I just found my old "Best of ZZ Top" tape. Gotta try it out. It will be the first time I have used the cassette in the M.

IMHO, if your CD collection does not contain The Who's "Who's Next," it ain't much of a collection! As I'm sure you all know, The Who were the highlight of the Concert for New York. Pop "Who's Next" into your 300's CD player and turn up the volume for Baba O'Reilly and ROCK!

I bought an entire set of Yokohama Avid's and had no problems initially. I had the tires mounted at a Mr. Tire with a Hunter balancing machine. One time at the dealer I had them rotated again and the problem came back. I think my current problem is with the dealer and the technicians.
I am going this weekend to have the Mr. Tire look at the tires and see if they can determine what the problem is. I may have a bad rim or the tires may not be lugged with an equal amount of torque. This can cause the tire to wobble ever so slightly and cause enough vibration to be noticed.
I am going to have the Mr. Tire loosen the lugs and re-tighten them with the same amount of torque across all the lugs to see if that solves the problem.
Now if I could only find out where the eight track player is located in the M I could be playing all kinds of good 60"s stuff

My kids like my evil wife's new RX300 more than my M. Of course, they liked my M more than her '95 Saab. I guess I need a new car to keep up...
GO PATS!!!

So go ahead and spend the the rest of your E-Bay money and do it.
How long before your wife figures our that you got $300.00 from E-Bay and have now spent around a $1000.00 dollars of it so far on your K&N
and dash kit
Sorry about the Wilie Nelson thing but I feel so much better now that
I've shared it.:-)

I assume it's a typo, as I paid over $160 for mine.
One of my favourite artists is Chris de Berg, and if some of you have not heard him, try and check him out. He may be on mp3.com. One of his earlier cassettes was Crusader and it is wicked if you like this type of music in my opinion.
sdmike- I do not have a problem with the colour match on my woodtrim on the center console but it does appear to be darker on some of the smaller pieces but not enough to cause me to remove the pieces. I did take some pictures and I will attempt to scan them and I will try to e-mail them to you, if my scanner is working right.
The weather has turned milder here and the roads are a mess along with the car. I saw a parked 2000 M Inferno Red with sandstone interior and I waited for the owner with no luck. The windshild had a nice crack from one side to the other. Did not have the wood steering wheel. Is that a 01 add on?
Excuse me for a sec.," Oh honey, do you know where the cap for this glue is"
It might just be my wishful thinking, but I think Big Red is a bit throatier and faster as a result of the transplant. Glennbp and I are talking about dynoing our cars (or one of them, because they're set up the same) to see how much of a difference the dual exhaust, aircharger and Bosch plugs makes over stock.
Thanks again, Glenn.

So, Otto or anyone else, how do you get in there? I know that there are 2 visible screws on the top underside of the front plastic piece that forms the guage surround, so is that where to start? I don't necessarily want to remove the gauges entirely (mother dearest would probably ring my neck if she saw that in my hands!!) but I want to be able to see in and around the area with a small flashlight or something. It may be a wire, a screw, a broken piece, or just something that vibrates behind there.
I don't want a full disassemble, but I'd like to see in around there. Kind of a slightly evasive surgery.
Any help?
The shifter is very easy to install. All you need is a torx bit. You will have to move the shifter in to gear Drive or auto stick is the best to give you the most room to get at the screw. When putting the your new chrome one just slide the shifter knob down and verify that the release button works (there is usually a little play in the button). Tighten down the torx screw and you are in business. Just don't over tighten the screw.
1st, make sure you are by yourself (seeing ones car in pieces can make some people very upset
1.5st, disconnect the negative battery cable. I usually do not do this myself, but mention it for safty reasons.
2nd, remove the fuse box cover on the drivers side (it just snaps out).
3rd, using a phillips screw driver remove the screws holding the lower padded panel. (there are 2 screws under the fuse cover area).
4th, the panel will now pull (snap) off. There are four friction clip holding it in 3 on the far right and one on the left.
Using a socket set (metric) taking off the 4 bolts you can remove the steel plate underneth the steering column.
This should give you enough (poking around) room, and is much easier then removing the cluster area.
Some words of advise.
One do not over tighten the 4 bolts holding the mtal plate (especially the uper right one) they strip fairly easly.
Have some foam handy, to wrap compoinets with (1/8 to 1/4" works well. If you remove the center radio bezal it is the same as used to wrap the A/C contol wires.
You can use a hammer handle or something that has a rubber end to tap the frame and supports. The rubber won't make much sound and will not do any damage to the car parts. Also move the wires a little to see if they make any noises and if so wrap the foam around them or secure them with plastic ties.
If you have some aquarium tubing you can make a stethoscope to help isolate some of the sounds.
Hope this helps.
If you still need to remove the cluster area let me know.
I had some free time and decided to create a new wallpaper background for my computer. I grabbed some images from Chrysler's website along with the logo from Brent Johnson (thanks Brent) and came up with

