Nooooo.. kemo sabe.. tell your dealer you found one on the web at such and such dealer and he will typically arrange an inventory trade with that dealer and bring the one you want in
I am looking at the 07 Torrent I have alot of allergies and need a cabin air filter. I do not see it mentioned in the booklet on the car or in the GM web site on the car.
Cannot decide on whether I want to purchase a Torrent, seems like a really good vehicle. Have test drove several small suv's and really like the Torrent. Liked the xterra, didn't like the Ford escape. Everyone has a RAV-4 and not real thrilled with them. One thing I do not like is the fact Pontiac does not reward repeat customers. If you own a Pontiac and want to buy another one, they should reward loyality. Anyhow, any other thoughts on the Torrent would be beneficial. Thanks
Well maybe I can put my two cents worth in. We own a Buick rendevous and an 06 torrent...and I think the torrent blows the rendevouse away in style, comfort, feel. The only thing the Buick has going for it is size. Now you say Xterra first of all that is a truck and will ride like a truck and a guy I work with says he liked the torrent over his xterra and hes only getting like 12 miles per gallon. Escape and Rav4 in my opion are much smaller then the torrent..and you say loyalty??? does any other manufacture reward loyality besides Hyundai?
Thanks for your opinion. I currently have a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix. I really like the car(bought new), but its almost dead. My wife has a 01 Pontiac Sunfire and its a nice little vehicle. When I buy, I plan on having for many years. I just wish they would show some loyality. I know that is a thing of the past. I really like the Torrent and everything I have read seems like its a great vehicle. Once the weather is warmer, I will pursue it. Thanks again I am still looking for other opinions, please continue to post so I can review.
Well I went and bought a 2007 Torrent this weekend (AWD) Liquid silver with black leather. Got it for 1k under invoice due to some additional rebates. Did by the GM Protection plan for 100k miles because I drive a lot and want to be covered.
Yes I had several packages in mine including the security package which has the side curtain airbags and also Onstar which is something I really wanted. I paid 27482 including tax and tags (transferred tags) I live in Maryland but bought the car in VA because I got a better deal.
As a new Torrent owner (2006 leftover bought today at a fire sale price) I have an initial question. How does one remove the radio? Or more specifically, how does one remove the trim around the radio to get at the head unit?
Let me be more specific, because I also saw the photo of the _removed_ radio, but nothing on the removal of the trim to access the radio. Taking out the radio head itself is a piece of cake. The issue for me is how to remove the trim bezel surrounding the radio head. I expect it is held in place with plastic clips. Rather than break my way through the process, I'm looking for a been-there-done-that summary of how to remove the trim. Thanks again for any constructive replies.
There has been some chat lately on 2006 and 2007 Torrent pricing, incentives and such. Here's a a place to start for factory incentives and a personal point of reference for my own deal this week. And don't forget, each dealer also has several thousand dollars in combined margin, holdback and other funny money to play with _on top_ of any factory cash. For example, even when selling for "invoice" the dealer still has a modest profit.
The final price paid becomes a matter of how willing the dealer is to deal. And February is an excellent month for the customer because it has fewer selling days for dealers to cover their costs and, at least here in MI, it's darned cold and no one is buying much at the moment.
For starters, if you go to gmbuypower.com and select the make and model you are interested in, then look under "Current Offers" for your state, you'll see the current factory incentives. Here in Michigan, there's $2500 available on the 2006s and $1500 on the 2007s.
If you are looking to make a deal, be sure and ask about the Conquest Bonus and other incentives. In my case, the Dodge in our household got us another $500 off and it didn't need to be part of the deal.
Beyond that, there is an overabundance of 2006 models around the country. We were very flexible on color, but wanted at least the Preferred Package, 17-inch wheels and heated seats. We found all that and a bit more in a White AWD 2006 model. Granted, it was 15 months old since the build date, but only 20 miles.
