    1 question :
How many miles should I expect to get on my 300c contiseal tires
if all requirements are met .( tire pressure and rotation ).
Presently tires have 23 k miiles and are down to 2/32 .
  • wnicholswnichols Member Posts: 42
You should replace the tires now. 2/32 is minimum legal tread depth. You may want to look at a different size tire to get an improved selection.

    3) I took delivery on my new black 2006 300C last Friday (May 20 2006). All 2006 300C's come with the tire pressure monitoring system. It shows in the "info center" on the console. It has an icon of a car and it shows actual pressure in each tire. Read your manual to find out to access this neat feature, if you already haven't done so.

Re: Q#2 Hold the shift stick to the right for two plus seconds and it goes back to Drive.
Re: Q#1 I can tell you what I did. I varied the speed. Drove it mostly on the Hwy 1st 500 miles varying the speed from 40 - 65, bumping it to 70-75 a few times. After that, I drove it "normally". Had oil, filter etc changed by dealer at 2500 miles. 5500 miles on it now. Runs smooth and is very responsive. I now average about 22mpg for city/hwy. (40/60hwy) (I thought I read or was told the breaking in pretty much takes place in the 1st 200 miles.) Haven't had any problems.
Mine is a 2005 Satin Jade Pearl
Re: Q#3 I wish I had the tire pressure monitoring. Instead I bought a good tire gauge.
My friend says the car is a chariot.

I am getting brown spots on the chrome that won't come off. Probably from road salt which is used very little here and car was driven only once during snowy weather. No peeling, but it is actually very temperate here in this part of Idaho, so not much salt to encounter. Has anyone been able to get a replacement or a way to get brown spots off? My car only has 8000 miles on it so far.

I am from Rochester NY and all 4 of my rims were pitted. I went to several dealers to get them replaced and was told that Chrysler was aware of the problem but was not replacing them. The Dealer is standing any cost that maybe involved. I went back to my dealer and was told "Chyrsler knows of the problem but not giving any replacements. Just to side track a bit the pitting is caused because the protective coating is peeling off the rim. The coating does not extend the cladding. Look at the inside of the wheels and you'll see how bad it radlly is.
I finally went to the owner and pointed oout that my wife has been a customer for 7 yrs and that should count for sometning. The owner said he would look into my problem. I have "NEW RIMS" now, but was told these would not be replaced if the problem happens again. The Dealer stood behind me and not Chrysler.

Other 300C owners have had the same problem, and some haven't. I'll take mine off in NOV. and put 4 snows on.

Bill- What you may want to try on the brown spots is automotive detailing clay. You can pick some up at an auto parts store. Make sure you read the instructions.

Clay should remove the spots for you.

I also had the problem with the pitted rims on the 17" chrome clad wheels. While I was at my local dealer for the scheduled oil change I mentioned it to the service advisor (wasn't sure what to expect after reading posts on this topic). I received a call from the service advisor within 1 hour stating they would replace all 4 rims. I was very pleased with the response from my dealer. Hopefully the new rims have this defect corrected, but time will tell.

    Hi everyone,

My wife and I have done extensive research and are ready to order a 2006 300C AWD. We both test drove a 300C and were very impressed. Anyway, for those of you with Cool Vanilla paint, which interior color scheme did you choose?

I think the Dark/Light Slate Gray Interior would show relatively little dirt but it might not be the best choice for that exterior color. The lighter interiors may look better but get dirtier more quickly.

    Thanks!

I hope everyone is loving their 300s. I've been waiting a long time for a practical 'American' car to speak to me like the 300.

My father has a Magnum RT AWD in Cool Vanilla with the tan leather. It is perfect with Cool Vanilla. I don;t think the gray looks right with that exterior color. You do have to keep it clean, but it's not terrible.

Had one of these pass me on the highway. It seemed to sit up a little higher than the 2-wheel drive cars.

I just picked up my Black 300C a week ago and I think it is absolutely fantastic. I have plans for a lot of aftermarket goodies on it. I want to throw some 22" wheels on it, dark tint all around, air intake and exhaust. Speaking of the exhaust, I was looking at the 300Cforums.com this morning and saw that someone was having a group buy on the Borla exhaust. I wasn't going to do the exhaust yet, but I was emailed the cost and think I have to do it. The wheels can wait a while. Meanwhile, i love cruising in this beauty. Everything I have heard and seen is true. This car is greeeeeat!!

