I'm trying to confirm VPP pricing. Does anyone know what the "Marketing Assessment" comes out to? or is there a range depending upon the dealer or the region?
    Thanks.

while driving my current suv this past weekend (our first real snow) I began to think rather than getting a car (contemplating getting a 4D G35 RWD) that I may like staying in an suv. I love having the extra road visability, extra room for unexpected surprises, and what ever else may come along. yet when I was looking at the armadas prices, I began to think, wow paying this much for a nissan, yet I could go get an X type for less, I'm wondering if anyones been able to negotiate any good deals... I'm only looking for a base model, and if possible "I was hoping to get it with leather" wondering if anyone has had any luck with getting some deals... I know it just came out so I figure if i wait a little bit I may be able to have some luck... any thoughts?

you can get an SE 4X4 that stickers for around $37k. if you get one with the leather package, it takes it over $40k. you can add aftermarket leather for alot less.
  • cjs2002cjs2002 Member Posts: 341
thats the whole thing though... for 37K I can go and get into a Jag X type, FX35, or even the all wheel drive G35... I was hopping it may be possible to try and get into the armanda for like the 33s or less, but I have a bad fealing that won't happen... oh well
  • bowke28bowke28 Member Posts: 2,185
    will buy you a 2WD.

yes, an armada costs as much as an S-type. thats the market for full-size SUVs, and thats what they are worth. if pretty plastic and fun gizmos is more important to you than utility and convenience, then go get your jag.

but as you pick out the s-type, remember this well, grasshopper...(its really a ford).

It appears to me that GM and other domestic manufacturers are trying to increase the sales volume in the in-between SUV market by offering less hefty-priced mid- and compact-size SUV. See how those domestic mid-size SUVs became more affordable. Trailblazer EXT with cloth can be bought for less than $30,000. (See carmax.com) What a bargain it is, compared to a few years back.

It seems to me that the Japanese manufacturers are carefully pricing their SUVs slightly above the market prices of the domestics, so that the domestics can continue to outsell the Japanese SUV's in volume and the Japanese manufactures may make profits from less volume but from reasonable margin.

In the long-term, someday, the price competition may surge into the full-size SUVs. Then we would be able to get them much less than luxury sedans.

About to purchase an Armada. Just wanted to check with those that had the load noise, resonance while driving. Are these on the SE, SE OR, or LE. I'm curious because while investigating all the differences between the SE and SE OR, I found a forum where the Continental Contitrak SUV tires had many, many complaints about the noise issue. This was on other vehicles, not the Nissan.
  • rshershe Member Posts: 236
After placing several e-mails, and 2 phone calls, I have still not even received a response. All I have asked Nissan, is to confirm if the vehicle was ever even ordered, based on the order number I was provided. Based on this response, I can't imagine what it would be like to resolve a major issue with a vehicle.

I told my wife if we don't have resolution by the weekend, I am going to Toyota and buying a Sequoia. I have dealt with Toyota in the past and find their customer service impeccable. I do love the Armada, but fear a company that won't even contact you back when you call/email their customer service line. Based primarily on customer service and dealer quality, Nissan will never truly compete with Toyota.

What's an acceptable price for this fee? Not sure they even need it, but Bowke28 might be able to help out here.

you said: "It seems to me that the Japanese manufacturers are carefully pricing their SUVs slightly above the market prices of the domestics..."

what numbers are you looking at?!?!

the armada, with comparable equipment, costs, on average, about $2500 less than the expedition. if you are comparing the armada to the trailblazer, then you are not comparing apples to apples. look up a tahoe with comparable equipment, and you will see a $2-$3k difference in MSRP.

A US Prices LE Armada with everything but the NAV Option is only $40300 US, but this converts to $ 52000 Canadian, yet NISSAN CANADA wants $ 60,000 Canadian!!!!!
I was hoping to buy one, but with that rip off...forget it.

FYI, here is a link to a weathetech cargo liner used
with the 3rd row seat down, so the liner is from the 2nd row seat back.

We haven't experienced any noise while driving, except when the windows are down there seems to be more wind noise than I've experienced in other vehicles.

For the overhead console, we suspected that it was torqued too tight on the assembly line and the jar of the first rear-ending caused the force to crack it.

Took the Armada in today to the insurance adjustor. They're planning to put it up on a frame machine and measure/pull it. Not too happy with that decision, but the insurance company is sure not going to total a $40K brand new vehicle. You can be sure that we are going to inspect it VERY carefully. We have lots of pictures of the damage and have made a list of what is wrong. They said that the doors should fall back into place once the frame is stretched (right now they're about 1" lower than they are supposed to be when in the open position - they have to ride up to close). They expect it to be in the shop for about a week.

