Good luck.
Thanks.
With the end of the month upon us ---is anyone wanting to toss a thought on this great game board ---of car dealings --what the great Honda King ---will decide to offer ?
I am in the upper midwest ---and have to believe that the offers are going to have to improve----..we have been wanting a Odyssey NAV-RES --but the payments are a bit tight in todays economy -...especially when in a matter of a few weeks ---the 2009 's are going to show up ---making a new car purchased today ~~already a year old ~!!! We haven't been "lucky" enough to find anyone coming under the $30,700 ---basic car---no extra bells or whistles --and NO trade in either... Sigh~~~
We are now contemplating the Subaru Forester ---a much smaller vehicle --with manual transmission --(FUN ! )---and a 2009 ----and now coming with its own rebate of $2,000. And an easier price tag -----...want to share your thoughts ?
Sorry --if this caused anyone heart failure ~!!
$27k includes :
$840 tax
$90 tags
$475 processing fee
$675 destination charges
$595 appearance pkg
Thank you.
29,500.00 - vehicle cost
1,937.50 - Tax
441.00 - License
41.25 - Title
50.00 - Doc Fee
31,969.75 - TOTAL
Also found 6 year financing through HIWAY Credit Union for 5.5% (need to open a checking and have a monthly direct deposit to get this rate).
Any feedback or thoughts on the final purchase price?
I'm getting quotes in the high $23k range (incl destination). Is that good?
Good Luck!
I was an F&I manager in Seattle from '02 - '05 and I remeber that high tax rate!
I followed the instructions here to get email quotes from 10 dealers in my area -- all were willing to send me base price, destination, doc fee, tax, license, and the OTD (out the door) price. They're all willing to compete with each other at this point.
The economist's honda experience podcast mentioned in this forum was also FABULOUS and quite helpful.
I got the sales guy to quote me $26,500 on the EX-L. OTD for $28,848. (I'm in CA so taxes are $2,058, Lic $222, doc $55, Tire $9.)
It's probably been mentioned here before (I never saw anything about it), but you can find out all the current dealer and/or customer incentives currently going on here.
The Odyssey currently has a dealer incentive of $1500 - $2500 through 9/2/08. That leaves you with A LOT of wiggle room, so be sure to use that to your advantage.
Thanks, everyone for the great tips!
Los Angeles, CA
Dealer = Herb Chambers Honda of Westborough, MA
Any thoughts from the masses?
thanks in advance
BTW, last week I paid $24,000 for an EX and felt good about it.
Apparently in this day in age some businesses do not think their word, integrity, or ethics mean anything.
Do not do business with these snakes. We spent 2 hours of our time there and 40 miles worth of gas with nothing to show but shock and disappointment.
Lynwood Honda from seattle..Other dealers in seattle werent even willing to negotiate and if they did they change the prices at the final point. I talked on the phone to all these people and had them fax me so that I have something in writing,
Once I get there, I didnt want any surprises.
honda financing. Its very sad the sales people are not educated with the incentives
they have.So better I would recommend have them fax it and have the higher manager in that dealership sigh it before u go to the dealership. Then they would see the price at that point itself and we dont have to waste our time in the dealership.
Plus every Sat the Week promotion is up online. Download it on PDF (link is at bottom of page) and zoom in to 150% studying the fine prints & stock No. then search for New Cars to see whether in inventory. Email the sales guy to confirm availabilty & hopefully ask the sale guy to email you to confirm all the figure, like Out-The-Door amount. Email is on record, can be printed in hardcopy when you came down to Boch. Better yet, no trade in, or you sell to carfax who can give you higher price. Don't think Boch will give you top dollar for your trade, besed on my experience.

Don't think Boch will give you top dollar for your trade, based on my experience. Last yr I sold my 03 Mazda MPV in autotrader.com $2,000 more than the KKB's excellent trade-in value.
In VA, I think it's only 3%. In NY, tax rate is 8.75Z%.. A very big different.
TIA
What did you pay for the EX-L in Moses Lake? Was it a cash deal or did it include some financing?
I would expect that a used, low mileage, 2007 would be the best value. That being said the used market seems very choppy.
By best value I mean lowest overall cost of ownership over five years or so. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...
Getting a new 2008 model, with the big incentives, is the probably the most cost effective over the long-term... You'll get full use of the standard 3yr, and the 5yr powertrain warranties..
New Odysseys are cheaper now than they were in 2001....

I am not even drive 150 miles. It quarter gas left in the meter. Is there any problem
or usual for first thousand miles. pl et me know.
W.
My wife gets about 27-28 mpg's on the highway and close to 20 in the stop and go traffic. We get on average about 375 miles per tank full (when the dummy light comes on).
Obvoius you didn't feel it was a good deal, otherwise you would have bought it. Shoot for about $21K plus TT&L for cash purchase or $22K for the low rate APR purchase.
