What do ya think Terry? My friend Damon says you'll set me straight.
Terry, I'll keep ya posted. Dad should be quite pleased with that value!
Not quite sure I understand what you are asking. I love my Titan, its the dealer that's making me hate the whole thing. IF they straighten things out I'll be alright with it, but for now I'm not too happy. I don't have my Titan which is a pain right now with all the snow. Who knows when I'll see it again. Neat truck, but the dealer needs a serious lesson in customer service!
Good thing I'm too buried in the lease to trade it or I'm afraid after yesterday I'd be on the hunt!
So, doesn't this all go back to when you used to be on the Explorer boards complaining about it, and I said "see you on the Titan boards in a few months"...lol, just pickin on ya.
I like the Titans myself, but I have a feeling an '01/'02 Pathfinder is in my future, but I could be wrong.
Now back to the topic at hand...you stated that the Titans depreciate rather harshly. What would a used '04 be going for now?

Not suggesting you are, but if you read a "few" of the twenty-odd-thousand posts here, you will be even smarter than you are now. How in the world can you expect a "book" to tell you what your 11-year-old car is worth??? CarMax is usually on the high side of realistic.
I'm with dk on this one: Take the money and run... or have edmunds cut you a check for it.

And you haven't cashed the check yet ... ? not only is that "all" the money on the planet Earth, it's all the money on Saturns moon, Titan ...

In the glorious state of NY ... we have a 97 Intrepid ES, miles are super looow for the year, color is good anywhere, pw seat, new rubber, these are actually pretty nice road cars set up like yours, 3.5, big roomy, nice ride, huge trunk, great gas mileage - but I digest ..
If it's clean, serviced, no collisions at K-mart, no battles at Burger King, no apple tree's at the Aunts house, no salt invasions, just a nice car ... then trade side, in and around the mid/high $2's, "might" maybe get a dealer to roll over the $3 figure if it's jam-up perfect, glows in the dark, needs -0- and he's still hung-over from New Years eve ..... this is a "great" vehicle for Retail Rd, superb detail, wonderful 5/6 liner Ad in the Big Fat paper in the area, $5,900 *asking* and wave bye bye at $5,0/$5,5 ... the low miles, the ES, and the rubber will sell this puppy and I bet it won't take long - my guess, target price:$5,000 .....
Let me know ...

bad news? 82K clicks.
What's reasonable in NJ for this bad boy? Owner had it listed at $12,999, which didn't sound too shabby
============================
82,000 miles ....?!? .. Yikes.! ...
What .. did they use it on their paper route to pay for it ...?
$12,900 ...? this guy needs a better dating service .... dealer probably didn't want it, it's a handshaker, it's a 323, it's got a Ton of miles, dealer is just going to take it the auction .. my guess is, they threw $9ish at him and $10,0 would flat kill it (dealer side) and he ran out the door, I'm sure the books "forgot" about all dem' miles ... "if" every service has been done since mile 1, no runs no hits no errors, no paint, no Brillo pad interior, deep rubber, new stoppers all the "K" service has been done - a fair price for both ..? $11/$11,5 ........ $12,9 ...? how about a nice 04 SES Taurus with 8k and all the stuff ...? ..l.o.l...
Terry.
I agree, folks needs to drive one of these before they get on the band wagon of, not enough HP or they read something in a magazine -

Tampa, right down the street from my Dad ...
03 Hooonda EX, we got the 4 banger, we got the auto thing, color is good, interior is bad for the area, miles are looow, wheels, breeze, slider, it's got all the stuff, normal EX .... no visits to Maaco, no curb burners, no slash and run interior, serviced .... then trade side, in and around the super extra tall $14's, low/mid $15's, might maybe get a dealer to wander farther then he's ever gone before and drop the tall $15's, maybe .. the low miles save it, the interior can hold it back ...
**My friend Damon says you'll set me straight**
what figure were you thinking ..?

I bought a fully loaded 2005 Mazda6s auto. I love the car but I don't think the car is selling well. My car built date is 8/04, so it've been sitting on their lot for good 4 months. I hope I can keep this car for a while (> 7yrs) since I expect the trade-in no where near the Accord is.
Thanks again

Morning Mike, another Buck fan .....
Lets see here .. "05" CTS with 9,800 miles - CPO.? trade or auction vehicle .? ... miles are a little tall for the year, the color is a rough for Florida, we have the Bozo sound, we have the sport and the Luxomatic, slider, Nav, blinders, shiny Bling things, no such thing as "outstanding" in this hemisphere, unless your driving a 9,000 mile light color DB7 .... trade side, in and around the super tall $27's low/mid $28's, might get reeeal lucky and get a dealer to drop $29,0 into it, maybe, and thats a big maybe .... the color and the miles aren't your friend here, the color kills it, but probably a good buy at $31/32ish .....
let me know how it goes ....