I got really irritated when I asked them about the decreased value caused from the damage and resulting stretch. They told me there is no such thing. It could have been bent on the assembly line and I would have never known it so they say it's possible that the value would have been decreased anyway. I think that answer is bs. He said that the only way to tell is that if a future buyer were to do a carfax report. He said they should be satisfied if the estimate was done correctly and the repair work was done correctly too - after all he said, 9 out of 10 cars on the road have probably been damaged and you would never know. Again, he's an insurance adjustor not working for us, but keeping the best interest of his company in mind. Thankfully, Nissan will be doing the work and we have a good relationship with the general manager and several of the salesmen and finance managers there.

We have about 6 Armadas on the lot here, however, most of them do have the tan/gray interior. I don't know what they were thinking either (neither did the Nissan guys).

The deals are out there. I put in requests on Monday night through Edmunds and a few others for price quotes on the SE OR w/Tow or SE W/ Leather and tow. Tuesday, I received 3 different dealers offering between 1000 - 1050 above invoice. I let them know I had another offer and ended up with 2 dealers offering 475 above invoice on SE OR or SE,, both which had exactly what I wanted and nothing else.
Stopped by a store on the way to the dealer with the SE OR and received a phone call from the other dealer with the SE since I had called earlier and let him know I was leaning toward the SE OR. His boss got on the phone and I explained we were trying to stay below 38K. Short story, he offered me a LE in Deep Water Blue with Upgrade package and other minor trinkets such as mats, filter, splash guard, and tray cover for a price of 37900 including destination charge. No bench seat, but the wife and I were debating on that since it would be easier with the 4 boys if we had the Captains in the second row.
So called the other dealer and let him know I regrettfully had to decline his offer, but was just offered a LE for 450 UNDER invoice. He didn't like it (and I felt bad for him), but he totally understood.
Turned around, went to the other dealer, test drove (no resonance) was there for 30 minutes, and walked away with a new LE 4x4. Only extras were my taxes, 199 processing fee, dealer business license fee of 65, and title fee of 50. Couldn't be happier with the internet buying experience.
  • bowke28bowke28 Member Posts: 2,185
that WAS b.s. if a car is wrecked, no matter how thoroughly the repairs are done, it loses value. heck...it loses value in the minds of the owners, let alone the buyers!
  • nitemasknitemask Member Posts: 33
I didn't lie one bit. I didn't receive the offers simultaneously. These were the 3 dealers that had what I was looking for.

I received the offers and then let them know what my other offers were for. One replied that was the best he could do, the other one came back at 475 (SE OR).The last salesman called and he asked me what he could do and I explained I just received an offer for 475 above invoice, he then said he'd match it. The decision then came to be between the SE and SE OR.

Not tacky at all. We decided to go for the SE OR and called the salesman with the SE to let him know. To me that is polite. I'm sure you've had many customers never give you a courtesy call to let you know what their decision was.

lol... grashopper.... funny... yeah unfortunatly with all my research I had discoverd that yes jag is owned by ford, yet at least its engin and transmition are still jaguar... oh well hmm... don't know... I think I'll miss having an SUV if I do get a car... but then again... I will enjoy having better gas milage...

You mean something like "we can't keep them on our lots, there is such a demand for the Armada we are charging over MSRP ". No offense, but the thought of screwing over my dealer right now sounds like a lot of fun. Please don't expect anyone to feel sorry for a dealer getting lied to, most dealers would steal the pennies of a dead mans eyes, given the chance.
  • nitemasknitemask Member Posts: 33
To clear the air. I DID NOT LIE. All I did was keep the 3 dealers informed of the exact offer of the other dealers. They decided to try to outbid each other.
Bowke28, if you wanted to buy a house, and 3 sellers had the same model and they offered you different prices, and the sellers tried to outdo each other, you'd let them go until they stoped when they couldn't do anymore, and then you'd take the best offer. Case closed.

Come the day when we can buy Armadas at or below invoice, that would be my dream day...
  • armadaon20sarmadaon20s Member Posts: 1
Auto9999, I completely Agree with you. At invoice, I'd have one in my driveway. Right Now I'm getting a Smoke LE 4x2 with Tech and DVD Entertainment for $1000 over invoice, If i could get it at invoice or even $500 over, I'd jump at it! I need a Smoke with Charcoal or Sahara with Tan interior Le 4x2 with Tech, DVD really doesnt matter, at invoice or $500 over in the Oklahoma, North Texas (Dallas) area. If anybody has any good dealerships, please let me know.