MSRP was $27,020. We paid a few dollars under $16,500 pre-tax on a straight-up cash deal; no trade ($17,750 delivered, incl. 6% state tax, title, transfer of plates and other incidentals). I did use about $550 in GM Card money, plus an added $1000 GM sent me in the form of a GM Card Coupon Bonus, plus the $500 Conquest Bonus, plus $2750 in then-current rebates. The rest was all factory and dealer give-backs, margin cuts, and probably an outright loss just to move an over-aged unit. Waaaaay below invoice by any measure.
Bottom line: a bit over $10,000 off list, the equipment I wanted, and a color I can live with. Oh yeah, I also like the car/truck. Now if I can just figure out how to remove the radio trim to install the factory 6Disk CD changer radio I bought, I'll be an even happier camper.
Somebody probably lost their job over that deal. It makes no sense, since rentals are bringing more than that at auction. But, your gain. Changing the radio is simple, but will do you no good if you don't have a GM Tech2 scanner, since the radio scans itself against your bcm. When you install it, it will play for about 3 seconds and lock itself until you find yourself a Tech2. Every part of the country has some different rebates/incentives, but when I was looking for a Torrent, I stopped at the dealership I used to manage. For an '06 with an MSRP of $23940, completely netted out after all incentives(including conquest) was about $18100 before tax, no GM card. For those of you who can't decide between an '06 and '07, I'll make it simple. If you drive alot, get an '06. Its like getting a free year of miles. If you plan on keeping it forever, buy whatever you like. If you can't find an '06 equipped the way you like, then buy an '07. I would even think about ordering one, since '07 incentives will only get better as time goes on.
There are approx. 5 different styles/brands of aftermarket trailer hitches available. Anyone have any experience as to one being better than another? I've always liked Hidden Hitch brand because I don't like seeing that stupid bar going across the bottom rear of my vehicles.
I put a Draw Tite Class II on my 06. It tucked in pretty nice and bolted up to existing holes. There is a plug inside the jack well for the wiring module. piece of cake.
I am new to this forum, I just bought my Torrent last weekend, and I've been literally reading the entire manual. I can't for the life of me figure out how to reset the trip odometer, which I like to do each time I fill up the gas tank. I saw your post which mentioned how you reset your odometer, and was wondering -- will you please tell me how to do it?
I have ordered an 07 Torrent for delivery in April. I test drove two different vehicles and on each I couldn't get the A/C to turn on. When I pushed the A/C button, the light blinked for a few seconds and went off. The A/C also did not seem to turn on when in Defrost mode. I read the manual but nothing in there states if there are conditions which the A/C wouldn't turn on or if the A/C light will blink. Any ideas? Thanks
Has anyone installed a backup sensor or one of the so called fuel saving modules in their torrent that worked? I purchased something on ebay but want to see if anyone has had any success with it.
Push the button once to get trip mileage. Then push and hold until the trip mileage rezeros. Then push again to go back to cumulative mileage. Hope this helps.
Tim's instructions actually do not work on my Torrent. How I reset my trip mileage was: I did indeed push the button once to get my trip mileage. Then, I pushed the checkmark button to reset it -- it immediately went to zero without a problem.
Ellen -- the trip mileage button is this: you should have 3 buttons above and to the left of your radio. Off the top of my head I forget exactly what design is on them, except I do remember the 3rd button has a checkmark on it. The first button is the one you can click through to get your total odometer mileage, your trip mileage, your average speed, your average fuel economy, etc. Click it to trip mileage, which should be one push; I then clicked the checkmark button. I hope this works on your Torrent! I'm not sure why Tim's instructions did not work on mine -- I had tried that before I figured out how to do it my way, and it did not work -- would different year Torrents have it differently?
Anyone know where to order a coin holder from ? I'd really like one . I just bought a 2007 awd torrent and so far i'm very happy with it but only have 28 miles on it (got it at 5miles) I picked it up last night
def get a better audio system. I have the standard one and I want to upgrade already . I'm going to talk to the dealer and see how much they want for the premium . Cause the normal one sounds like poo if your into music (or i might install my own)
Also make sure you get the perfered package . It seems like it doesn't come with much , but the remote start is well worth the price and the other touches are nice also .
