Wow; that's brilliant. I'd like to see one of those in action!

Speaking of OIL the lifeblood of Alaska. Looks like your Senator is caught in a crossfire. Will he go along with the GW scam pushed by his party or stick up for what is best for the people of his state. Less than 25% of the American people think GW is an important issue. Yet it is the smokescreen that has kept progress on such projects as Keystone pipeline stalled. I don't see oil usage going away for at least the next 100 years.

Mark and Lisa should invite Sarah to a hearing to explain why her oil tax plan was a good one. Cue the strange bedfellows music too. :D

I don't think Lisa will be that much of a RINO to help Begich win re-election. I don't think he can beat a Dan Sullivan. You remember the only reason Mark won was Uncle Ted was buried in litigation. It is one of the seats the GOP needs to take the Senate back. Interesting Palin has not gotten more involved. May be best she doesn't for the sake of the AK GOP. Sullivan is not likely to get my Teamster's endorsement. Off year elections always favor the GOP.

Not a shocker, by any means. While all Alaskans recognize the change in climate (it is far more distinct in extreme climates than in temperate areas), simply by way of experiencing it as the years pass, the why and what to do is far less certain. Climate change is a big topic up here, and one that is heavily funded in the research community. Sadly, the folks who know the least about it seem to be the ones that scream the loudest.

Clearly, we desperately need to strike a balance with our environment (and not necessarily because of "GW"), yet with a divisive approach of all-or-nothing, we're guaranteed to get the latter.

Well I am officially paying $0.60/gallon more than I was a month ago, which seems like a steep increase even given that this is the time of year when I expect it. Paying about $4.30 for RUG now.
Will the next new car be a hybrid? Thinking about it more and more even though there isn't a single hybrid sold that is designed for drivers. :-(

Was keeping my eye on the Golf GTD, thought that might be a high-mileage model worth owning, basically a GTI with a higher-powered diesel than the other diesel Golfs. And so of course VWoA nixed the idea a few weeks back. Another good one that only Europe will get. Could I spend $15K more to get a diesel A3 sportback? Yes of course, but it doesn't pencil out even if gas goes beyond $5/gallon this year for the very first time. $5 gas is an eventuality I am always expecting to come any day now.....then we will have to change the name of this discussion... ;-)

"Oregon’s Department of Transportation has been working on it for 15 years as a way to eventually replace the gas tax, which has been flat due to an influx of high mileage vehicles and people driving less.

Right now the program is voluntary and being capped at 5,000 participants, but an ODOT official told Fox News the ultimate goal is to make it mandatory and change the way states pay for roads -- forever.

"We're trying to make up for a growing deficit, really, because inflation's eating away at our ability to buy asphalt and rebar and the things we need to maintain the roads," said Tom Fuller of the Oregon Department of Transportation."
