-off a bit annoying if radio is off -rear view mirrors could be bigger -leather seats wrinkle a lot, more than I'm used to and there's a big 'knot' just under the the headrest on the front passenger's side. It hits my wife in the head and is uncomfortable but I'm hoping they can fix it. -Rear cargo cover accessory is cheap. Won't last 3 years, that's for sure
All little things, and I'm sure there are others (I've forgotten until I'm back in the car), but I can live with them. For a 46K+ vehicle you'd think they could have put in a sportier steering wheel in MDX Sport.
What are the 'nit pick' items on your MDX? Come on, VENT!
I have a similar post somewhere where I was mentioning the fit and finish problems with mine. As I said, I really love this car, but Acura better work on the quality control. I do think it is remarkable that with this high end of a vehicle the radio data isn't displayed. You can keep the outside temp on the dash, I do. It's a setting on the trip computer thing, but you will lose your odometer (who cares).
I never wanted an SUV, but I have in-laws to think about and a 5 seater was not an option at this time otherwise I would have opted for a 530Xi wagon. The MDX was really the best of the lot I looked at if you're looking for a solid 7 seater with lux appoinments, and I looked at everything before I went with the MDX. Volvo XC90 was horrendous as far as fit and finish was concerned, and was all over the road at higher speeds., The LR3 had way too much play in the steering and horrendous gas mileage, the Highlander Sport drove decently, but the Limited (which is set up nicely) was way too bouncy for me and certainly not in the same class as the offers mentioned here, but an option none the less. the Q7 was huge; a mini bus with nicer appointments The MDX actually had decent road feel. Not BMW X5 driving feel, but not that far off. I loved the X5 but too small a 3rd row option and just too expensive for what was being offered. I wanted to like the CX-9, but it wouldn't let me, and any of the Mercedes products just were not comfortable for me. The MDX provides a nice package, and you don't have to guess what it comes with due to the 4 options set ups.
I don't see quality control getting better anywhere. If you look at the other manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes, etc. It seems to get a little worse with every generation. A little sacrifice in materials here, there...
I am having the same issue with myy 2007 MDX. Almost every time I start the car, there is a loud popping sound from the speakers. It sounds as if the speakers popping from to much volume/power. This happens if the radio is on or off at the start. I have not called my dealer yet but plan to at my first oil change.
Any one else having the same issue, if your not sure, go start your car and listen for it.
I also have the clunking noise from the rear of the car and my car is outside of the VIN number range on the service bulliten. I will address this at the first oil change also.
Well, I guess two minor things. One, the right rear window squeekes when it is going up. Two, the front driver side door seems to stick sometimes when I pull on the handle. I feel better now....
I think the compressor is really loud, too. I find myself turning off the climate control so I can hear the rear passengers talk to me. I never had to do that on my old MDX.
Mine was outside of the VIN range and I still had the bolts replaced. It didn't make a difference. There are still noises emanating from the rear suspension and while I wouldn't identify them as clunking noises, they are more like something is coming loose and hitting the underneath of the vehicle when driving over bumps especially uneven bumpy roads. We've checked everything underneath the vehicle and there is nothing loose - it is all tight as a drum underneath. It is a VERY annoying noise though. I've been told there is nothing else can they do - They tell me it is working under normal specs and the noises are normal. How nice is that response to deal with?
I hope Acura can somehow find a fix and incorporate it into newer produced vehicles. Anyone having an '08 and reading this please chime in if you too are having any of these "clunking" and "popping" noises that seemingly can't be fixed by the dealers.
When you buy a new vehicle you expect it to be free of such noises, at least until you begin to rack up some miles! My Infiniti FX45 just past 70,000 miles, and only very recently I've experienced a slight rattle from the driver's side window - until now it had been perfectly quiet inside.
i also have the same problem. i hear a small rattling sound while i drive the car in low speed. it only happens in low speed only. i think it only happens when the car is cold. if anyone experience the same problem and know the fix please let me know. i am really dissapointed with acura. i have some problem with my cd radio too. it automatically ejects out after i lock the car and once i unlock the car the cd goes in automatically. i took my car to the delear atleast 3 times for the same cd problem. each time they told me whenever they check it was fine. anyway last time i did talk to the service manager and then they said they will order a new radio for my car. it has been almost 8 weeks ( 2 months) since they said they have ordered the radio. i called them couple of times and i was told it is comming soon. i think i need to call the acura customer care. have anyone contacted the customer care. r they helpful in any way. if anyone have any prior experience with the acura customer care let me know. honestly i have taken my acura to the delear more than my honda accord which has 70k. now i regret buying this suv

If you dealer didn't know about the SB, perhaps you should consider going to another dealer. They should be looking for those things and not waiting for Acura to send it to them.
I think Acura is in denial. My service department knew nothing of the technical service bulletin either - I had to read the number to them and then they pulled it up. Doesn't matter though it won't make a difference.
I regret the purchase of this 07 MDX. It really sounds as though the rear suspension is about to fall off the car.
Anyone with vibration problem? I got my Sport just before Labor Day. Drove funny, definitely not smooth even though I was driving on fairly smooth roads. The dealer ROAD FORCE BALANCED the tires and recentered my steering wheel which eliminated the drifting I was encountering, Vibration gone at speed, starting from 50 and getting very noticeable at 65-70. Smooth sailing even with the Mich. Lattitudes. I still feel road imperfections but what was an 8 on a scale of 1-10, is now a 2-. I still don't like the Michelins, but I'll ride these through the winter and change them out for summer tires, probably Continental Cross Contact LX's which are getting great reviews and are inexpensive.
I have a 4 month old MDX with tech/ent, around 4000 miles. I have many of the same little things that many people have written about: funny popping sound on starting, little rattle noises over bumps, and occasional hissing sound at high speeds. I have managed to get use to those things, but now I notice the paint warping near the front tire panels, where the panels meet. Looks like candy wrapper effect from bad sealing or paint application or something.
Has anyone ever seen this on their car? I have never noticed body finish defects like this even on much older and cheaper cars. This should be fixed under warrant, right?

Just keep in mind that people posting here are the ones having problems. It could very well be that the 07 MDX is full of problems in general, but I wouldn't base my decision on this message board alone.

I've had that done on another car after a regular balance did not get rid of the vibration I was having. It made a world of difference for me too.
Has anyone ever seen this on their car? I have never noticed body finish defects like this even on much older and cheaper cars. This should be fixed under warrant, right?
