Go Tide! (Buddy of mine played for em couple years ago).
Its WHite, (THE Color combo down here in Hot-Land) And no miles.
$36K as a trade, but I could see someone going to $37K on it. Retail? I wouldnt take a DIME under $39K if it were me and it belonged to me. I betcha you could even get closer to $40K for it.
Thanks for the Help Bill. If you do not mind I have one more for you!!!
1993 Green Accord LX with 108,000 miles. Good tires & looks drive clean (will get it checked anyway!) How much you think it is worth in the market(Auction)? Its a trade-in at the local dealer by a person who got a certfied 99 Accord Silver EX with Leather!!
2002 Chevy TrailBlazer with LT package and "driver convenience" package (driver info. center, auto climate control, rear climate control, steering wheel radio controls). 5K miles. Virginia. Excellent condition (garage kept, no smoker, oil change at 2K, etc.), drives and handles quite capably, no mechanical problems, etc.; it's just that the driver's seat is, for me, painfully uncomfortable (a problem that of course didn't present itself during a decently long test drive).
Alternatively, any idea whether reupholstering is possible and, if so, at what cost? (Problem is that seat bottom is rock hard and the seat is also too long. It's a power seat so I don't know if the seat length can be changed.)
I wasnt geeeeeeeeeezzzzzin' about the time to get back to me, hey I thank ya for doing it for me at all. I was saying geeeeeeezzz must be such a bad price that they wont even answer me! Thanks appreciate the input. any advice on the tapping? mechanic time?
Seriously, sounds like a possible valvetrain problem. Maybe a valve adjustemtn is in order? If that's all it needs.. cool.
But it would sure as heck scare me. If I saw it, and it was tapping.. I'd hit ya around $4,500 thinking "Its gonna need an engine". Looking at it through my eyes.. you'd be scared too, right?
Have your mechanic look at it. It may be a big deal, it may not be., Have you maintained it properly??
Thanks, Bill, Ed & "hyperion". Very informative. Hard to believe diff. b/w 2WD and 4WD is $4-5K for used (diff. b/w hyperion's 2WD and Bill's 4WD estimates) when difference b/w MSRPs for comparably equipped new ones appears to be somewhat less (I couldn't find exact matches), but as a 4WD owner, I'm not complaining. Maybe it's just the difference between your Bill's and hyperion's opinions?
As a general matter, would I tend to do better with the dealer I bought from (who was terrific during the sales and initial service processes -- I wrote heartfelt commendation letters to the dealership owner about how I've been treated so far, and I gave the dealer equally heartfelt "completely satisfied" ratings in the mfr. survey), assuming I could find another Chevy product that would be comfortable and otherwise meet my needs, or would it be strictly arm's-length at this point, such that any dealer or Carmax would likely give me the same price?
Geez, don't listen to my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6-cyl in the cold. It sounds like the engine is going to fall out. It has a pretty loud tapping/ticking noise. I was worried at first, but then I talked to my friend who has a 96 Grand Cherokee 6-cyl with 123K on it and she said its tapped/ticked its whole life with no problems. I have put 6K on my Jeep with not a single problem, it currently has 55K on it. Just don't get me started on our 2001 Dodge.....which btw, taps/ticks too.
what exit? hahahahha thanks for the info, yes I have kept it up pretty good. I see your point as dealer too. Just one want is fair. You think it is worth getting a 4wd just on resale value difference? I have always had 'em, never use 'em. So now I figure Ill save some gas money and get a 2wd, any big difference there that ya know of? I know what the sticker says, but how does that hold up a year or two from now? And ya do pay more for 4wd upfront, so of course you would get more for it when ya got rid of it, so, does having it make the vehicle more desirable? Whats the deal with this salesman I was talking with tellin me they could give me pay off on Passport plus 200. since it is winter and "everyone wants a 4wd", jerky guy was tryin to play me like Milli Vanilli record I think, hell, Im not even North Jersey, where theres at least a chance Ill see more than a dusting of snow twice this year! oh well no more questions your honor.
Actually, to paraphrase some of the pros on the board:
"No 4wd? North of the Mason Dixon line, that dawg won't hunt"
OK, that's more butchering than paraphrasing, but...
Three consistent valuation-preservation themes seem to be:
1) North/cool winters 4wd or don't bother Black is a Good Thing
2) South/hot summers White is a Good Thing Black is a Really Bad Thing. Black on black is worse. 4wd doesn't matter one way or the other
3) Transmission Buy any kind you want, as long as it's automatic.
There's a lot more, as I'm sure you'll see, but a few things are hard to forget after reading nearly 5000 posts on a topic. (Yes, I've read them all. Yes, I do too have a life. No, I don't have a new car yet. Yes, it's almost become a hobby.)
Ok, now our brother wants to trade his 98 Toyota SR5 4x4 in. Its green with the grey cloth, auto,V6, sunroof,rboards,cd,58k,tow pack. New tires 10k ago. He keeps his cars like we do,clean. No dings, 1 small dent about the size of a pop can, right rear door. Cant hardly see that with his 20 coats of wax. The Chevy dealer says its worth maybe $14,000 if they can do the deal by the end of the month. You and Bill have helped us alot, we think its worth more money, we could be wrong. Should he sell it outside?
...... Well, based on what your telling us -- it sounds nice and clean, it has most of the stuff and the miles are ok for the year...
$14,000, I think is perhaps that it's a domestic dealer might be influencing that number ... or perhaps they have a bunch of Blazers sittin' around and just don't need another 4x4 .... or, they know they can take it to auction and get $15,500++.
I would recommend to your brother to do a little shopping around --- IF- it's super nice, it will do at least, ..$15,000. Or if he decides to retail it, $17,900 is a good start price and let someone come over and buy it for $16,9/$17,1/$17,300
It has about 75,000 miles, automatic, 2WD, no extended cab, short bed. It is black, probably needs tires, no dents. What should this go for on trade in the Missouri area?
Dealer quoted $4,000 on trade for a 2000 Grand Voyager. The dealer is doing this promo where they sell the car for KBB + they pay the sales tax. I just want to make sure they aren't gougeing the trade value of the truck. Thanks in advance.
2000 black Volkswagen GTI GLX (VR6) 5 spd with 40K miles. In-dash CD player added. In very good condition - paint and interior look very good. I've got all the service records...if you think the dealer would care about that. What do you think it should fetch in trade.
thanks again! headin to Orlando as we speak, and Im taking my 2wd with me! LOL (not an suv, though, I have a 4wd suv now, looking at compact p/u 2wd). exit 2? wwaaayyyyyyyyyy North eh?
Ive got a 1996 Camaro RS with a standard tranny. Car has all power everything and all the gadgets but leather interior. Also T-Tops. Is in average condition a few scrapes and a little ding in the front fender. Mileage is 45,000. I would like to trade on a nice Mustang GT . Can find any right now in NYS, but Im confident spring will bring them out of the woodwork. Whats my camaro worth and is there any advantage to trading this because of the eminent end of these shortly ? Thanks, John
Oh, like you don't have enough on your plate already, can I get a quote on my sister's car?
1994 Mazda MX6 LX V6 Handshaker, sunroof, spoiler Dk. Green, In Atlanta, Tires... say 50%
"Basically loaded"
Headlight knocked loose on passenger side, functional but would need repair for retail Paint scratched around trunk from strap-on bike rack Minor wear & tear...
Hey everybody...okay go ahead and laugh and point...I know I can't get much.
I bought a '96 Saab 900se turbo 5spd 5dr Hatchback from my father two years ago. Now I am looking to sell it. It has 53K miles on it Black with Tan interior. Unfortunately I live in Charlotte, NC and no one drives them here. What should I expect as far as trade-in and what could I get selling it on my own?
I'm looking at a 1999 crown victoria with 14,000 miles, private sale, owned since new by an elderly couple, cloth interior, light green, everything looks and drives perfect. What would it sell for at auction in the Northeast/PA, and what would I have to pay for the car if I went to a dealer?? Great forum, thanks!!!!!!!!
I'm looking to trade in a 2000 Mustang GT, laser red metallic, AM-FM,cass,cd Mach460 premium sound. Power windows, locks, drivers seat, mirrors, 4 wheel ABS. 5 speed with electronic traction control and 17 inch stock aluminum wheels with good 245/45/ZR17 rubber. The only negative is 63,000 highway miles. The exterior is well maitained, I wax it once a month, it shines. The paint is great a few tiny stone chips in hood. Interior is clean. Most people can't believe the mileage because it looks so good.
I'm trading it at a Ford Dealer on an Excursion 4WD Ltd., if thats important.

