Throw it in the paper for $30,950 and let some genius come over and slap ya with $29 and some change.
Good Luck...
Terry.
As for the Dodge, that's what I figured, not too shabby considering we only paid $24K for it 3 months ago and have since put nearly 5K miles on it. He might be trading it for a diesel next year, I told him he has to wait for a little while at least, I mean geez, he just bought the monster.
Terry.
Sounds like it be about a $6,000 or so car...
Bill
If it IS a Quattro, it'll do.. Hmm.. Mid $18Ks..
Bill
Q
Bill: Great job on those four dozen cars... that's what we pay you guys for... errr... wait...
Anyway:
1997 Nissan XE Pickup regular cab.
Red, 5spd (of course!), 4cyl. 59k miles (p/train warranty to 60k, whoop-de-doo!)
AC, cassette, sliding window, not much else.
Bedliner, black aluminum topper.
Original Owner, books and records, all maintenance... mostly by me, though.
Brand-new snows on steel; good all seasons on original alloys.
Clean, no paint/body work. Bench seat is a little worn from the kiddie seat.
This one's the Missus' truck, and she has decreed that it should go, on account of it isn't safe for the little one. Probably a good call...
So what's it worth across the block and what should I throw it in the paper for? I may wait for spring, though...
Thanks in advance!

It sounds like a pretty nice vehicle, all and all. The miles are good and these pick-ups have a big following.
Pick-ups like these (clean, low miles, all there) are doing around the $5ish figure up at the Detroit Metro auctions.
I would drop this puppy in at $6,900 and let someone give you brain damage at $6,1/$6,3/$6,500 ... and let her role .. then go buy a new Q45 ..l.o.l.
Good luck...
Terry.
Your doing it right ... wait til you can see it when it's all clean and detailed. And you can put an "eyeball" on the one flat spot on the paint ---- then you can talk some real figures... :-)
Terry
Q
I read the board all the time but this is the first time I've needed your help. Thank you.
So I hafta figure $13 would be a fair price..
Good luck...
Terry.
if you could clue me in what to expect in trade for in New mexico for:
2000 dodge stratus ES, dark green, 28,000 miles,
V6, leather, autostick, auto transmission, AM/FM/CD/Cassette, PW, PL, PM, a/c.
good car, i just didn't get what I want! So i'm going to try to fix that with the current environment. Thanks in advance for your assistance. I owe $12,500 with a $1300 warranty to 100,000 miles (refundable).
These are nice vehicles on the "used" side of the market. But, I think you may not be too happy on what you owe ... The super clean ES's, 20k, with the slider, Infinity, chromes, leather etc. are doing "around" that ultra high $8's figure. And on the retail side, for a quick sale ... $10,950 and get $10,500 all day.
I wish I had better news ...
Terry.
Not denying Terry's estimate, just seems wacky here (though nice color and miles).
I have been to the Chicago auctions a bunch of times and based on last weeks auction reports -- this little puppy will do all of $11 at the chutes..3 just went through with 79k at $9,500 and the wagons are doing "out of the book" at $12,500 ... ouch!
Terry.
Looks like I'll be holding off on the truck of my dreams they're "giving away" this week.
Thanks for taking the time. Your right, they drive nice...that's the saving grace, it's a nice car.
The tires are almost new (7,000 mi) and I have a 6 yr. 75,000 premium warranty. The car is in beautiful condition.
The dealer only offered me $11,500 in trade and I had to beg for that. He agrees it is a beautiful car, but says he can do no better. He says that in the "real world" there is no such thing as excellent condition unless the car has 0 miles. He also says that the extended warranty has no value to him. Does this seem reasonable? Or, is this the type of car that it would be in my best interest to try to sell it myself and then go look at new cars?
Thank you in advance for any advise.
Cindy
He has put Aaaaaallll the money into that puppy dog ..and then some. It must be real, real nice.
