Invoice on Edmunds says $32,013.00. So, I think this ends up to be about $238.00 under invoice.
I'm happy. Though I had another dealer call me with the same price and would add wheel locks and 'another small option' if I made the 50 mile drive. I passed.
Deal was also passed up by my local dealer who sells 400 cars a month. Sales manager would only come within $50.00 of the out the door price. Nice salesman would have taken $50.00 out of his own pocket. But, I wouldn't let him do it.
I attempted to get the $1050.00 7 year/100,000 warranty as posted by another member here from
hondawarrantyinfo.com They couldn't match the price or get even close. I think my dealer wanted $1,800.00 for the same.
Thanks again. I hope my posting helps save someone else some bucks.
I'm thinking of buying a 2004 Odyssey - likely coming back in off a lease; the dealers seem to have a lot on their lots.
I am new to the used car buying game. I know how to run a title check and to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic before I buy, but am not sure how "puffed" the asking prices for the vehicles are.
I have a maximum that I am willing to pay for an '04 EX ($19,000), but I don't know if I should be looking at cars that are priced at $20,000 or maybe $22,000? There are so many to choose from - they even have listings under $19,000, so I know I can afford one, but I'd like to get the "best" vehicle I can (lowest milage).
About how much will an average dealer come down off the list price of a used Odyssey? Any thoughts or help is appreciated.
The sales manager did some adjustments to the numbers but basically the sale price including the destination charge($595), the dealer document fee($487), and some other fee(s) was $27,998. Sales tax(6%) - $1,679.88; title fee - $18; and lemon law fee - $3.
I agreed on the out the door price before arriving at the dealership and the sales manager kept his word and honored our agreed upon price. On the vehicle I choose there were already cross bars installed. I chose to have them removed but the sales manager said it would cost him too much in labor to remove them so he gave them to me. I also got the cargo tray and an appearance group package which includes pinstripe and splash guards. They were included at the out the door price. To tell the truth, I'm not sure what else is included in this appearance group package which a window sticker lists as $995.
I also took advantage of the current promotion and financed $29,000 at 0.9% for 36 months.
Thanks to all who previously posted. Hope my post helps someone.
Also another dealer had agreed to sell me the same vehicle but in a different color for $29,500 out the door.
To answer your question: no one can tell because it will vary somewhat depending on how much a store has in a particular car. I would think a 22K asking price is simply too high. All that you can do is find a couple of nice ones and negotiate on both to learn the bottom line on each and then make your choice. You only need to look at a few to get an idea of what's what.
And don't overlook a privately offered unit - you may be able to pick one up near wholesale from someone who is getting hosed on a trade number.
Bear in mind, too, that the condition of used cars can vary widely and it is worth spending a bit more for a premium vehicle.

Mine also came with wheel locks, splash guards and pin stripe.

Hope this helps.

Dealer Greenwhich Honda in CT. Did most of the deal over the phone and thru the internet. Very Friendly and helpful!!
I will be posting a lengthy message reguarding a Dealership to stay clear of when shopping for a Honda. I am debating wether or not to pursue a legal course. :mad: :mad:
thanks
I was not able to PM you. I am seriously considering to buy EX-L with RES (no Dvd) and dealers here in the upstate ny (albany area) are very Arrogant. Would you please e-mail me the name of the dealer (salesperson),
I have learned a lot from this forum and hope to keep learing...
thank you all,
mashin

Best deal I found ANYWHERE, nationwide, in North Atlanta. Did the "request a quote" thing and got generic "come on in and buy from us" flab from some dealers, but a few dealers sent their internet quote in email; this was the lowest of them all in my inbox. (Atlanta is the cheapest city for Odysseys some reason).
Anyone know what the procedure is for buying and picking up car out of state. I purchased from Massachussetts and am bringing the car back to NY. They want to charge me 5% MA sales tax . I think I can then pay difference and have NY collect or should I refuse to pay anything to Ma ?
Picked up last week:

Used link for Ext Warranty (8/120 @0ded) for $1230

Couldn't be happier!
I would just make a call to your local BMV office to confirm what you need to do. I'm sure this is a common occurance for them. Good luck.
Glad to be of help.
If u want to avoid MA sales tax , u have to get letter from dealer stating that the car was delivered on flatbed truck to your home in other state.
they should have no problem giving u this letter, they may not actually deliver it though.
which dealer did u buy from in MA and what price, which model?
if u need more help , pm me.
good luck
rawnak
I am planning to buy this same model.
what was your Out of Door price from the Eatontown Dealer?
thanks
If anyone recently bought the above model from southern Cali please let me know the quotes. I appreciate any 2 cent suggestion before jump into dealers doorstep.
The difference is in excess of three. I have a Touring and think that while the EX-L is a better value, the Touring has some really nice features, including:
- Parking sensors, front and rear;
- Power liftgate (which cannot be retrofitted, at least not
at any reasonable cost);
- Second row console;
- Auto-dimming mirror;
- Upgraded stereo; and
- Power adjustable pedals and memory seats.
Like most things in life, you get what you pay for.
When I bought my R&N, yes, it was harder to get a good deal not because it was a Touring but because Honda underestimated demand for R&N. It seems like now they are discounted about the same as the other Odyssey models.
I received a similar quote from Brewster Honda near Westchester NY.
$31,503 + Tax (7.75%) + doc fee with 0.9% APR for 36 months.
They are ready to give $30,503 but with higher APR.
I just wanna know if this is good deal.
Also if someone know any other dealer in southern cali with whom they have good experience let me know.
My local dealer just called to inform me the 0.9/3.9 interest rated has been extended thru March.
I tried to buy an 2007 Ody EX-L from two different local dealers and they lost my business because of the $995 "fluff" packages they have on the vehicle. Now he is calling to let me know the interest rate has been extended and can find me a vehicle without the "fluff" (my words, not his).