So I finally ordered a 2006 300C AWD last night with the light graystone interior with the light carpet as well. I look forward to the car's arrival. Ended up ordering it for $2,550 off the www.chrysler.com build price...plus another $500 off if I finance through Chrysler, so I'm happy with the deal.

I have an 8-digit vehicle order number in "BA" status. Does anyone know how to check on the progression of the order without hassling the dealer?

Does anyone with a 2006 300 Chrysler have the pull to the right problem or any of the other issues we have seen on the forums here? Please post if you do. Thanks.

I'm an old car freak, I have had show cars and hot rods for 40 years with cars featured in many hot rod magazines, so I know cars. This 300c is as good as it gets. The compromises it make are just right for my kind of driving which is pretty aggressive but with the need for creature comforts. One negative is the massive amount of plastic on the dash board. Has anyone out there installed a wooden dash kit and if you have are you happy with the look and the fit? Also how much is the Borla exhaust? The back side of the car is quite plain so I extended the duals and made them rectangular the put 1/2 circle chrome strips around them to make them stand out plus a a small chrome strip on the bottom of the trunk so you don't have to touch the paint when closing the trunk

Have 7500 miles on our Deep Lava Red 300C purchased 8/5/04. We went with dark interior and also used black rubber overlays during winter. I was worried about light interior as I am sure it would show dirt. The really dark rugs work great, but it is hard to get light colored lint off of them as they tend to hold on to it. Would not be a problem for most, but I am a clean freak. Like your choice of color....we almost went for it. Incidentally, the black rubber mats from Chrysler fit very well and work fine.

Yes, the 300C is a great car. The main reason I wanted one was because of the performance and handling. I also think the looks are spectacular and trick grilles/22" wheels/low profile tires, etc. make it look even better. But, you could seriously jeopardize performance in all area such as cornering, acceleration and stopping by going from 18''s to 22"'s. Motor Trend did an article on tests they did at Michelin's proving ground and it was absolutely scary what a difference it made to upsize too much. The bottom line was, if you must, go up one size, but never more than 2 sizes and even that will compromise performance. These days the factory actually does try to optimize suspension to tire and wheel size. You might try Motor Trend achives....it was a really informative article.

My 300c has 15,000 kms and the continental tires are crap. They are cupping. The dealer says that they are made to soft, thats why they are cupping from turning corners. It also sounds like a suspension problem for cornering. I drive normal and no fast cornering .He also said that continental are the only tire made for that size rim for the 300c,I don't know if thats true or not.The tire rep says that to replace the tires they would only go 50 % on them.Seems to me that they know there is a problem they should do better than 50%. I sure would love to go get a different brand of tire if available.Does anybody have any suggestions?

hi in response to your choice of interior colors the wife and i recently purchased a cool vanilla 300 limited with the interior colors of tan seats with jade and light slate accents on the dash and interior.........really sets the interior off nicely........real rich look without the overbearing dark look............just a hint of touching with the jade..............the jade makes the photosensitive coloring in the window tint really react great when the suns out and makes the windows turn a nice shade of green tint for better blocking resistance. one thing the manuel says to not put armor all on the dash and such well i put a light coat on just for protection purposes and it really reduces the dirt factor as well as keeping the dash from drying out from the sun beating on it.also consider a light carpet like the slate white carpet it really looks clean.........but i placed clear rubber mats over the car floor mats for protection from dirt. dosent look bad at all and really helps the dirt factor protection immensly. make sure you get the mats with deeep channel grooves for water holding as well with side guards to keep it on the mats as well :shades: :shades:

We have had our 2006 300C for two weeks now (~800 miles) and have not experienced any problem of any kind. Have installed the Bentley grille and the two lower grille inserts, B pillar chrome trim, and splash guards. What a great automobile.

I just took possession of my 2006 300C in steel silver metallic. There are several companies now making tires for the 300C...just go to Tirerack.com and look at their options. I like the Pirellis, myself. Remember, if you choose too hard of a tire, the ride is terrible and you generate much more road noise.