BTW, has anybody put 20's on the Armada, I want some 20's sooooo bad.

About the Ford Jag, by that reckoning, the Armada is a Renault.

For those curious about the other thread, the "you're a liar" post has been removed. Let's keep it civil and avoid casting aspersions on each other please.

Just got a call from my dealer..Seems someone in Nissan Customer Service gave them a call. They say Nissan pulled the order from them in Mid November (due to shortage of the Tech Package), and never let them know about it. This sounds like BS one way or the other... Either they did pull the order and the dealer never let me know or the dealer screwed up and never ordered it. They claim they are mailing me the order sheet for me to look at, but I'll believe it when I see it.

BTW It was the sales manager who called me from the dealership--no apology, no we'll keep looking for you, just a "not my fault".

Just what I am referring to at the dealer level, Nissan really needs to change the image at the dealer level or they are always going to be second class to Toyota.. It' more perception that actual quality. You can make the best vehicle in the world, but if people don't want to deal with "Herb Tarlic" they'll go elsewhere.
  • shulajshulaj Member Posts: 11
So at $43,000 US without the tech package, it is STILL price $5,000 Canadian More than the USA Pricing. RIP OFF!!
  • onederdogonederdog Member Posts: 18
That day, (below invoice) is already here. It just depends on where you look. Our SE-OR was about 175 under invoice. SE-OR, towing, leather (with Bose),rear guards, mats, cargo tray, microfilter-36990. The week after we bought ours, the same dealer ran another ad for an Armada stock # ????? for 34???K .
BTW my first tank of fuel went by at 14.54 mpg. just in case you want to know. All in- town driving. It sure is nice to have the power to pass and not get stuck behind some trucker. I have yet to put peddle to the floor, even passing it's just not necessary. I can't wait to try towing my trailer. I am also impressed with how well it has been performing on the icy and snowy roads. I do wonder about how well the little thing are going to hold up. I already (500 miles) have to take it in for some minor fixes.
Lastly, has anyone purchased a grill guard, I see them listed on sites as an option, but with know additional information.

If you want to stay around 33k and get an suv look at the Nissan Murano. Fully loaded with leather nav etc would be around 37k and invoice is around 33-34k you should be able to swing one for invoice +/- a few k. Although it is very mundane a pilot with leather and navi is only 33k sticker and can be bought for right around 30k. Also Lincoln Aviators in my neck of the woods cand be had for about 33-35k. What SUV do you drive currently?
  • rshershe Member Posts: 236
Decided to give up on Nissan.. Just called my Toyota dealer, whom I've used before. He's offering me $300 over invoice on a Loaded Limited through the Costco program..$42k and change..
  • rshershe Member Posts: 236
The dealer faxed me the order sheet and they did order it as they said. It was Nissan that screwed them and me.
  • thylantyrthylantyr Member Posts: 28
Throwing in the towel ? I can understand this
for tax reasons because you need a new ride
    fast, but.....

What is your criteria for selecting the vehicle
    of choice ?

Is it customer service or the vehicle itself?

For me, I could care less about the dealership
and expecting them to be loyal to me as a
customer. They may pretend to be your friend
but they are not. Business is business.

Example, $300 over invoice is common for many
vehicles. I doubt if there are any favors
being throw your way. The next guy with wits
who walks in gets the same deal as you. /hehe

Those SEQ's seem overpriced. Their engine is
adequate, I can't imagine towing with it.
Originally, the old lady and I were 90% convinced
that the SEQ was the vehicle of choice, but upon
examination, it was dissapointing. Lack of
    power and weak leg room.

These SEQ's should be priced lower than Armada
if you ask me. The Nissan powertrain is significantly better.

If one dealership is giving you a bad time,
then go to another. That's all I do. Whoever
seems cool gets my business. I went to three Nissan dealers and only one is enthusiastic about
    selling me an Armada.

I just can't stand the Armada exterior design,
    everthing else works for me.
  • auto9999auto9999 Member Posts: 86
Sequoia is a nice SUV. My wife drives it and we love it. You can consider an Armada any time in the future when you need another full-size SUV.
  • bowke28bowke28 Member Posts: 2,185
lets consider this logically...if nissan has an order specifically for a single buyer, why would they pull the order? the only way they will pull an order is if it is an inventory order...therefore, your dealer did not order it specifically for you.
  • rshershe Member Posts: 236
It apparently not the dealer that screwed me, but Nissan.