The only way to get more Cake for it .. is to retail it. It's a 97 .. it's Ultra clean, it has no miles, it's red and an auto. Soooo, drop it in the biggest paper in your area for let's say -- $13,900 and get ready to get $12,500/$12,900.
I feel the dealer has given you the "whole coma se' yama ..and a bag of chips"
Good luck..and let us know.
Terry.
Thanks,
Jim
P.S.Records, Runs very good, Michelins,tint,etc
What do these go for at auction?
Well, let's see. It's an auto with a Reg cab and the V6 ... right..?
This is a $11,000 vehicle, maybe more, with no miles.
Are you trading this ..?
Terry.
Terry.
Thanks for your thoughts. Interesting. With the tax savings, sounds like I can't do much better on my own. (I'm in Indiana, by the way, but thought I might sell it in Florida).
This raises other questions about the car I want to trade for. It's a 2001 Volvo S40, deep metallic blue with cream leather, sun roof, cold weather package. Even though it's a 2001, its new (270 Mi). The MSRP is 29,000 plus?(can't remember exactly) They have it on clearance for $24,716 and say that's the bottom line. They tell me the factory is giving them back $2,500 for "end of year money", but that will be going away after tomorrow. Seems like they really want to dump this car (maybe that's why they're offering the 11,500 for trade). According to Kelly blue book the retail should be about a thousand more for this Volvo.
I guess my questions here would be: Do you know anything about sales being soft on the S40 (I wondered why they still have a 2001 on the lot)? Does $4,500.off list seem like a reasonable price discount for a year old model? And could I be making a mistake by buying the 2001? I can get a 2002 for about $3,000 more.
Let me know your thoughts. I do appreciate the input, as I don't know much about cars. Thanks,Cindy
It must be nice and clean .. Well, if you want more money for it -- then you need to retail it. Throw it in the biggest newspaper in your area with a big fat "5 liner" ... make sure it's clean and detailed and the service records are on the front seat. Start it up at $4,900 (must sell) .. let someone come over and abuse you, and give Ya $4,1/$4,3/$4,500. Then go out and buy a new GS430.
Terry.

I love Volvo's .. everyone that knows me, knows that. But the S40's are weak in the market. They are all over the auctions ... but, that doesn't make them any less vehicle.
Loaded up, 01's with 10k, the slider and all the toy's are doing "around" the mid to high $18's at the block --- Soooo, this should give Ya some help ...I hope.
Let us know ..
Terry.
I have a gold 2002 Accord EX auto with about 9,500 mi. I bought last August (1st one sold in mid-MO) and a 1990 Honda CRX that has a great interior and about $1500 worth of damage to the body. I've put about $2,000 into the engine (not that a dealer would care with the beat up body) so the CRX runs well.
I would like to get an idea of 3 three things:
1. How much do you think the dealer would want for the Celica?
2. How much do you think I could get for the Accord (private party and wholesale/trade-in)?
3. How much could I get for the CRX on trade?
I also have a CRV (as you know) that is nearly paid off but I still owe about $20,000 on the Accord (nothing on the CRX).
Thanks in advance!!
See if they will trade you for your Stang and $12,000 - plus the tax and state fee's, that would be a deal.
Gotta go...
Terry.
Thanks
PLUMMER
01 Ram 1500 quad cab SLT 5.9 2wd dark blue over silver, power windows, locks, drivers seat, infinity sound,tow,...it's got everything except for leather. 9,000 miles and in perfect shape. I'm in the northern CA bay area. Is this a truck that they'll more than likely keep on the lot?
The 2002 ram is seriously growing on me, especially with the current rebate.
Thanks a ton in advance for taking the time...
Tim
I would think a dealer could sell this fast ..and I would think a Dodge dealer would be sniffin' around that high $16's to low, low $17's ..
Good luck ..and let us know.
Terry.
GO Patriots...! That away .......!!!!!!
Terry.