I keep getting mixed info on what wheels can be fitted on their 300C AWD. Some say its
RWD offset ie: 0-10, some say FWD offset,,20-40, some say mid,15-20 and finally chrysler
says don't change the wheels with 20s cause you will screw up the brakes and suspension.
Can I put 20s on the car and if so what fitment. Help!

We have 18,000 miles on our 300c and we are on set#2.In fact our car is at the dealer and told them to keep in until the find out the problem with the tire wear.Chrysler does have a problem in the front end BUT they won't say that to your face.Iwas told that Perrilli has a set of tires for our car but I can't find them any where. If Chrysler does have the front end problem any tire will wear down.
  • lavender1lavender1 Member Posts: 33
My dealer called to let me know what they found out on the tire wear problem. We have out car aligned 6 times and no luck on it keeping the settings. My dealer just found out that you have to have the steering cradle plus two other parts replaced. The old part number for this cradle has beed replaced by another number. When they called Chrysler to find out why they said some cradles were made wrong and won't hold an alignment.Sure hope this helps you folks.

My wife and I have had our 2006 300C AWD ordered for 5 months now. The car still sits in BG status and is not being built. Our dealership claims that the Chrysler Rep. was in on 6/10 to discuss this issue and others. They say that production on all AWD vehicles has been temporarily halted due to unspecified 'problems' with the AWD. We could settle for a car off the lot, but we would rather wait and get exactly what we ordered, but it has already been 5 months. Our dealership claims that Chrysler says it may have the problem fixed and production may start up again by July 1 on AWD models. Has anyone heard about these 'problems' or is this another line of crap from our dealership? If there is a problem we should probably wait until it is fixed before obtaining this vehicle. Has anyone heard of a recall on the AWD's?
  • shiposhipo Member Posts: 9,148
A recall? No, I haven't heard of one. However, I have heard a few intermittent reports of some front differential problems on the AWD cars. I wonder if that is/was why production was halted. Just mere speculation at this point so you certainly have my permission to disregard everything that I've written. ;-)

I am planning on changing my exhaust system on my 2006 300C to a catback system. I also want to change to a high flow air cleaner. Does anyone know if this will void my original warranty and my extended warranty?

The Chrysler 300 took second place in a recent Car and Driver comparison test featuring the Buick Lacrosse, Ford Five Hundred, Kia Amanti, Nissan Maxima, and Toyota Avalon. They tested a 300 Touring, not a C otherwise it might have beat the first place winner.

  • kevm14kevm14 Member Posts: 423
Maybe, maybe not. That Avalon is surprisingly fast with that new V6 they have. I know the ET was unimpressive, but the trap speed was pretty good: 99mph. That's 300C territory. It was also just over $30k as tested. A 300C would have been 3-5 grand more.
  • timcartimcar Member Posts: 363
Read the review, and sent them an e-mail. Said I was very surprised that they found the 300 had "lots of road noise." I test drove an '05 300C, and the drive included plenty of degraded pavement. The first thing that struck me was how quiet the car was compared to my Audi A6. Anyone else think that their 300 has lots of road noise? Anyone experience any variability in noise levels among 300 models?
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
I don't know if this means anything, but here goes.

C&D tested a 300 Touring, and you drove a 300C. Could that have something to do with the amount of road noise because of the different engines?
  • luetdanluetdan Member Posts: 5
We ordered ours on Jan.3rd. Still haven't been able to get a straight answer from the dealer here in Newberg, Oregon. Just this evening I went to the Chrysler website and did an inquiry about what's to big hold up. When I ordered the vehicle I was told 12-16 weeks. Now I believe that nobody knows. I keep telling the dealer that it's "Just a Chrysler". I'm seriously looking at other alternatives. BMW's and CADILLACS are a strong consideration now. I'll wait until the Chrysler webbies contact me until I make that final call. ANYBODY ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEMS?
  • timcartimcar Member Posts: 363
yes, that's my point. My questions is, has anyone driven a 300C and another 300 Touring, or Limited, and noticed any difference in road noise levels?
  • lavender1lavender1 Member Posts: 33
We tested both the touring and the 300C before buying the 300C.The C has more sound deading material than rest of the cars.I did find the tires on the touring were louder. The 300c has a softer tire. Also wind noise around the mirrors but name a car that dosen't.
  • timcartimcar Member Posts: 363
Thanks, that was my suspicion. You might want to drop a note to Car & Driver and share your experience. Anyone who read their comparison would most likely come away believing any 300 is a noisy car, when the opposite is true of the 300C. (As if Chrysler needs more help selling 300's.)
  • stagpolestagpole Member Posts: 6
Keep us informed on what you find out on the 300C AWD. We ordered ours on Jan. 18.

