Are you a recent EV buyer (past 3 months) as a result of manufacturer incentives and dealer discounts on these vehicles, including year-end deals? Gasoline for Audi Q5 - Premium for sure?

I just purchased a new Q5. While I love it, I'm not looking forward to always paying for the Premium Gasoline with each fill-up, as the dealer is recommending. My buddy said I will be fine doing the cheapest gas, as long as I am consistent. I'll be filling up for the first time in the next week. Any thoughts?

Don't listen to the dealer or your buddy...

Right inside the gas cap, there will be a label that states either:

    Premium Fuel Recommended

    or

    Premium Fuel Required

I'll guess that it is required... .and, if you have the 2.0T model, I'd use it, no matter what..

$40,000 vehicle... $100/year extra for premium won't hurt too bad... ;)

True story that the gas cap says Premium fuel... however the owners manual says you can go either way. I have been alternating between fill ups. I really haven't noticed any difference. It may be my imagination, but I seem to get better mileage with the Regular.

Any late model car has knock sensors that will detune the before any knock is present.

We have a car guy on Sat morning radio (Ed wallace - insideautoimotive.com) that has NEVER put premium in any of his acuras that all call for premium...

you lose a few horses and maybe a mpg, but save a bunch....