I like my Titan, but my Quest was a better vehicle.
As for resale, that would be a question for Terry. I'll use my truck as an example in the next post.
2004 Titan CC LE 4x4, white/grey leather, 4k miles, all the power stuff, memory driver's seat/mirrors, butt warmers, big tow package, utility bed pkg (standard on LE). Its got a few rock chips, but nothing major. No interior invations, my kids know better. So, what would it be worth trade and retail?
Now I'll go cringe at the answer.
That's why I'm asking Terry.
"I'm no fool." But I'm a Motley Fool, and I'm trying to get every dollar I can.
Here in the Dallas area, dealers are retailing Jeep GC's in the same trim/mileage/age range as mine in the low 5K's. Private sellers in the high 3K's. I think there is room to pay a little more.
I guess I can sell it on eBay. People tend to ask too much for their cars on eBay, maybe someone will pay too much for my Jeep.
I realize this is kind of an "apples vs. oranges" question, esp. w/the salvage title on the JGC, but thanks in advance for any advice,
Lots of fun offroad, they are narrow, so fit in tight spaces that other SUVs are too wide for......think narrow little bridge over a deep culvert with huge trees on either side. My 98 made it through there twice with no scratches, had to fold the mirrors in though and my little brother was sucking up seat cushion....hehehe.
I've looked at older Jeeps, 4Runners, Paths, ran the gammit when I was looking for an SUV a couple summers ago. Ended up with a 97 Explorer, I wish I'd taken the 94 JGC and the $1500 that one car dealer offered for my 94 Chevy (better yet I wish I'd kept the Chevy).
The V8 is the 318, good solid engine, sometimes a little leaky but not bad. The I-6 is darn near bullet proof, can't kill 'em.
Look it over good, have a mechanic inspect it, if it checks out go for it. They are good rigs, I know I miss mine. Dern tanks in the snow.
People ask too much for their cars on eBay, but if you look at the actual selling prices, they're pretty close to Terry's quoted price. Then subtract the fees eBay levies.
I'm a Motley Fool too, and your best bet here is to clean it up and sell it yourself. At that price point, you may find someone who will pay a stack of $100 bills for it.
I'm getting ready to buy another Jeep GC.
Salvage title? Make sure you can get auto insurance. Some companies won't underwrite cars with salvage titles.
you have more ego than car.
even though you "think" a dealer should pay more for it, you arent in charge of their checkbook, and you do not do this everyday.
Terry - What do you think? Take the first offer over $1500? I plan to put it on Autotrader in a week or two. Yeah, I know the engine compartment could use a good cleaning. :-)

