Thanks.
yes, an armada costs as much as an S-type. thats the market for full-size SUVs, and thats what they are worth. if pretty plastic and fun gizmos is more important to you than utility and convenience, then go get your jag.
but as you pick out the s-type, remember this well, grasshopper...(its really a ford).
It seems to me that the Japanese manufacturers are carefully pricing their SUVs slightly above the market prices of the domestics, so that the domestics can continue to outsell the Japanese SUV's in volume and the Japanese manufactures may make profits from less volume but from reasonable margin.
In the long-term, someday, the price competition may surge into the full-size SUVs. Then we would be able to get them much less than luxury sedans.
I told my wife if we don't have resolution by the weekend, I am going to Toyota and buying a Sequoia. I have dealt with Toyota in the past and find their customer service impeccable. I do love the Armada, but fear a company that won't even contact you back when you call/email their customer service line. Based primarily on customer service and dealer quality, Nissan will never truly compete with Toyota.
what numbers are you looking at?!?!
the armada, with comparable equipment, costs, on average, about $2500 less than the expedition. if you are comparing the armada to the trailblazer, then you are not comparing apples to apples. look up a tahoe with comparable equipment, and you will see a $2-$3k difference in MSRP.
I was hoping to buy one, but with that rip off...forget it.

For the overhead console, we suspected that it was torqued too tight on the assembly line and the jar of the first rear-ending caused the force to crack it.
Took the Armada in today to the insurance adjustor. They're planning to put it up on a frame machine and measure/pull it. Not too happy with that decision, but the insurance company is sure not going to total a $40K brand new vehicle. You can be sure that we are going to inspect it VERY carefully. We have lots of pictures of the damage and have made a list of what is wrong. They said that the doors should fall back into place once the frame is stretched (right now they're about 1" lower than they are supposed to be when in the open position - they have to ride up to close). They expect it to be in the shop for about a week.
I got really irritated when I asked them about the decreased value caused from the damage and resulting stretch. They told me there is no such thing. It could have been bent on the assembly line and I would have never known it so they say it's possible that the value would have been decreased anyway. I think that answer is bs. He said that the only way to tell is that if a future buyer were to do a carfax report. He said they should be satisfied if the estimate was done correctly and the repair work was done correctly too - after all he said, 9 out of 10 cars on the road have probably been damaged and you would never know. Again, he's an insurance adjustor not working for us, but keeping the best interest of his company in mind. Thankfully, Nissan will be doing the work and we have a good relationship with the general manager and several of the salesmen and finance managers there.
We have about 6 Armadas on the lot here, however, most of them do have the tan/gray interior. I don't know what they were thinking either (neither did the Nissan guys).
Stopped by a store on the way to the dealer with the SE OR and received a phone call from the other dealer with the SE since I had called earlier and let him know I was leaning toward the SE OR. His boss got on the phone and I explained we were trying to stay below 38K. Short story, he offered me a LE in Deep Water Blue with Upgrade package and other minor trinkets such as mats, filter, splash guard, and tray cover for a price of 37900 including destination charge. No bench seat, but the wife and I were debating on that since it would be easier with the 4 boys if we had the Captains in the second row.
So called the other dealer and let him know I regrettfully had to decline his offer, but was just offered a LE for 450 UNDER invoice. He didn't like it (and I felt bad for him), but he totally understood.
Turned around, went to the other dealer, test drove (no resonance) was there for 30 minutes, and walked away with a new LE 4x4. Only extras were my taxes, 199 processing fee, dealer business license fee of 65, and title fee of 50. Couldn't be happier with the internet buying experience.
I received the offers and then let them know what my other offers were for. One replied that was the best he could do, the other one came back at 475 (SE OR).The last salesman called and he asked me what he could do and I explained I just received an offer for 475 above invoice, he then said he'd match it. The decision then came to be between the SE and SE OR.
