Final OTD price: $15,890
should i buy it?
and OTD means the final final price right? including sales tax and title+registration?
i would also have to come in today to buy it at that price.
If you seem to be getting an unreal deal, then don't be surprised if there are extras...
The only way you'll know is to ask them..

Who knows though... Honda may be running their promotions differently; and everyone has been cutting production, so eventually inventory will drop enough that they no longer have to run the incentive
Salespeople don't want you to leave, because most shoppers don't come back.. Even if it is irritating, I can't fault them for it..
Now, if they are obnoxious, they are sealing their own fate..

I told him that most of our incentives on Civics would end April 30th. I gave him a great price but it wasn't good enough for him.
He shopped my number everywhere and I know he didn't believe me when I told him the price would change substancially on May 1st.
He believes me now!
Word is that incentives will be cut substancially.
I am not surprised to see dealers begin to visit this forum often and often. Why don't you show us what number you offered him? you may also kindly post the options for that offer.
By the way, honda's sales in April dropped by 25%. Without the money incentives they offered in the middle of April, about 04/15, Honda's sales would definitely dropped more. By saying so, I would wait and see how the market winds for Honda. So even if Honda does not immediately offer incentives at the beginning of this month, they would likely do in the bottom half of the month. At least, we have the summer just beginning, and I doubt Honda will sit tight without doing better marketing.

My customer was one of these guys who lives with the constant fear that he just might spend 50 dollars more than someone else may have. I told him that the incentives were ending but he decided to wait to see if they would get even better.
Like I said, he outsmarted himself.
Honda does not give them a lot of info so they have to learn from their customers
I think we will see quite a few of incentives summer. I see already drop in price for civics of few thousand and more to come.
To isellhondas,
you are right mr salesman, customer is very educated and smart those days and you will have start respecting/appreciating that fact. Many dealers are starting to realize that and some are reacting diferently than others.
As far as incenitives I dont see how Honda can get rid of inventories sutting on lots without droping prices like Toyotas and GMs. (Just drive by HOnda delars lot and see boaring salesman sturring out of windows on their lots full of cars). I believe we will see very drastic price reductions in near future! By the way Civicis is a nice car but it remains to be just a civic, It is not a BMW sprinkled with a holy water - it is just a civic - inexpensive basic tranportation with its own problems and discomforts. - And HOnda perfectly understands that but some salesmans are trying to promote civic like it is best things after loaf of bread.
When you byuing civic now - solicit responce from few larger diealrships, be patient and firm and you get a deal of your life well below "invoice". SOme larger places have huge hiden incentives now after they sell so many cars.
By the way dont hesitate to ask your dealr to split your sales man comissions - realtor are doing this all the time now. Good luck and keep this post going! God bless!
I'm not sure what exactly you are referring to by this statement but my 2004 Civic currently has just over 200,000 miles on it, I have replaced routine maintenance items, (brakes, tires, wiper blades etc), and that is it! It has always started and never given me one minute of trouble. I just replaced it with a 2009 EX and gave the 2004 to my daughter. If you think BMWs are better than Hondas you should check to see which car is higher rated according to customer surveys.
I guess you're right. My customer was so smart he cost himself 1000.00.
" Just drive by HOnda delars lot and see boaring salesman sturring out of windows on their lots full of cars"
Oh, I don't know, I put in about 24 hours this past weekend and was so busy I never took a break.
19,856 Sale price
1,191.36 6% Tax
202.65 Title and Tag Fees
21,250.01 Out-the-door Total
can i do better?
You are using the word "you" here and I have done none of those things.
*crosses fingers*
Do I regret my Civic choice...no way! But the warranty issues have just shown me that it's no better or no worse than other cars in this segment.

My brother and I are both looking to buy 2009 honda civics (sedan & coupe) and I was wondering if there would be a chance that some dealerships give some sort of discount for buying 2 cars at the same time?
Thanks
I bought a 2009 Civic sedan EX-L with NAV yesterday (May 4th) in MD for $21,463. This price did not include taxes/tags/and title because they vary by state and I didn't want to complicate the price for those who live elsewhere.
The car did come with the optional but what is really the standard appearance package (mud flaps, body stripes, wheel locks) and I got the all-weather rubber floor mats thrown in the deal.
I guess you can really never be sure if you got the best deal but I felt like I did my homework and got a price less than the Edmund's TMV price. After all was said and done the salesman told me that their total profit on the deal was $160. This may have been just a "make'm feel good" comment......and it did. I got the car for $2000 less than the offer I received from the other local dealer I was working with which also gave me the indication that it wasn't a bad price.
Hope this helps someone make a choice but May incentives might be up or down I don't think anyone knows yet!
(1) Lug Bug issue
(2) Water pump Pully issue
(3) New Rear Control Arms/Rear Struts
(4) New Battery
(5) New Sensor In ABS(I think))
(6) Rear Tires Wore Prematurely (got some $ back from Honda)).
Think that's about it. Most were small issues granted, but five unscheduled stops at the dealer within 2.75 years isn't what I expected from a Honda product bought new with 10 miles on the clock. Still a great car but I think the effect of the Honda kool-aid is wearing off now. I'd bet the '09 models have all these things fixed already pre-production but not what I wanted or expected simply put. Like I've already said, our Mazda 3s has been bullet proof compared to the LX and was about the same price just for the car & destination.
Personally, if I were in the market now, I'd look at all the offerings, then make a decision. I really only looked at the Civic and the S40, which is really a Mazda 3 underneath and more $ up front. Good luck shopping!

