While looking at the cars more closely the car in the exterior showroom no longer appears to be the Carbon Grey, I don't have the brochure with me but one of the bluish silver's seemed to match the exterior showroom color.
yesterday at the local dealers. Liked black on black, white with parchment, desert mist (gold) with parchment. Did not see blue, carbon gray, red etc. Really preferred the parchment interior. The wood is hard to see with the black. Did not see the taupe interior. I preferred black/parchment the best, but am disappointed the opulent blue pearl will not be offered with parchment. Did not drive it but my impression on the styling is that it is very hard to tell it apart from the TL from the front and side, it is only 6 inches longer, and the rear seat legroom and trunk space is not very generous. The center console sticks out from the dash somewhat oddly. I am excited to drive it, though, and I think it will be a winner.
Why close it??? Should be some great feedback as people take possession of their cars and relate their findings. I am looking forward to this type of inputs.
Me too! But once the vehicle is widely available for purchase, it doesn't belong in our "future vehicles" section. You'll still be able to talk about the 2005 RL in our regular Acura RL discussion. Unfortunately, we can't support a separate discussion for each model year for each make & model. But don't worry - we've still got a little while before this car is available nationwide.

Does anybody know why the Candians get the ventilated seats and we do not? Here is the link to the Canadian Acura site, look under amenities, the last entry says ventilated seats, heated and cooled http://www.honda.ca/AcuraEng/Previews/RL/Specifications Plus they get the headlight washer system and we don't? What a rip!
So, the total price is $52,227, which I think is a pretty good deal. However, if I add $4,051 sale tax to it, it goes up to $56,321. I think I will wait until 2006 to buy one as to see if RL does live up to its hype, and I think it will.
I remember a while back someone mentioned that already and if my meory serves me right, we also get something they do.
If you really want to go to extreme, you should look at what new Honda Legend in Japan, which is the new RL, is included. And, they have Mugen, which has kick-[non-permissible content removed] aftermarket parts for RL, and we have nothing.
Instead of the rubber mats, a reasonable dealership (too much to ask?) could throw in wood trim gear shift knob. All-season mats offer redundancy over the floor mats that the car comes with.
We don't get all the extra goodies because we'll pay for a car without them. That's the simple answer.
In Canada, the market for luxury cars is a good deal smaller. (So is the market for SUVs.) Canadians just don't buy cars in the same way we do. So, Acura has to offer more in order to lure buyers into the showroom.
You guys usually get a better selection of interior and exterior colours though.
You're right about the exchange rate. A couple of years ago, many models were a screaming bargain in Canada due to exchange factor. Given the rising Canadian buck, the reverse will be true soon, if not already.
Just drove mine home an hour ago. Opulent Blue Pearl with taupe interior. Incredible!! Drives like a dream. Everyone at the dealership was drooling over it! I was the first out of the dealership.

Just got back from driving the RL - mine is black with parchment interior. Awesome car to say the least.
Residual is 58%, with a money factor of .0245 - - based on 36 months, 12,000 miles/per. The money factor is .0255 if you want the security deposit waived (which i did). Acquisition fee is $595, and includes gap insurance.
Monthly payment is $797 - the only cash laid out is Maryland sales (5%) tax and tags/title, plus the 1st months payment.
$797 breaks down to:
Monthly depreciation of $596, and Monthly Lease Charge of $201.
So - what do you all think. Any way to improve on this? It's pure Honda Finance terms.
I liked the styling alot more than i thought i would. The front end is muscular -- with flared fender wells. Very nice look. The side is perhaps a bit bland, but overall, it works.
There's an abundance of new technology to learn/figure out, but it looks to be very intuitive.
The voice rec on the GPS was very cool - especially the ability to speak an address. Didn't get to see any real time traffic info on the GPS. Supposedly, Maryland is lacking in that area.
I have front mats, trunk Mat, and mud flaps on hold at the dealer today. I am waiting on a White. I had 2 RLs both 2000 one black on black and one white with parchment. I really like the parchment and wished I had it in the black car. By the way, I sold the black one 2 weeks ago for $20,500. I really love the cars. Also, have 2003 MDX Red w/parchment.
Enjoy,,
I will post once I take deliver in Little Rock, AR.
Just saw three RL's: Opulent Blue w/ Taupe, Meteor Silver w/ Ebony, and my favorite: Lake Shore Silver w/ Taupe! I'm waiting to see the Celestial Silver -- I hope it's better than the Satin Silver of the TL.
The car is fantastic! The interior is sooo elegant, and the leather is top notch!
We don't have them quite ready for sale. I just received an invitation for the private preview on Nov. 1. Cocktails and hors d'oeurvers to be served, valet parking provided.
This has been a great forum Kirstie. Thanks for your generous time as host.
I hope that we will be able to keep the forum opened for a little while longer as the new cars are in very, very short supply with precious few people actually having seen the new RL.
The Acura dealer in Oklahoma City (Bob Howard Acura) should be getting an 05 RL with Opulent Blue/Ebony Leather. If anyone is interested, he/she should contact them as soon as possible.

