Well, hopefully they will give more than my estimate.
A similar car at the block would be in the $9500 range. Figure it hits the lot around the mid $10s and finds its way to your driveway for about $12k-$13k.

I finally saw some pictures of the accident. The two things that concern me in terms of whether they'll repair it or total it, is that the front and rear side curtain airbags deployed and whether there is frame damage. From what I could see, the drivers side front wheel is tilted up and inward on a level surface.
We shall see. Thanks again.

glad that your sis seems OK. And that is a big part of the reason I decided to take the flyer on the 2007 S40 this year, since the plan is to have my daughter driving it when she can solo (she drives it all the time now with me or my wife while she is on permit).
I hope she never is in an accident, but if something bad happens, I want as safe a car around her as possible!
This is exactly the reason my parents put my sister in that car. It was my mom's first, and then at the end of lease they bought it and it went to my sister.
The car did exactly what it was supposed to - it took the hit instead of her. I am eternally grateful to Volvo.

Hello, Dayton, Ohio 2010 Chevrolet Traverse LT FWD 40,000 Dark Blue ext./charcoal int. Rear entertainment center, 2nd row captain chairs, Bluetooth, remote start Interior very good, exterior good with some scratches and dings Tires about 75% worn Brakes good Maintenance as scheduled
Running through a couple options as a replacement. Curious to know what to expect to pay for the three of these (when you have a free minute, I know I've been a pain in the rear):
#1) 2010 VW Jetta 2.5 SE - Upgraded audio system, under 45k miles, CPO
#2) 2010 VW Tiguan S FWD - Base, also CPO
#3) 2010 VW Jetta TDI - Loaded with Nav - 23k miles (no CPO).
Thanks in advance - I owe you big on this one.

2022 Tesla Model Y Performance, 2018 BMW M240i Convertible, 2015 Audi Q5 TDI
#1. About $13k auction value for 40k-45k miles. Probably looking at $17k CPO.
#2. Hmmm... not any out there with those miles. I'd project around $2k more than #1.
#3. Loaded with Nav? I'll take a stab at about $20k at the block. Maybe $19k as a trade. Was this the private party one? Figure $21k-$22k. More like $23k at a dealer.

As much as I love diesel VW's...I'd say pass on #3 at any cost. Too many problems with the newer models...like $10,000 engine problems. Probably because of our lousy diesel in the states, but that doesn't change the facts.
The Jetta is about what I expected - I'm seeing some in the high 15's/low 16's advertised, my guess is that they're early 2010s.
The Tiguan's seem like an awful value used - I called around and most dealers won't budge below 19,8-20,9 for a base S FWD. They're in the high 23s new!
The TDI is a family friend's car - I'm seeing prices for a 2010 TDI all over the board with the mileage, as low as 20k in same cases.
No clue what makes the most sense - probably not a VW or Volvo....
2022 Tesla Model Y Performance, 2018 BMW M240i Convertible, 2015 Audi Q5 TDI
I've seen and read what you're talking about. It seems that VW is stepping up to the plate in most cases without any questions asked, particularly if the car is dealer serviced.
But, your concerns are well founded.
2022 Tesla Model Y Performance, 2018 BMW M240i Convertible, 2015 Audi Q5 TDI
They seem to be (finally) stepping up to the plate. I just wonder what happens if the problem comes back...it doesn't seem like they're updating parts and the fuel is still garbage. I would love to have a new TDI but the hassle (and risk...and high diesel prices...) just doesn't make any financial sense. I put over 200k miles on my '00 Jetta TDI and loved every minute of it.

That's a whole lotta miles for a 2011.

Filled out the form on AutoTrade, offer came back at $5,450 (subject to inspection)
Filled out a form for voffer.com, a local Dallas service I found on Google, they offered $6,450 (subject to inspection)
Turns out voffer.com is affiliated with a local high-end used car dealer, selling mostly BMWs, Jaguars, etc. off leases. I took the Mazda there expecting the worst. They gave it a quick inspection, then said they needed to deduct $200 because of a couple of minor dents. Got a check for $6,250 on the spot. Whole process there took about 30 minutes. Sure beats selling on my own and, based on your advice, probably did better anyway.
Birmingham, Alabama 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L FWD 106K (haven't yet done the timing belt) metallic blue with gray interior maintenance has been by the took (but time for timing belt), new tires 2K miles ago, brakes are about 90%. Battery is recent. Clean carfax. No paintwork. Has a couple parking lot dings. The inside is near new.
We kept the Pilot for a few months after buying a Prius, thinking it would come in handy. It didn't. It sat unused. I was pondering whether or not to put nearly $1000 into a full 105K service and sell it privately. On a whim, I took it Carmax. They handed me a check for $10K, and I went on my way. That was easy.
There's a FWD Pilot in CT? That would be sort of like seeing a Unicorn. In reality, it probably doesn't matter, because even the AWD ones don't come to work when it snows.

I'll take a stab at about $25k. I mean, you've got one in Denver over 2 months ago that got $26,900, but then you've got 2 in PA in December that only hit $25k... let's assume those had no nav. Then, on one particular day in November, 6 of them crossed the PA block at prices from $25,800 to $27,800. Remember, that's 8 months ago! yours does have very low miles, though.

White is typically a strong color, so that's good. Premium is what I looked up. No idea what is standard or optional with that, but it doesn't really help me anyway since auction results don't show options.

Long Island, NY 2012 Volkswagen Golf TDI 4 Door DSG w/ Tech Package 15k miles United Gray over Titan Black Nav, Sunroof, Xenons, Bluetooth, 17" alloys. Condition is like new with no scratches, dings or dents.
I went with the DSG transmission and although an excellent piece of engineering, after the novelty wore off, I realized I really miss driving a manual. It was also a practical choice which is counter to my normal performance oriented choice of vehicles. It's a great vehicle, but has become extremely boring to me so I'm looking to get into something I'll really enjoy driving rather than the driving appliance that is the TDI.
That is an awesome car. I'm guessing around 20-21 on trade. Unfortunate since it'll probably hold its value for a while to come. I drove a 2009 Jetta TDI today with the DSG, which is the same drivetrain yours has, and loved it.

I only see a sales history of 2 cars. Both with half the miles of yours. Back in April, 1 in NJ for $22,600 and the 2nd just a few days ago in Riverside for $24,500. Sooo... its really up to guessing how the dealer will feel about it. I'd shoot for $22k.
Although, I wouldn't be trading it for the reason you state. Those take REALLY well to a tune. That, swaybars, and Koni FSDs would transform the car.

Thanks for the info, confirms that I should be able to get an acceptable amount for it.
The tune, swaybars and FSDs would certainly help, but not even come close to putting it into the performance realm I'm looking for. Just to offer some perspective, my previous car was a tuned 335i with full M3 suspension, Koni/Swift coilovers and Quaife LSD so the bar is set pretty high for performance. This was an effort to be more practical, but I'd rather pay to play than save a few bucks.
I never expect a car to last me more than a year, as that's been the average for how long I keep them around over the last dozen or so years. So in that case, the TDI has lasted just about as long as I expected. I tend to get bored with cars rather quickly.
I have gone the CPO route before and it does have its benefits. However with my OCD when it comes to cars, I need to find a CPO car that has the exact options I want, in the color I want, and has been babied by its first owner in the same manner I would. That makes it a bit more difficult.