The Sport model in Canada includes everything in the Preffered Package expect the remote start which I will have to live without. I am concerned about the stereo. Let me know if you can swap the radio after the fact?
I don't know if you can . I will ask when i go pick up my plates. I must say that when using my ipod through the aux jack it sounds much better than the radio .
I think if you can afford it , you should try and get one with the premium stereo . But i will ask next time i go in .
Speaking of audio systems, I have a question about the RANDOM mode when using the CD.
I really enjoy using the Random mode when I listen to my CDs, both in the Torrent and in my previous vehicle. However, if the CD comes to a song that I do not care to listen to, I used to push the "next" or "forward" button in my previous vehicle, and the CD would advance to another song, and still remain in the Random mode.
Now on my Torrent, if I click the "next" button to go past a song, in the Random mode, it simply advances to the next song track on the CD. If I click "next" again, it goes to the NEXT song. My display still shows the "random" symbol, to show that the Random mode is indeed on, but yet if I push the "next" button, it just goes to the next track, and not a completely different random track. Is this just how the Torrent Random mode works?
This is probably a stupid question but, every time I get out of my Torrent I get a shock. I purchased the vehicle in September and it's now March and it happens every time. I'm at the point where I hate touching my vehicle! Anyone else have this problem? Should I do anything about it?
Well there is nothing you can do to fix it permatly...but there are several option. #1) Make sure you are touch the metal of the door everytime you get out....an the shock will disapate...the other easy way around this is #2)This sound stupid but works rub a dryer sheet on your cars fabric seat and that will stop it for a few weeks...last but not least #3)Go an buy a can of static gaurd at Target/walmart or your local grocer and spray the seats with that....all should do the trick...but will not stop the issue for good. You will have to apply every so often. once summer comes...it will go away...providing you are in a warm climate. Oh on #2 I suggest using unscented unless you can deal with the scent.
I remember in the "old days" drivers would attach a static strap, a rubber strip, to the frame of the vehicle and have the strap drag along the ground. I was told these are still sold in auto parts stores.
Anyone heard anything about GM replacing the Torrent's engine from China with an engine from North America? I like the Torrent but will not buy one because of its engine being from China.
The Torrent GXP (out in summer?) will have the 3.6L OHC engine, but it will also have a sportier suspension, a 6-sp auto, and sportier front facia (and in my opinion, not as tasteful).
The Suzuki XL7 is the same vehicle as the Torrent/Equinox (also built in Ingersoll in the same factory), although it is about 8 inches longer, I think. You can even get a third row of seats in it for a very reasonable price. More importantly, it has the 3.6L OHC engine as the standard (and only) engine, although it is built in Japan by Suzuki under license (it's the same as the GM 3.6L, though).
While I think that the Torrent is more stylish both inside and out than the XL7, the XL7's engine is a big advantage. It also has a fully manumatic shifter, as opposed to the Torrent's 3-choice L,4,D shifter, which I hate.
I think where they loose me on the GXP torrent is the lack of Roof Rails. I think that really adds Characture to the vehicle. I do like the new place ment of the antenna though. I really thought they should have done that with the 06/07. But I understand why they did not because of the roof racks.
Now with the engine...well for what I am told the engine/tranny package in the XL7 is what should be in the Torrent.
I just bought a new 07 Torrent in February and I love it. I have just over 400 miles on it and no issues. The list price on my car was 25,085 and the dealer went down to 23,730. After rebates I got the car for 18,617.54. After taxes and tags I walked out paying 20,700. It has the preferred package, upgraded tires and an upgraded stereo. I think I got a really good deal.

The 06 doesn't have the electronic start does it ?
I am still looking for other opinions, please continue to post so I can review.
Thanks
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Anyone want to post a picture of their setup?

I do not have a little knob, no button to push in like the normal ole odometers I am used to.....it's all computers.....
Thanks
Ellen
Just place it beneath your gas pedal, and you'll see the savings start immediately.

I do have that problem as well, but I have a valid excuse -- it's very dry at the moment where I live