Feel free to use it if you'd like.
Beach , once you have the lower knee bolster pad and metal plate off you should be able to see a screw near the headlamp switch ,remove that . There should also be another screw on the other side near the radio. remove that . Then the two screws that you can see on top of the gauge area. now if you really want to get deep into this remove the steering column shroud cover , there are two screws on the bottom and the top snaps on to the bottom half ,just be careful the clips break easy. Once you have the shroud off you can pull the trim that covers the gauges off. Now there are only two screws that hold the gauges in place .Remove them and pull the whole gauge cluster towards you , it may take some pulling as you have to disengage the cluster from the electronic connectors and upper clips on the back of the unit. Then you should be able to get a better view around there. .One place I would look is between the steering column itself and the metal plate it is bolted to. Take a flash light and peer between (you will see a small gap) it , there you will see one screw this what we call a cross-car beam screw. This screw goes through a hole in the metal plate that the steering column is bolted to and goes into a metal clip on the under side of the plastic instrument panel . This screw is to stop the plastic instrument panel from rattling, well if this screw comes loose or the clip breaks away from the plastic instrument panel you will have one hell of a rattle . The screw actually pulls the dash tight against the metal mounting bracket ,so poke a screwdriver in and make sure the screw does not move or rattle. If it is loose you have to drop the steering column unit to get at it. This is also easy , it is held up with two 10 mm nuts and two 10 mm bolts . Hope this helps you. Let us know what you find
Does it make sense that the 2001 TB is different than the 2000, and that they would cost so much less?
you get 3 stars for effort!

Not sure how this works on a PC, but on a Macintosh, ANY picture that I have on my HD, I can use as "wallpaper". I have had Christine there and my current car. BigRedM would be great as a screensaver! I did have BigRedM on my screen at one time too. I'm sure you know what pic. ;-)) Right now, I have John Edward there- Crossing Over TV show. Trying to get tickets to his show to see what this is all about up close and personal.

The "new" procedure as outlined in the owners manual doesn't work. It states that you must remove the "sight shield". In other words, remove the lens cover from the headlamp assemply. It is held on with spring clips AND a liquid sealer material. In short, those covers AREN'T coming off without screwing up the seal.
So the only valid method is loosening the facia. I've looked at the service manual and id'ed the plug to remove but the diagram isn't very clear as to where the nuts are that need to be loosened. As the saying goes one picture is worth a 1000 words.
To remove the fascia, in each wheel well there is a screw pointing upwards to remove (I can't remember what size) and an oval grommet/plug to remove.
Slide a *long* 10mm (if I recall correctly) socket on a long socket extension straight through the oval hole through the fender and towards a nut at the body seam between the metal and plastic fascia. With a flashlight you can just see the nut through an opening behind the headlight looking down through the open hood (this is much easier than looking through the oval hole).
The rest of the things holding it on are plastic trim rivets.
I've done this twice, and it's not too hard.
To be clear, the R & R is remove and replace?
I've taken some pictures of my Aircharger and some of the parts that came out. If anyone needs to see anything specifically let me know. Otherwise I think they've been posted before. I may, however, post one that shows the location of the various attachment points for the aircharger just to show you guys how easy it is. I also noticed that of the three big intake parts that I removed, only one of them appears to have any kind of restrictions (ribbed plastic) in it. The piece that is re-used is completely smooth on the inside with no restrictions or bottlenecks.
Oh yeah! I found my engine block heater plug! LOL!
Here is a picture of my tint. http://www.ritchiefamily.com/car/DSCF0518.JPG. I can post pictures of my spoiler install if you want to see it.