Guess that's why cars have warranties?
Of course, Honda didn't make that battery or the tires but even those items are pretty rugged. My next door neighbor changed the battery in the 1996 Accord I sold him new after ten years! I kept telling him to replace it before he got stranded but he just had to see how much he could get out of it! He found out one dark night in the Boeing parking lot!
I've seen tires on Hondas go 70,000 miles when people rotate them
What the heck is a "Lug Bug"? :confuse:
I guess I would lose a lot of money if I was to sell it now and buy something else
BTW not this is a Mazda forum, but the discounts on the 2010 sucked. Top end Mazda 3 was coming in close to 25K. Pretty expensive if you ask me. Even though it has nice features, it is still in the same class as the Civic. Probably consider something bigger if I am willing to spend 25K. Just justifying my purchase
Even though Bass isn't that great, the IPod integration with the Navi headunit is very nice. Almost bought the Coupe just for the better audio, although I like the practicality and the looks of the sedan more.
I suggested he simply go to Costco and spend 49.00 for a Motorola earpiece and save a ton of money but, no, he would have no part of that.
I just don't understand. I have an earpiece that I rarely use and it works suprisingly well. I just don't believe in using a cellphone instead of concentrating on driving but that's me.
Garmin now makes a pretty nifty portable NAVI system with Bluetooth built in for around 200.00. I couldn't believe how much these have improved ssince the early units that were a lot more expensive!
Civic Coupe (all trim levels)- $1000
Civic EX/EX-L/Si Sedan- $750
Civic DX/LX/LX-S Sedan- $500
Effective 05/05/09 thru 07/06/09
They also have 2.9% APR for 24/36 months or 3.9% for 60 months for "well qualified customers". It can be combined with cash to dealer (aka- marketing support). Also valid thru 07/06/09.
I wonder what sort of deal I could get on an EX Coupe with Automatic??? MSRP is $20,775, Invoice $19,185 and Edmunds TMV is $18,517...I haven't had a 2-door vehicle in 10+ years, but I think I could handle it if was a better deal (not to mention the 350-watt stereo system that only comes in the Coupe)!
That being said, I love the leather. EX-L. That was worth it in my opinion. The interior is very nice.
where did you find that information on this month's incentives and rebates?
Thanks
That said, toyota and honda cannot keep this reliability up for ever. The have to fall sometime because it's a battle between tweaking what they have perfected...but what they have perfected for so many years now costs money and eventually starts to to eat away at the bottom line. Times are a changing...
Currently I am being offered $17556 + tax for LX. How much lower you think I can go? I am hoping for something less then 18K with tax (8.1% in here).
I am looking for the 2009 Honda Civic LX,Coupe AT. I live in San Jose',California. I am ready to pay cash. Could some one please tell me what the reasonable selling price (with destination) would be. Thanks everyone in advance
Sweety
Thanks,
A.
Other advantage of buying new car:
Even though your upfront price for new car will be $4,000 higher, but your interest rate will be half compared to the interest rate for used car. Over a 48 month loan, you'll save about $2k on new car, This further narrows the 'total' price gap between used and new. But if you are paying cash for this used car then the above advantage won't apply to you.
But if I had a bag full of cash I would still finance a new car at 2.9% interest, invest the cash in stock market and in 4 years that would give me enought yield to buy a car for cash just from the money earned off of $16k. I did something totally crazy recently along these lines and have had amazing results... Perhaps you can also benefit. Just my $0.02
Crazyfly
I was originally looking at a 07 ex with about 21000 miles - then realized that for just a bit more, and a lower finance rate through Honda (3.9%), I could get a brand new 09 EX - which is what I did. Good luck!
Lyn
The incentives and rebates are not the same as it was in April so all the dealers raised their prices. So if anybody can let me know if this is pretty good or not.
Also, do they usually have good sells for cars on memorial day weekend?