I did a search in the Dallas area, $4288 is the RETAIL ASKING for a 1996, Laredo 8cyl, auto, with 4wd, 110K, and the dealer has to have it ready to sell. Since most asking prices include some fudge factor to provide for an overallowance on someones trade in ego, the actual cash out the door sales price on the vehicle is certainly much less. A similar 95 to yours has an asking price of $2988 with a few more miles on it.
If you don't have time to try and get it ready to sell yourself to get every dollar on the private party side, then the $1800 is all the REAL Cash money you are going to get.
Any dealer on trade can 'show' an overallowance due to the extra fudge they put on the price on the cars they are selling.
Heck, even on the Buy Here Pay Here super high double actual retail sock it to you price, that one would not bring $4,000 up here in the Midwest this time of year with 2WD. BTW you might want to try and cash sell it to a couple of BHPH lots to see what kind of money they will give for it, you just might change your mind on the $1,800.
I'm kind of worried that at 76K miles & 10 years old, a lot of stuff is "getting ready to fail", on a Jeep. But I guess I can donate it or something if that happens. I know the 318--you'd hope they'd have gotten it right after 20 or 30 years. Maybe I just "want a truck"......& this might be cheap enough to have around as a 2nd vehicle/truck/snowmobile etc. Anyway, that's my theory/excuse.
I have several friends with Jeeps, one with a '94 JGC that just will not die...she's considered a new JGC, but just can't give up on her old one. Another friend has a '93 Cherokee that just keeps going and going and going. Good luck!
ALthough maybe I should be moving straight on to Buick. I seem to be falling apart as I age. Maybe it's those sporty stick shift cars beating me up??
Maybe I should call on the 323. If it is as nice as represented, I could offer 10K if he gets desperate. Gotta be in it to win it.
Wonder what a 4K mile tC is worth??
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
This is listed as a CPO car, for past years (2003, 04) Edmunds TMV lists a substantial jump in price (like 2,500-3,000) The miles are a little high. I got the prod date, 1 June 04 sale date was 1 Jul 04, that's 1,500 miles / mo or 18,000 / yr. That's a high average, but not much higher that we would put on it (my wife does a lot of driving). I'm thinking it might be good for her as a 100,000 mile warranty CPO car. GM dearlerworld system shows that the selling dealer is the same one that has it for resale, so it might have been a trade up for a bigger car (maybe they bought a Sedan DeVille or something??).
Black is not our favourite color either - but I like black on Cadillacs, and so dies my wife.
What is a DB7??
Lastly I'm not a "tampa bay succanears" fan, they were pretty dismal this year (5-11) I'm for the Patriots! - former MA resident.
Woop, I read that but didn't think about it when I made the post. You're exactly right. However, it didn't sound like there was a great deal of damage to it.
"ALthough maybe I should be moving straight on to Buick. I seem to be falling apart as I age. Maybe it's those sporty stick shift cars beating me up??"
The new LaCrosse looks pretty good. My parents offically became "old folks" (their words, not mine) when dad bought a LeSabre. It's actually a very nice car, considering the competition was a Lincoln Continental...the LeSabre was better equipped, and it rides like a couch on wheels. That could be a plus and minus though...not too hot in the twisties, but after dad said about 5 years or so ago "I'M NEVER OWNING ANOTHER GM!" when his '93 SSEi was in the shop for the 3rd alternator, or was it the starter...may have been the water pump, something. Anyway, now he owns 2...a '98 Grand Prix GT and the '00 LeSabre Limited, (which of course replaced the SSEi) and loves them both. So far, they've both been very reliable. The GP has 110k on it now.
I think the Regals were pretty reliable too, and had the GS had the supercharged six. Then theres always a GTO...
"What is a DB7?? "
Aston Martin makes the DB7, which was James Bond's car of choice in the most recent Bond movie.
I got what I wanted plus I saved myself the trouble of selling it. Having an ego helps.
"Mechanic's Special", I don't think so ...
Every 100/150k+ vehicle needs a little (or a lot) of work and it's no secret, and the folks that are looking for that price range know it, plus this is an XL with all the junk .. so I don't think your giving yourself enough credit, the vehicle has "eyes" and someone will buy it - if I ran it at the auction down the street from you it would see $2,5ish ... so $3,900 *asking* and away it goes for $2,9/$3,5 .. a fair price on both sides ..............
Terry.
Terry.
Terry: Shhhhh! I was thinkin' the same thing, and thinking about "let's meet near Toledo, $2k cash". Of course, I'm a little far from Toledo at this time :-)
The only thing I'd worry about are the frt seals, and if it isn't dripping, forget it. Might be the dealer drummin' up a little business. Valve covers I'd do in an afternoon, and axles I'd have someone do when they start to "click". Or repair boots from JC Whitney & renew every year. Heck of a driver...

$8,900 .? .. You did Suuuuper.!
I always wanted a room with a Vue ..
Actually, I like these little Ions ... I have the twin to yours sitting on one of my lots with 21k ...... 16k.? .. $8,900 is ALL the money (and then some) so you did just fine ......... enjoy the VUE .................

Maybe a nice little glass of some real nice Australian Chardonnay before we chat ...... aaahh, isn't that better.?

03 Passat GL ... 4 banger base, we have super looow miles, auto, color is kinda yukky, no slider, no cow stuff, but a nice vehicle ... if it's as nice as you say it is ~ then trade side, in and around the low/mid $13's, might maybe get lucky and get a dealer to be a brave soul and waddle towards the $14 figure, the only thing that saves this dude is the low miles .... $15++.? I don't know how they can be realistic when dealers are only paying the mid/tall $15's for the low miler V6 GLS's ..... of course I don't do the printing, I just do the reporting ..... ;^)
Let me know how it goes ....