Is it a Explorer .. Gladiator ..Starcraft ..?
Drop me some more info .. high top..? TV ..? power bed..? etc.
Terry.
IF the EX is a V6 it's worth around $20ish with 9,5k. The CRX, that "could" be worth $800/$1,000 .. maybe. It sounds kinda ruff.
The Celica is a tuff target .. they are few and far between. If it's a nice one, clean, looks like a 99, knee deep in rubber, the paint is all there, the top needs -0-, etc. The dealer probably has like $5,000+ in it.
So if I was him/her .. I would be asking $7995. And if I had to, I would sell it for $6,500.
I hope this helps ...
Terry.
My Accord is a 4cyl so I was thinking it was worth $18,000-$18,500. The CRX I figured $1,000.
Unfortunately, the wife doesn't want a car that old so I will probably wait until I pay off the Accord and get a new Miata.
"2002 Chevy TrailBlazer with LT package and "driver convenience" package (driver info. center, auto climate control, rear climate control, steering wheel radio controls). 5K miles. Virginia. Excellent condition (garage kept, no smoker, oil change at 2K, etc.), drives and handles quite capably, no mechanical problems, etc.; it's just that the driver's seat is, for me, painfully uncomfortable (a problem that of course didn't present itself during a decently long test drive)."
Forgot to mention in original post that it's 4 (four) WD and "pewter" (silver) in exterior color, gray cloth interior.
Bill thought $27K (and strongly counseled against trying to have the seat reupholstered or rebuilt). Don't doubt him for a second, but the more opinions the merrier
Would I do any better with dealer from whom I bought the truck and with whom (I'm pretty sure) I have a nice relationship? Or will it be arm's length at this point.
Well, that was a good guess on Bills part. He musta had his weadgy board out..l.o.l..maybe a little closer to that $28 figure and about a "ghee wiz more" if it's got the above mentioned.
These are pretty strong in the market right now .. I would defiantly try the 1st dealer out, give em' a chance.
But what you really need to do is .. find the vehicles that you like the most, and take em' for an afternoon or even an overnight and put some miles on em'. Drive em' in the city, lumpy bumpy roads etc, well you know what you need.
Terry.

Well anyway, What you get on this vehicle, will obviously depend on what type of dealer it get's traded on.
It's the right color, the Nav system will help a little, not much.. (on all the vehicles, nice toy but nobody cares) .. So you are lookin' at "around" the high $21's perhaps the ultra low $22's ..if it's as close to showroom as it left.
I hope this helps ...
*Oooop's -- Just saw it's an S-Type* -- BIG difference..! That makes it worth another hundred or so... Kidding..! Let's try "around" the Ultra high $24's. That should make your day.. huh..?
Terry.
Can you please, give me your opinion about Honda Odyssey 2000 EX - Gold / 39,200 miles in Mid West. I installed cd changer other than that in great shape. How much should I expect from a dealer and How much should I ask for sale by owner. Thanks in advance.
Yep, it's me asking about the Jeep Cherokee again. Mom's lease is almost up and I'd like to buy it from Chrysler Financial if they'll gimme a good deal (I need a SUV/truck thing....).
Details are:
1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport
33K miles
2WD, 4 door, 6 cyl, auto
that desert tan/gold color with tan cloth
all the usual power goodies
Infinity CD/cassette
no roof
tires are OK but not great (OE Goodyear's have 4/32 left)
fantastic condition, no dings, scrapes, or scratches except for normal stuff from suburban driving
in N. Alabama
Residual is $11,900. What are you seeing at auction and what do you think I could get CFCC to bite on?
Thanks as always
- - Bret - -
48,000 miles
Moon roof
JBL sound systems with 6-disk changer
Cloth seats
Good condition
Air
Has every available option for the SHO but leather
seating
then you are in and around that $6ish figure (real money)..
Terry.

14 months, New rotors and pads 8/01, new tranny
6/01.