I happened by an Acura dealer yesterday,,,he had one lakeshore mist/taupe rl on his floor,,,already sold,,,this car very opulent, yet not overbearingly so,,,what a rich aroma of leather,,,the seats are top notch,,,they hug you,,,plenty of head room,,,I am 6'3,,,the sound system is as pure as sitting in my den,,,the door closing has the sound of quietness and solidity (not tinny, or hollow),,,the trunk is roomy,,,for me,,,the back seat offers no more room than my 2002 rl, which this dealer wanted badly on his lot!,,,
When you have pictures, post them! Congratulations.

I THINK IF YOU WANT THE CAR BUY IT OR LEASE IT LIFE IS TO SHORT TO WORRY ABOUT IT I TRADED A O4 RL AND TOOK A BEATING BUT I LIKED THE NEW RL AND DECIDED I'LL GET ONE (I'M NOT RICH OR ANYTHING )JUST LIKED THE CAR
I've been a loyal Acura fan since they first appeared in the US having had Legends, a TL and now getting ready to move on a 2005 RL (it's arriving next week).
Since this is my first car in the over $50K bracket, I did a little research on pricing - seems there's about $6K profit in each RL for the dealer. I expect the dealer to make a fair profit (and this may be it).
I'm somewhat resigned to the idea that the RL will be like the MDX and the TL when they first arrived: "Pay MSRP or stand back and let the next person in line step forward." However, in the luxury sedan market sales can be fickle and the RL, good as it is, may not "sell like hotcakes".
I'm open to input from forum members on their opinions on the availability of any discounting or offers that they might have received or think might be possible on this car.
I SEARCHED EVERYWHERE FOR DISCOUNTS THEY,RE JUST NOT OUT THERE. I TOOK MY BEATING LIKE A MAN AND BOUGHT ONE ANYWAY SO FAR HAVE NOT BE DISSAPOINTED . CONFUSED BUT NOT DISSAPOINTED

I'm sure there'll eventually be discounting, but after 6 months or a year, who knows at this point. However, the way I looked at it - I paid MSRP, but I'll get 6 months or a year of enjoyment while others wait for discounting down the road. In addition, if I were to have waited, my 99 RL would continue to decline in value. All in all, I don't think I'll regret having paid MSRP and getting it now.
To add to other comments - have only spent a little bit of time in the car, but so far, so great! I really like the way the seat holds you as you go around sharp corners. Love the way the headlights turned as I turned into my driveway last night - completely illuminating the driveway even before I completely turned. If you have kids who leave toys in the driveway, I'm sure you'll appreciate it.
It's going to take me a while to get everything programmed, but it appears to be relatively easy to do.
Just saw a fax from Acura to my dealership talking abuut a misdirected rail car which end up in Kansas City and 5 dealers involve (mine is one). Went on to say they are going to put them on a truck.

I'm disappointed in the look of the 18" wheels (not to mention the price), but I'll reserve final judgement until I see in person.
$614 for the backup sensors seems pricey also. Hope that includes installation.

All-Season Floor Mats $149.00
Selected Exterior Accessories
Splash Guards $109.00
18" Aluminum Alloy "High Performance" Wheel and Tire $1,928.00
Back-Up Sensor $399.00
Back-Up Sensor Attachment $215.00

BTW - No options or accessories. I will add larger wheels and tires after my check book has a chance to settle down a little...
