    If you order both, the sport seats do in fact come with 4-way adjustable lumbar support, as well as adjustable side bolsters (nice touch).

    Drove a new Lexus GS and the only thing I liked about it was the great lumbar support.

    Hi Barry, I found a dealer that did some take off's. The owner put 19's on his New E90. You could try ebay,but i just checked and theres not much there. Or there are a few other BMW boards that allow for sale threads(edmunds does not).

    Surprisingly i found several sets of the 162 18" wheels for sale. So those opted for the 330i Sport package and then even increased the rubber! In the end i wanted 4 identical wheels I could rotate. Plus the 255/35/18 Run flats are currently $311.00 each OUCH!

    Hmmm, you found some 162 18" wheels? Cool. I'm inclined to want four of the same wheels all of the way around and if I could find two more front (18 x 8.0) 162s, that would be prefect. As I'm inclined to lease (since my business pays for the lease), I would probably drive the OEM rubber until the rears are either unacceptably noisy and/or worn down to 5mm (1mm above minimum for the return of a lease car), then hang on to the rear 162s (18 x 8.5) until lease return. That would of course leave me with the two front 162s that I could then pedal to yet another E90 owner (assuming that I don't get yet another E90 with 162s on it).

    I have 1000 miles on my 325i. The last time I had calculated it was about 19.7 mpg. My driving is mostly in the town. Sometimes highway, but mostly town. Basically I can go about 280-290 miles until the warning indicator comes up.
    So far I did not find anything that I do not like about the car. I simply love in, No. I am in love with her:) The only ting – breaks a bit grabby. But I guess it depends on your breaking habits.

    No. Those brakes ARE grabby. The only real blemish on this very fine car.

    On the other hand it (grabby breaks) saved me from the accident recently. On a highway stopped the car almost instantly. My only worry was at that time about cars behind me :)
    And when you stop the car on a high speed by applying breaks quickly they do not feel grabby – just almost instant stop.

    I saw a white E90 yesterday and thought it looked pretty sharp. The only other two E90s I've seen on the road so far have been black.

    I have been searching for some reliable information on the technical operation of the Manually Selected Gear shift (not sure about the exact title, but any reader of this forum will know what I mean). I have driven exemplars and understand the operation from the driver's seat, but I would like to know how this technology functions internally. To that end, does any reader know of a technical manual, technical bulletin, or thorough magazine article that addresses the technicalities of the system? . A German text wold be fine.

    I also found that several shops/aftermarket guys are scooping up E90 Sports to develop mods and hence only 3-4 weeks after introduction I found several sets already. I assume by the time you take your ED next Spring there will be several set floating around. Unless you delay your trip til fall to see the FIFA World cup in Germany. ;) What a dream for me that would be.

    OK, I finally got some photo's after all my changes who wants to help me post them ? Just a couple im beaded like plano did.

    Well you know the old Henry Ford saying "You can have in any color you want, as long as it's black".. Working for Ford now as an F&I Manager (and therefore up to date on company history, lol) , the reason all cars were painted black back then is because the color black dries the quickest..and I am sure it is still the same today -- and most people think black is the richest color, when really it was only used for money saving measures orginally.. that being said before my BMW days I always bought every car in black, because to me they looked the most like a wanna be BMW..and then finally when they day came to get the real thing, I came this close to getting Electric Red, and at the last second had go for jet black once again, now that I had finally had the BMW it didn't seem like the right thing to do, backing down from black. Persoanally I like black because it looks the sportiest to me, guess it reminds me of the coolest motorcycles that are always (it seems to me) in black.. Had they had the nystic blue available though, and not only available on the M3 that would've been my new color choice hands down..

    Your affinity to black makes perfect sense to me. When clean and shined it's the classiest, richest look, IMHO. I've had two black cars before switching to BMW--a Passat and a Volvo S60. The only reason I've strayed from black is my move to the pacific northwest means it's hard to keep it nice very long for most seasons of the year (rain and road spray). The pleasure from having a freshly waxed black finish--shiny and glowing--good stuff for an enthusiast. :shades:

    Had a chance to spend some time on a highway. I remember someone asked about mpg consumption? Don’t remember who it was. So, I had 3 hours of pure highway driving. Reset my mpg indicator and according to OBC my consumption was 29.2 mpg. My average speed was 80 mph. Yes, I was speeding :). When I entered city (a was traveling from Albany to Brooklyn, NYstate) obviously consumption got much higher. In general my average consumption in my home town is about 19.8 mpg if calculated by hand or 20.7 according to OBC.

    One more interesting thing to note. About colors. In my town I did not see s far any 2003 3 series on the road, except myself:). As soon as I entered Brooklyn I saw fair amount of new bmw models, not only 3. And to my surprise most of them are Monaco Blue.