Not tacky at all. We decided to go for the SE OR and called the salesman with the SE to let him know. To me that is polite. I'm sure you've had many customers never give you a courtesy call to let you know what their decision was.
Bowke28, if you wanted to buy a house, and 3 sellers had the same model and they offered you different prices, and the sellers tried to outdo each other, you'd let them go until they stoped when they couldn't do anymore, and then you'd take the best offer. Case closed.
BTW, has anybody put 20's on the Armada, I want some 20's sooooo bad.
For those curious about the other thread, the "you're a liar" post has been removed. Let's keep it civil and avoid casting aspersions on each other please.
Steve, Host
BTW It was the sales manager who called me from the dealership--no apology, no we'll keep looking for you, just a "not my fault".
Just what I am referring to at the dealer level, Nissan really needs to change the image at the dealer level or they are always going to be second class to Toyota.. It' more perception that actual quality. You can make the best vehicle in the world, but if people don't want to deal with "Herb Tarlic" they'll go elsewhere.
BTW my first tank of fuel went by at 14.54 mpg. just in case you want to know. All in- town driving. It sure is nice to have the power to pass and not get stuck behind some trucker. I have yet to put peddle to the floor, even passing it's just not necessary. I can't wait to try towing my trailer. I am also impressed with how well it has been performing on the icy and snowy roads. I do wonder about how well the little thing are going to hold up. I already (500 miles) have to take it in for some minor fixes.
Lastly, has anyone purchased a grill guard, I see them listed on sites as an option, but with know additional information.
for tax reasons because you need a new ride
fast, but.....
What is your criteria for selecting the vehicle
of choice ?
Is it customer service or the vehicle itself?
For me, I could care less about the dealership
and expecting them to be loyal to me as a
customer. They may pretend to be your friend
but they are not. Business is business.
Example, $300 over invoice is common for many
vehicles. I doubt if there are any favors
being throw your way. The next guy with wits
who walks in gets the same deal as you. /hehe
Those SEQ's seem overpriced. Their engine is
adequate, I can't imagine towing with it.
Originally, the old lady and I were 90% convinced
that the SEQ was the vehicle of choice, but upon
examination, it was dissapointing. Lack of
power and weak leg room.
These SEQ's should be priced lower than Armada
if you ask me. The Nissan powertrain is significantly better.
If one dealership is giving you a bad time,
then go to another. That's all I do. Whoever
seems cool gets my business. I went to three Nissan dealers and only one is enthusiastic about
selling me an Armada.
I just can't stand the Armada exterior design,
everthing else works for me.
Here is my logic..The Armada is a 1st year vehicle--lets be real there are and will be problems with any 1st year vehicle.. If the Armada customer service is so piss poor with a simple issue such as this, imagine what it is going to be like when you have to go to Nissan for some major arbitration. I am going to give it to the weekend to see if I get any response from Nissan then I am done with them for life..
Not going to be towing anything that my 4 Runner couldn't currently handle.
So far the answers I have gotten from the dealership have been typical brochure-type answers. Mainly about how it has a 9100 lb tow capacity, a 5 speed automatic transmission, and a transmission temperature gauge.
1) Does the Tow Package come with a transmission cooler mounted to the front of the radiator?
2) Is the transmission serviceable (i.e. can you add tranny fluid to it through the dip stick or is it a sealed transmission)?
3) Does the Tow Package come with an oil cooler like on Fords and Chevys?
I've got a 21 1/2 foot Sleak Craft jet boat to tow and it has a dry weight of almost 5200 lbs. Any clarification you might be able to give would surely be appreciated. Maximum towing capacity isn't an issue, but heat build-up going down the road with the boat is a concern, especially on long trips.
Thanks.
Under invoice days are here in some areas.
tow vehicles people are using to haul around
their 6000+ pound trailers. Most people are
using 3/4 to 1 ton trucks/suv, the serious folks
using diesel engines. /hehe

Nissan Titan/Armada is a 1/2 ton vehicle.
2. no, the tranny is not serviceable.

Also, congrats to Nitemask, sounds like a real sweet deal for an LE.
