You must be talking about the yoke retainer bolts? If so, the spec is 19 lb ft.

Can any tell me WHAT bug guard DOES NOT need the little bumpers? The one that GMC has , does not have them, but costs around $100. The part # is;12495772. If someone knows the cross reference # for the company, it would save me some money.
  • erikf2erikf2 Member Posts: 100
My Lund Trident (about $70) doesn't have 'em, I'm pretty dang sure Ryan's Lund Interceptor (about $50) doesn't have 'em, I don't think **any** of the Lund models have 'em, and it's quite possible that most Bug-Flector models don't have 'em any more, either.

However, I do see that, according to their Web site, the Deflecta-Shield Magnum and Concept II models DO have 'em, so don't get those if you don't want the bumpers.
  • michgndrmichgndr Member Posts: 160
Bugflector II does have them. What's the big deal anyway?
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
my lund interceptor only uses screws that are screwed into preexisting holes inside the hood. 5 min install. Enough room to cleam behind. Also it will not touch the hood at all. I was in 60 mph crosswinds and 50 mph head winds recently and the deflector was fine.

    cost was $49.99
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
were for the guard to rest on them..instead of the hood and rub the paint away. Most ones today are made of stiffer material that does not flex as much and are designed to be much further away so you can wash in between.

Mine has no bumpers and does not flex enough to touch the hood.

Yea, Still alive & well 16k on the truck now only problem so far is wind noise at the third door, which of course the dealer says is because of my after market Leer 122 cap and Lund bug deflector, I love how they diagnose problems these days.
As for the Lund bug deflector the only place that doesn't get hit with the darn bugs is the lower foot of windshield, so I guess when osteoporosis sets in and I can't sit up straight any more I'll see fine out the windshield, haha! This spell check feature is for the birds!

from engine. Anyone have the problem fixed correctly ata dealership??? the dealership is telling me the engine is set up to burn lean due to emission standards. I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 LS with 5.3l.

    Greetings from a 1st.time poster,but a long time follower.

I'm in the market for a new truck, and looking at going back to a "fullsize" 4 door, for towing and ease of handeling a car seat(s).I have checked into the Dodge Dakota Quad Cab,Ford Supercrew,
    Chev./GMC xtd.cab,with all being 4x4's.

    I'm leaning towards the 2001 GMC,SLE,Z71,5.3,fully
loaded.Went with SLE for no leather! I ran into a new twist at the dealers, they are running a promo
on their "WRANGLER'S" at a price of $32,338 CAN.
The Z71 can be had for about $35,500 to $36,500, depending on which seat 40/20/40 or buckets.
The Wrangler would have the same equipment except
    1-No 6 way power buckets
    2-NO Z71 offroad package
    3-No electric rear window defogger
    4-No r.v.mirror/temp./compass
    5-No power heated outside mirrors
    6-No fog lights
    7-No heavy duty coolers
    8-No trailer tow package
My question is which one would or have most of you recent buyers gone with and for what reasons.
Is the Z71 really worth an extra $3200 to $4200?
I would think the missing equipment to be worth about $2500.Also what do most of you have 40/20/40
power bench or power buckets, and why? I would be very thankful for ALL views on this post.
    P.S.sorry for the long post,MILLI
  • eric2001eric2001 Member Posts: 482
Personally I would go for the bucket seats. They are that much more comfortable. Take a long ride in each (30+ minutes) and decide for yourself. As for all the other extras, that is really a personal preference, but wouldn't the defogger & heated mirrors be safer in the winter? Best of luck.

    $4K Z71 pkg?

    Wow mine cost $365
  • eric2001eric2001 Member Posts: 482
That is the American to Canadian exchange rate (hehe) no just kidding. Seems like they offer a different package to the North, like the difference between the LS and the LT...
  • littlemillittlemil Member Posts: 4
The price of just the Z71 package runs about $500,
the price differance i showed was for that specific Z71 truck with all the equipment i listed
that was not on the Wrangler.
The exchange rate today is about $1.56 CAN. for a
U.S. buck, but the pricing on new vehicles is only
about 30% more than what you would buy for in the
U.S.,vs the full exchange of our dollars!
I see you went with the blue on your chevy, how do
you find it to keep clean, and how about any swiral
marks showing.leather or cloth? buckets or bench?
I'm leaning towards white and having the bottom
custom painted in that same blue, seeing that we can only get 2 tone with pewter or grey up here,it
would also be quite different from most trucks i
see on the roads locally. Thanks for any imput.

anybody ever heard of a rebate coupon? how do they work? where do i get one? are there
different value coupons? can they be used on any vehicle? will be purchasing a 2001
CC, D/A, 3:73, gmc 3500 in july, august and any $ off would help. Any new mileage
figures on this vehicle? Haven't seen any of these vehicles in Western Pa yet. All the
CC at the dealers have 8.1 in this area.

Of course it's a matter of personal preference but here's my .02. I went with the bench for a couple of reasons. Bench means you can seat six if you have to. This was a requirement of the Mrs. and since you mentioned car seat(s) if you don't already know how THAT works you soon will. Once you get the drivers seat where you want it how many times do you need to change it? My 97 Tahoe has the 6-way power buckets and the tracks and gears that it sits on creak and crack and make all kinds of noise when you ride. The bench has a nice fold down center that acts as a console/armrest so you don't really give up anything there. I like the center floorspace in the front for things like diaper bags and blankets and bottle warmers and all the "neccessities". Basically I applied the money that would have been spent on 6-way power heated leather buckets and applied it to skid plates and trailering packages and fog lights and aux. batteries and that kind of stuff.