My 05 300C has had to be jumped now 5 times. The first time's were when I was waiting for the wife who was shopping and I had the radio on. Both time about 35 or 40 mins. Took it in for service, couldn't find anything wrong. I bought a jumper pack and have only listened to the radio in the "off" mode and the timing set for 15 mins.. I needed to jump it twice since then and Chrysler service says there is nothing wrong with batt., starter or charging system. Have any of you had a problem like this or am I just "lucky".
  • shiposhipo Member Posts: 9,148
Oddly enough, our 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan has the exact same problem, if that's what it is (a problem I mean). I'm wondering if the electrical system is too fully activated when the ignition switch is in "Acc" mode. Whatever the case, our very similarly set up 1998 Grand Caravan can go hours with the radio on as can my 530i. Go figure.

Performance Parts Street the dealer can order Part # P4510832 Cold Air Intake System for Hemi and Part # P4510855 Cat-Back Exhaust.

If dealer installed these upgrades should not void warrenty

Took my wife to a drive in movie last night. We probably had the newest and most expensive car of the 200 or so cars at the show. The movie is over and every car in the joint started and left but us. Dead battery again. This drive in does not have speakers, you have to tune in your F M radio for the sound. I was worried about having the radio on for so long as I have been having battery problems [Chrysler service says there is nothing wrong with the charging system] So to avoid any problems I only played the radio in the "OFF" position on the key. I set the timer for 30 mins. When it disconnected after 30 mins. I started the engine, let it fast idle at 1000rpm for about 2 mins. then went into the same routine. The next time [after another 30 mins. the car wouldn't start. I played the radio for the rest of the show and then got a jump. How embarrassing, to have a new car that I paid $44,000 for and the only one that needed a jump. I think in order to get Chrysler's attention I should probably stop getting jumped and just keep calling them for assistance, maybe that will get their attention. Any other suggestions???? Thanx, Hotrod8

I wonder if Chrysler switch is always on like some other cars?I now Ford had a problem like this a few years ago.Or is there a time out for the switch that won't start the car for a while?Just throwing out an Idea or two.I know if we can't start our car in a few try's it will start after a few minutes. This happend to us when we were going out dor dinner one nite.It would not start so we toke our other car and when we came back I tried to start the car and it strarted on the first try.

I was considering purchasing a 300c. I rented one in Vancouver for 4 days. The engine made a ticking noise, which was not a big deal. However, sitting at several stop lights, the engine shook/vibrated as I waited for the light to change. It seemed as though the engine was going to stall, but didn't. Is this normal for the entire car to shake/vibrate when idling. This may be enough to turn me off. Any response would be appreciated.
  • celonabarcelonabar Member Posts: 5
My 300c shakes a bit at lights , but i got used to it . It never dies out. It would take alot to turnme off of this car. I've had it for almost a year and i love it . It reminds me of the 57 chevy when it came out. It looks like it's moving ,even when it's parked. i plan tokeep it for a long time and it could be a collectors item ,because of it's innovative features and all the awards it's recieved . The 05 will be the one to keep. ">link title
  • lavender1lavender1 Member Posts: 33
The ticking you are hearing is the injectors and the rough idle is no big deal.It should not shake the whole car just feeling the rough idle from the front.I finally get my car back after 2 weeks at the dealer. The tires were wearing out real fast and 6 alignments would not stay set. They found out that the steering bracket had to be replaced. So we will see what happens now.

I THOUGHT AWHILE AND REALIZED WHEN YOU HAVE 340 HORSES UNDER YOUR HOOD AND THEIR TRYING TO GET GOING DOWN THE ROAD , YOUR BOUND TO GET ALITTLE VIBRATIONS------IT'S A GOOD THING. SIT BACK AND BRACE YOURSELF , ENJOY THE FEELING.

I agree with the headrest issue. I've been trying to adjust the seat and headrest, but still end up with a strained neck. I'm 6'1" with good posture. Anyone have any ideas. Is there an aftermarket solution to the headrest?
