Your theories are not mutually exclusive.

To paraphrase old Sigmund, sometimes a car is just a car!
tidester, host
Fact is, I can describe my personality in terms of my car and I can describe my car in terms of my personality, but to actually reflect my personality, others have to see my car the same way I do. Since few people see cars the same way (if they did, there would be no competition in the marketplace), I'd have to say, no, the car does not necessarily reflect the person inside.
In addition, my budget and needs don't necessarily go along with my desires. So, most times, a person is driving a car that they settled for and not necessarily the car they would pick if they had no restrictions. Again, this foils any clearcut relationship between personality and automobile.
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
I also believe very strongly that alot people here like driving trucks, because that is a Texas cowboy stereo-type and a real man is suppose to own a truck, even if he or she won't hardly use the bed of it outside of hauling groceries 99% of the time.
However I do admit alot of Texans go hunting, fishing, camping, ATVing, Skiing, etc, thus a truck does have benefits for the outdoors folks.

vehicles. If you agree or disagree with the idea that your vehicle does or should reflect your individual personality, please respond to jfallon@edmunds.com no later than September 15, 2006 with your daytime contact information and your thoughts on this subject. And, please put "for book author" in your subject line.
Thanks for your consideration.