The Mustang. $6,500 or thereabouts I think wholesale. So $8,950 in the paper, and take.. oh, $8K at least.
The Wrangler should do about $9-10K across the block, So figure to be between $10,500-12,500. Some more info on it would help.
Bill
I think you're in the $6,500-6K ballpark, the miles are killing it I am afraid.
Bill
Bill
See where I am going here? Sell it privately for $2,950

Past that youre in "Dummyland" as a buyer I think...
What did it do?
Bill
But it could pull $9k EASILY on eBay... $10-11K+ in the paper.

FYI, a good automotive trim shop can make a foam cushion and upholster it so that you hardly notice it.
Ed
$27Kish I think.. I seen em do upper $20Ks...
$29,950 in the paper. And I SINCERELY Doubt you wanna get into rebuilding the seat.
Bill
Thanks
Yup.. those are wholesale values.. so expect $1500-2000 as easily obtainable over them for private sale.
Sorry
Bill
Im from Jersey too and wasw "Bustin ya..errr.."

93 Accord EXA? 108K? Mint? $3,500-4K across the block.
Now, what can you buy it for?

BTW, if anyone here just won the lottery, may I please, _please_ have a Vanquish? OK, borrow yours?

I would be more worried if they didn't. .l.o.l. Those little "bad boy" 6's should run 150k++ (properly maintained)...
