When I brought it to the dealer, mechanic sad that it was a downshift fro 3rd to 2nd.
I find it a bit odd.
As for the other post about Grade Logic Control.. This is exactly what it supposed to prevent. And most of my observations of this, were on leveled road.
In 1966, I had "issues" with a new Ford Fairlane that was as horrible as a new car can be. Fortunately, it was a company car (used exclusively by me) and I hated it. My solution to the problem was to ignore Ford cars from that time on.
Sure, Fords have improved since 1966 and my last car was a Mazda which is a partly Ford-owned company that shares engineering and parts. That almost kept me from buying the Mazda which was an excellent car. One of the reasons that I bought an Accord is that the new Mazda 6 has too much Ford in it.
The point is that if you disagree with the manufacturer about enough aspects of their products, don't buy their cars. There are plenty of alternatives.......Richard
I cannot link it but the 05’s on forward using the third working geared shaft and the jet kit seemed to have cured Honda/Acura of their tranny issues according to the tech’s that work on them. ToV and Drive Accord.net have the details. Only time will tell however?
Good Luck

By the way, how does one store favorite XM sations?
I'm wondering how decent is the '03 - 05 Honda Accord's security system. I know that it includes the Immobilizer Theft-Deterrent System, but I'm wondering if anyone knows anyone had his/her Accord stolen with the Honda security system armed?
Make your deal on the Accord you want as if it had NO dealer added items--let the dealer remove the junk or give you whatever they've tacked on free or you'll go elsewhere. Don't fall for price-packing silliness!
Accords are wonderful cars, but they're not scarce and they're currently selling for less than prices were 18 months ago.
Again, walk away before you pay for ANY dealer added $#@*&!......Richard
The Radio sounds pretty good, but I was wondering how to make it better...Anyone have any hints.
Thanks
I don't believe that it's possible to modify Honda's great integrated XM satellite radio to work with Sirius. Why bother? XM has loads of wonderful programming, and costs three dollars less per month pre-discount.
You could always add a Sirius hang-on unit if you couldn't live without their programming.
Didn't feel any engine braking when crusing at 40 or 80 mph then take my foot of the gas.
The TSX weighs more than the Accord but yet the TSX is approx. 6 inches shorter. What is the reason for this? What is heavier in the TSX than in the Accord?
Our TSX discussion has already gotten sidetracked with Accord comparisons, let's don't sidetrack this one as well with TSX comparisons.
(And yeah, if anyone saw my earlier post here, you saw me getting all tangled up with TSX and Accord conversations busting out all over.
See ya over there!
1. the dealer has asked me to buy the protection package. I saw a few post about this and some said it's a rip off. Any more opinions?
2. the LX doesn't come with a ceiling cover for the trunk. Is this true? Is it worth it to buy from the dealer?
3. I am interested in getting the metal trim kit, but I find it is too expensive buying from the dealer. Any ideas?
4. How easy is it to get the outdoor temp. gauge installed?
Thanks alot!
2) true, no
3) skip it
4) WARNING, this is an evasive answer -try to spring for an EX model. in my opinion the extra cost is well worth while for all the goodies you get including the outside temp gauge.
here, i'll tempt you:
alloy wheels, 6 disk CD changer, 4 wheel disk brakes, power moonroof, better seat cloth, steering wheel controls and ceiling cover for the trunk!
if you're concern about cost just remember you'll get more for your car at trade in time. no, i'm not a sales man. good luck with whatever honda you get.
My plain 2004 EX 4 cyl Auto (no leather or navi) does not have it. Just wondering if it is supposed to have one.
and if you get the gray or black interior, you'll get some of the metal trim that you wanted..plus it has more features.
I have a Accord 2005 ex-v6
It shouldnt be real bad. In any case. I drive a 4 banger ranger back and forth to work. It has the worse drive line lash Ive ever seen. not to mention the 5 speed trany is the worst Ive ever driven. At 112k on it nothing has torn up and one learns to keep the driveline loaded. you can expect junk from a car with a american name badge on it.
But I would be very upset if a new honda had it to the point the ranger does.
Sorry to hear of your problem
psy
there is a dealer (at our local dealer anyway) installed "wood" option that would add even more wood. in my opinion it gets to be gaudy at this point and is grossly over priced.
The outside temp gauge is a fairly easy upgrade from what I understand. Also, if it installed by your Honda dealer it will be covered under the factory warranty.
Thanks for your replies.
Has anyone tried to install the outside temp gauge? Is it easy?
Thanks.
Jason
The defect may fall under repairs beyond the limited warranty, page 7 of the warranty booklet.
I really prefer the XM radio to CDs anyway (partial to Channel 28 and Broadway show music), but your MP3 CDs should work just fine in the Accord's CD changer.
The "nice but young salesperson"--surely younger than my 66 years--is correct.
My suggestion is to make an MP3 CD, try it in an Accord CD changer, and when it works as it surely will, buy the car which will be among the best cars you've ever owned...Richard
Whoooaaa. I am not exactly sure what you are doing but does the 6-disc CD-Changer in the Accord EX on up play native MP3’s (*.mp3) or are you converting your MP3’s to CDA format? If it is the latter, no thanks as the quality sucks big time. If it is the former, hot damn, there is something no one knew anything about!

With respect to playing MP3s directly into the Accord's sound system, I know nothing about that........Richard
I didn't find it particularly difficult - the worst part was getting the lower dashboard panel off. The second time, I prepared myself with two extra little metal spring-clips ($0.52 each at the dealer) to replace ones that I figured I'd break based on my first experience. Sure enough, I broke two. During reinstallation of the dashboard panel, I put a dab of white lithium grease on each spring-clip so that they'd slide out easier if I ever have to take the panel off again.
On a shade tree mechanic's scale of 1 to 5 (where 1 is easy and 5 is an all-day nightmare), I'd rate this job as a "2".
What are the chances some significant technology might be added like VSA (vehicle stability assist) or direct injection on the motor?
I think I understand your problem. You are in your highest gear ( I assume 5th on a manual shift 4 cylinder). And you brake and slow down considerable so that your rpm falls somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 rpm = 30-45 mph. When you step on the gas you get a hesitation. I think maybe you engine is lugging and you could solve the problem by downshifting to 4th gear in these situations.
Hope this idea helps!.
Thanks,
MidCow the Manual Shift Man.
The material is vinyl-based (soft) and the exposed surfaces have a thin clear layer that - if you have the EX that has the factory trim - makes it look cheap in comparison.
Go for the original kit that dealers can sell at 25% off when motivated. I got my original Honda aftermarket kit for $125.00 on eBay.