Here is my logic..The Armada is a 1st year vehicle--lets be real there are and will be problems with any 1st year vehicle.. If the Armada customer service is so piss poor with a simple issue such as this, imagine what it is going to be like when you have to go to Nissan for some major arbitration. I am going to give it to the weekend to see if I get any response from Nissan then I am done with them for life..

Not going to be towing anything that my 4 Runner couldn't currently handle.
  • rshershe Member Posts: 236
The dealer faxed me a copy of a "dealer ordering special action request" that shows the order going in on 11/7/03 specifically for me. Could they have faked this??
  • bowke28bowke28 Member Posts: 2,185
yes they could. would they? thats up to you.
  • nitemasknitemask Member Posts: 33
Not sure what you're looking for, but email me at my profile. Just bought mine under invoice in the DC area. Can't give names, but I can let you know the dealership.

Was wondering if anyone out there who has purchased an Armada with the Tow Package can answer a few questions for me regarding the transmission and engine.

So far the answers I have gotten from the dealership have been typical brochure-type answers. Mainly about how it has a 9100 lb tow capacity, a 5 speed automatic transmission, and a transmission temperature gauge.

    1) Does the Tow Package come with a transmission cooler mounted to the front of the radiator?

    2) Is the transmission serviceable (i.e. can you add tranny fluid to it through the dip stick or is it a sealed transmission)?

    3) Does the Tow Package come with an oil cooler like on Fords and Chevys?

I've got a 21 1/2 foot Sleak Craft jet boat to tow and it has a dry weight of almost 5200 lbs. Any clarification you might be able to give would surely be appreciated. Maximum towing capacity isn't an issue, but heat build-up going down the road with the boat is a concern, especially on long trips.

    Thanks.

Purchased mine last night for 435 under invoice in the DC area. Received a call today from a dealer that hadn't returned my call yesterday and said they got another 4 in today and wanted to know what he could do to get me into one. I told him I had purchased a LE for 435 under invoice last night and his reply "Oh man, too bad, we could have done better than that for you."
Under invoice days are here in some areas.

currently I'm driving a 02 Explorer (edie edittion) but this was a transitional car, familys in the process of getting everyone new cars, I sold mine, and have this one, which is actually my moms new car, and then I'll go get mine... when ever that is.. as for lincoln aviators... don't know havn't looked at it yet, though my dads company manufacturs some of the suspention pieces for both the navigator and the aviator, so I wonder if we could get a deal that way, thanks for the mention...looked at the muronos... don't know about em yet

I've been checking out this forum to see what
tow vehicles people are using to haul around
their 6000+ pound trailers. Most people are

    using diesel engines. /hehe

1/3. tranny cooler is standard on all armadas/titans, as well as oil cooler. the package only adds the guages.

Another day out and Nissan customer support hasn't gotten back to me. Called them again today and he say's the allocation specialist still hasn't gotten back to him. 3 friggen days and she hasn't returned his call. He act's like this is par for the course. What type of POS company is this? Asked for his supervisor and he wouldn't transfer me to them.. Say's he will have her call me back within 3 days . This company is a joke. With customer service like this, it's going to take more than the French to save them next time.

I am sorry to hear that Nissan still cannot solve the problems and it must be a lot of stress. I thought you gave up on an Armada and signed on a Sequoia purchase, but it appears to me that you and Nissan are still trying to resolve the trouble and complete the Armada sales. If I were you, I would choose a vehicle my heart really wants to have. Is it an Armada, or something else? Only you can tell. From my experience, people will regret for not having a vehicle they really wanted. Nissan apparently may have made a mistake on your order, but I feel that Nissan is trying hard to produce attractive vehicles to customers.
  • shark715shark715 Member Posts: 382
I was looking at a new Armada today at the local Nissan dealer, and when equipped with the Trailer Tow Package they come with a transmission temperature gauge. The only markings on the gauge are "L" and "H". Since I tow a heavy boat, I'm very curious what the owners manual says about this gauge. Based on his answers to several other questions, it was clear that the salesperson was a liar and/or had no clue what he was talking about, and when I asked about the gauge he told me not to worry about it...he said I would get a warning light if the transmission became too hot. I asked the salesperson to show me an owner's manual, but he claimed the dealer ran out of them. I'd appreciate it if someone with an owner's manual could tell me exactly what it says about the gauge, at what point there should be concern about the transmission temperature, and what to do if the gauge reaches that point. Also, does the owner's manual say anything about what gear to use when towing? Many people recommend avoiding overdrive when towing to keep the tranmsission at a lower temperature. Thanks for your help.