    Enjoy

As for the indigo blue, Ryan & I both have it. It does show dirt easily (as all dark colors do) but it is gorgeous when clean. Since mine is older than Ryan's I might be more prone to paint problems, but I don't have any, no swirl marks or anything else. The white would be offset nicely by the blue in my opinion.

The heated leather on the way to work is the finest feature of my '01 LT.

I had no problems with my cloth seats this past winter. I have never cared for the way you slide around on leather. For Milli, I would agree with sf0383 and go for the 40/20/40 cloth seat. You can custom order a truck and drop the unwanted options. Personally, my 2001 Sierra is loaded about the same as the one you're looking at except I have the 40/20/40 cloth seat. All the options are great and you'll definitely appreciate the heated mirrors and rear defroster in the winter. Wrangler may have a great price right now, but you'll have years to be sorry you bought one. Just test drive a Wrangler and Sierra within an hour of each other and you'll know what I mean! If you want an even softer ride, drop the Z71 option. Test drive a regular Sierra at the same time to decide.

manual bucket cloth seats are the way to go.

Love the center console have CD's pens, tire pressure gauge, knife (protection from the mean streets haha).

I decided on manual bucket seats (last yr offered in 00) because i just slide it all the way back anyways why would i need power to do that?

I have every option on my LS except

leather, power seats, heated mirrors, rear defogger, block heater, oh yea and the radio upgrade (tape player why did i need to waste $100 on a tape player?)

Final price after taxes (including bedliner, nerf bars, bug delfector, bed rail caps) $29691.00

Power seats do more than just move forward and rearward. You can raise/lower the front or rear (or both) to make yourself more comfortable. Especially nice on long trips. That is the real beauty of power seats.
  • ryanbabryanbab Member Posts: 7,240
dont need it all the way back and have the thing straight up and down im very comfy

i dont need to go up or down im not riding a darn rollercoaster.
  • blacksilverblacksilver Member Posts: 69
The 12-way *Heated* leather also has adjustable lumbar support and adjustable "wings" which give you lateral support as you whip through those tight turns, not to mention the 2-memory setup for "laid back cruising" or "hang on, there's curves ahead" maneuvering.

But hey, if you don't have the nice stuff, you just gotta be satisfied with your stripper!

  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
as i've never had a vehicle yet with power seats that did'nt end up needing a part or two to keep em workin. how many times does someone have to adjust the seat anyways?
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
..they may be the same...but I'll take the power heated leather for old backs like mine that have been abused.

The sideback bolsters (as mentioned ) add a whole new comfort level for me........and since when do you slide in leather?.....

Last truck had cloth straight up and down..no lumbar....(but I think that WAS the deluxe back then?)

For all the highway I do...I'll never go back to stripper seats..(LOL)

    ...Enjoy the Holiday

buckets man! They are really nice and much more comfortable than the 40/20/40 seats IMO anyways. I have power buckets (which are nice). It would not be a problem if they were manual though. Power stuff always is something else to break.

If you have the extra money go for it.. Well there is my 2 cents worth!

Seats only need to be adjusted once, unless you're married. But that one time is worth it!

  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157

    ....back/forward and 1 lumbar...big deal!

i know what you guys mean though, it sometimes is handy to have that last bit of tweaking capability that power seats offer.

I have a 2000 silverado 2500 4x4 and am going to change the transmission fluid does anyone have any experience with this kind of truck? I'm interested in Knowing how to drain the tourque converter. Also any info on the Auto transfer case fluid.

After having them 2.5 years I think that they are one of the better options I bought.
  • hdriderhdrider Member Posts: 49
Question for you Allison owners... What are the maintenance costs of owning the Allison? How often do you do fluid/filter changes? How many quarts does it take? How much does the fluid cost/quart? Trying to gather data to make a decision on whether I want the Allison or 6 spd... Thanks!

    Good answer boss!

    LOL

....the manual seats didn't kill me...but I really like power seats better...

...and 2 posistion memory until she gets her own truck is a plus as well

seats in the 120 degree desert heat and you will regret buying them. I had leather Recaro seats in my CRX and they provided great support, but I had to cover them with heavy towels so I didn'tn burn myself in the summer. So, why get leather in the first place? Also, all leather seats I have seen eventually get wrinkly on the "seating surface", which doesn't look too nice. But this is a stripper owner talking. I think Ryan with cloth manual buckets has the best idea - of course, he is a college educated man so he is very smart.:-o)
  • redsilveradoredsilverado Member Posts: 1,000
but who would like to be in Scott Sharpe's seat after that sickening crack-up?
gotta feel for him though, must be a tremendous amount of pressure on those guys in the 500's first lap.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
......not all people live in a desert though...

Leather cools and heats up the fastest.....and it better than vinyl!...( I still remember the Chevelle with black vinyl seats with half shirts in the summer....OUCH!)

Have 2000 GMC Sierra with towing pkg. Question is, my trailer has axles from a mobile home and the brakes aren't polarized. What problems does this create when wired to a brake controller. Have heard that this creates problems with the computers. If so is there a fix for this as the trailer is very good and I would like to use it on the highway to haul my small tractor? Any help would be appreciated.

lowered my Silverado this past weekend, now I'm looking to upgrade the shocks. For those of you that have used them, what is your opinion on the Edelbrock IAS shocks-good or bad? Any other recommendations on what brand of shocks to consider? Thanks.
  • obyoneobyone Member Posts: 7,841
they stand behind their warranty too.
  • ricschricsch Member Posts: 540
did you have a problem with a shock? What is the approx. cost for the Edelbrocks? Thanks again!