    Thanks Novice for the kind words. Had a black GTI and Mustang GT back in the day, and having taken road trip in each of those cars to Vegas and driving on the strip and seeing all the neon reflected mirror perfect on the hood of the car is what addicted me..I have been trying to get away from black ever since but it still has it's hold on me. The only thing that "helped" me was buying a certified Mustang convertiable in Oxford White with tan top and interior..that I didn't have to choose (the orginal owner took that burden from me).. but get me into a new car showroom, and tell me I can pick the color, always, always it is black..I can't say no.. lol.

    What color is your BMW now Novice? When I hear that you are in the Northwest, I automaticlly think green..but I am guessing dark grey silver (the gentleman's black)? :)

    Odessit, nice ride, and I really like the Texas flag on the back. I am not one who usually like bumper stickers, decals of any sort on a car (ok well maybe an harley davidson sticker is ok) but your Texas flag is way cool with the placement you chose, and just the right amount of understated personalization. :)

    For those who have access, today's Boston Globe Automotive section had a lukewarm review of the new 3-series. The reviewer (Royal Ford) offered underwhelming enthusiasm and showed the level of excitement you might expect were he reviewing a new Yugo. While his tone wasn't negative, it wasn't particularly positive, either.

    I just got done spending the whole weekend washing/cleaning/polishing/waxing my wife's Black Prelude. Man, it looks sweet now! It practically glows and that's on a car with 140k on the clock.
    Black does look awesome with a lot of TLC but I'm pretty happy her Bimmer is Silver!
    That's just way too much work on more than one car. ;)

    I have been looking at various inventories of 325's in the MD and VA area and it seems that you have to get NAV to get xenons. Any reason why? Is BMW sending cars here believing since its a new model you have to get it all or none? Does this have to be ordered? Any experiences from dealerships in you area will be helpful. Really want xenons but don't want NAV.

    2006 325i 70percent city 30 percent highway
    picked up car june 7th... I am on the first tank of gas almost empty and i have
    275 miles on the car.... Why is the mpg so low... isnt the tank capacity 15.9
    Is this bad gas mileage due to that the car is new and is in break in its brake in phase?

    Also how fast of a speed should you not exceed in the first 1000 miles?

    any other helpful suggestions?

    Guys, I need help.

    Last weekend I took my wife and kids to see the new 3. We didn't drive it. We just looked at it. The car would be for my wife to drive to/from work during the week, and for my wife and I to share on weekends. As I work in NYC and commute by train, I do not need to have my own car. Anyway, the point is that my wife and I need to agree on a car, which hasn't been too difficult before now.

    We all liked the sporty-looking exterior. We happened to see a 2006 model side by side with a 2005 model. My wife and daughters didn't see much of a difference between the two designs, but I preferred the gently rounded shape of the new 3.

    While I found the intererior to be pleasant, my wife and teenage daughters were disappointed and unimpressed. The car we saw had beige leather with popular natural wood trim, a very popular combination to which I was predisposed. Among their gripes are: (1) the tri-colored dash -- black on top, brown wood in the middle, beige below; (2) the use of black seatbelts against the beige leather; (3) the leather isn't soft; and (4) the wood trim looks plasticized.

    Being confident that the drive will make a favorable impression even if the interior does not, I have persuaded my wife to join me for a test drive later this week. I am hoping that she will like it enough to get past her issues with the interior. If not, I suppose that most of her issues with the interior could be solved by selecting black leather with aluminum trim. Then again, I've never had black leather before. I'd be concerned about the seats getting too hot in the summer months. Any other ideas?

    The manual says don't exceed 100mph during early break-in period.

    Hm well assuming you have a gallon or so left your around 19mpg. The city rating. And yes til break in will be a little less. I got about 23 1st couple of tanks and close to 25 the last 3. in about a 70/30 combined cycle. However that does not tell the whole store,My City driving as it were does not involve much traffic and i make most the light on the way to work . On your break in its probably more critical to not exceed 4500 rpm's regardless of speed. And NO cruise control , vary your speed.

    If I do a 5 series, it'd be a 545/550i ED. I can get one outfitted as i like for about 50k (60k msrp). Nice car but too big for my tastes.

    I have gray leather and I will always continue with that or maybe get that brownish/orange leather you can special order. Those two colors hold up well and don't get hot.

    Thanks. So far I've only seen the car with the beige leather wood trim combo, which comes with a black dash, black steering wheel and black seatbelts. I thought it was nice, but my wife didn't like it. I look forward to seeing other combos, such as the ones you mentioned. I suppose that my wife would think that the black accents would look better against a gray background. With 4 colors of leather that can be mated with 3 types of trim, I am hopeful that we will find one or more combos that we both like.

    True, but I've always been the type that if I put anything down on a car or anything else, I want it right away. I really don't want to order and wait 2 months later to get it.

    Why is it 2 or more months ? My car arrived exactally one month after order. Not only that but i think it got held up a few days at the port for the launch... Plus being on the East coast your transit time wil be less.
